- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, Theroadislong (talk) 17:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Creating articles
[edit]Creating an article on Wikipedia is the hardest task there is here, to attempt it without spending a few months editing in other areas will likely lead to instant failure. See WP:YFA for help and I would strongly advise using the WP:AFC process or your work is likely to be speedy deleted. Theroadislong (talk) 18:06, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, Thecapedoctor. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page D'Low (South African musician), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 16:48, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice:
{{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
- @Spicy hi there, I just got blocked? can you tell me how I can go about unblocking myself? I have probably vandalized Wikipedia in the past but I'm here to contribute now Thecapedoctor (talk) 16:57, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- You need to request unblocking via your original account. Due to your prolific sock puppetry, you will need to request unblocking/unbanning by the community at WP:AN. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:41, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Deepfriedokra I don't event have the original account anymore and it might've been an old friend who did it for me.. I only started editing after his failed attempts of editing and creating.. so it was basically two people who were making all the different edits on all sock puppet accounts. do I just create a new topic at WP:AN ?? Thecapedoctor (talk) 17:47, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- You could use the unblock template to request unblocking and ask that the request be carried to WP:AN -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:25, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- On the other hand, you might need to wait six months to be eligible for unblocking, come to think of it. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:26, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
