@I dream of horses: Many thanks for the welcome. I just took an article live (Harebrained Schemes). If you see anything that could use fixing, please let me know. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 04:06, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Re:Golem Arcana advice
[edit]I have read the article. Overall it looks quite nice and neat. Here are some suggestions
- The article needs an infobox. See Template:Infobox video games, or just copy one from another video game article then replace some information.
- More development information in the lead would be nice.
- Usually the gameplay section goes first, followed by the development section. Gameplay section gives readers general information of the game and it allows them to understand the the game's development in an easier way.
- I usually avoid having two quoteboxes in one section. This is just personal preferences.
- You definitely do not want a screenshot of a person in the gameplay section. You should use an actual gameplay screenshot.
- I tend to paraphrase most quotes from the game's project leads so that the chance of potential copyright violation can be lowered.
- The gameplay section should be written in a way that normal readers would understand. For instance, I am not really sure whether I understand about the "grid" system or not.
I got to say that the article is quite solid, especially from a new editor. I did not really look into the article in a very in-depth way as it would be something for peer review or even, good article nomination review. Anyway, this is some incredible work, and I have assessed the article. And one more things. Since you have mainly edit information about video games, I think you may be interested in joining our Video Games WikiProject, in which a group of editors interested in video game discuss how to improve video game articles. You can sign up here if you are interested. AdrianGamer (talk) 10:27, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
BattleTech
[edit]Hi The Squirrel Conspiracy,
I have submitted a DYK nomination for BattleTech but it sort of get rejected because it is not really well-written. Would you mind to copyedit it? Thank you very much. AdrianGamer (talk) 11:32, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Harebrained Schemes
[edit]On 18 October 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Harebrained Schemes, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that with its campaign for Shadowrun Returns, Harebrained Schemes became the third video game studio to break $1 million on Kickstarter? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Harebrained Schemes. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

That serve.com source
[edit]Hi! I can't check now (revdeletion has already been done), but I'm pretty sure it was an external link in the original version of the article. You may have opened a family-sized can of worms there – I'm off to look more thoroughly at some other articles by that editor. Either way that was well spotted, so thank you! And how you dealt with it was just fine. However, for next time (if there is one), may I suggest that you blank the article by placing {{subst:copyvio|url=source(s)}}
at the top or at the start of the "bad" text (and, if it doesn't go all the way to the end, a </div>
at the end of it)? Then save and follow the steps on the template? That brings the problem to the attention of people who deal with this sort of stuff all the time, which is good if it turns out that there's a wider problem. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:33, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Justlettersandnumbers. I did check to see who wrote the article (although it wasn't because of the copyvio, it was because the way it was written, I suspected it might have been a PR firm). It would be pretty bad if a long-tenured, FA-credited editor had a copyvio. Let me know if you need any help; I know how to use the Earwig copyvio detector from DYK, although in this case that tool wouldn't have worked because all of the sources that were copied from were archive.org, which didn't appear in the results when I ran the Earwig tool on the Karen Briggs article. I'll keep that template in mind, too. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 17:16, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Long War (mod)
[edit]On 30 October 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Long War (mod), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Long War
[edit]So I noticed you nominated Long War for GAN. I was looking at its sources and saw PCGamesN being used. The VG Project determined it to be unreliable after discussing it. By any chance do you have another source to replace it? GamerPro64 03:31, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi GamerPro64. There was one minor piece of information that I could only find cited in PCGamesN, but everything else I could substantiate using other sources. PCGamesN has now been removed entirely from the article. Other than that, do you see anything else that should be changed to smooth the GAN review? The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 03:53, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
- In terms of sources, GameRanx's reliability is up in the air but isn't a concern. Don't think the wiki entry in the External Links section is needed. I think you might be all right for the time being. GamerPro64 03:59, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
- GamerPro64: The Wiki's entry was suggested by the Long War community at Reddit's /r/xcom. After I wrote the article, I took it to them to make sure that I wasn't missing anything important. That Wiki is incredibly comprehensive, and they consider it a pretty important resource. If it doesn't have to go, I'd prefer to leave it there. As for GameRanx, I'm not excited about cutting another source, but I suppose that I can cross that bridge if I have to. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 04:11, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
- Very well. I'm not keen on doing GANs anyway. Good luck on the nomination, though. GamerPro64 04:17, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi The Squirrel Conspiracy,
The Wikipedia Asian Month will begin in less than an hours, and once again, thank you for signing up! Let's help the world know more about Asia! Below are a few reminders for you:
- Please check out the rules here. Some rules have been adjusted—the most important being that on the English Wikipedia, stubs may be expanded with some limitations.
- Do take the time to read the Q&A if you have any questions, or ask on the talk page.
- The list of participants has been alphabetized so you can more easily find your name and report your contributions.
- There is a template that you can use on your user page. {{Template:User Asian Month}}

Pssst
[edit]I think you were looking at the incorrect source. Home Computing Weekly's review of the game states that graphics are indeed "colourful" and gameplay as "smooth". It's the only such review of the game too, I'd check out the GA review for more details. JAGUAR 00:11, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- And on top of that, how on earth is this original research and this false? The Personal Computer Games magazine states that "Pssst was chosen because of Ultimate's famous graphics" for the game of 1983! JAGUAR 00:14, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- Jaguar: The issue with the fourth issue of Personal Computing Games source was that you used the word "best" in quotes, which implies that the word best was used in the source. It is not, which is why I changed the wording to reflect that it was included on the best games list on account of its graphics. The statements are similar, but the correction avoided using the word "best".
- The issue with the second issue of Personal Computing Games source was that you claimed it was a "Best Software of All Time" list. It clearly says at the bottom that it's a chart of top selling software from the past month.
- The issue with the Retro Games! Now source is that you took the statement "a taste of things to come" as a reference to future critical acclaim for the studio. The source does not actually say that, however. It could just as easily be read as a statement on improvements to game graphics.
- The first and third of these errors could perhaps be negotiated, but the second is egregious and cannot remain in the article. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:30, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- I have opened a GA reassessment at Talk:Pssst/GA2. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 15:44, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. An apology
[edit]I owe you an apology for not supporting you in the DYK nominations you made on some of the articles I created. I was totally in the dark about the developments, or else, I could have contributed to the discussion in a positive way. I never got any notification nor mail, and came to know about the status when I randomly checked on them, by which time, the discussion was over and done with; a ping in any of the talks would have sent me a notification. My apologies for failing you.--jojo@nthony (talk) 16:32, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- Tachs, there is no need to apologize. You did the hard work of writing the articles. All I did was run them through the DKY process. If I had more time, I'd nominate a bunch more Asia Month articles, because I think that great work is being done as part of the initiative, and I want it to be recognized. Hi Mate! Thanks for successfully nominating some of my articles. I have created another one on Swaminathan Sivaram, which has a piece of information which may make a good hook for DYK. Cheers!! --jojo@nthony (talk) 15:55, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the nomination of Swaminathan Sivaram. Mohan Kameswaran is another article with a few leads worthy of DYK hooks. DYK for Estrella de Chile
[edit]Just wondering why that one is up for no pic? There are few with good drama and a strong pic. It seems a waste. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:38, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
- Philafrenzy - There was already an image in every prep area. While I do agree that the image you included with the nomination was nice, I'm not going to bump an image that someone else put in a prep area (even though I do have an issue with someone putting only the image hook in the prep area and not putting in any of the other seven hooks). The alternative would be for you to ask to wait until there's a prep area with an image slot available, but there are many more hooks with images than there are slots to run them, so even if you did wait, you still might not get the image slot. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:24, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- I understand. I am more than happy to wait. I think this one has a nice combination of clickable hook and strong pic which, as you know, many don't. What's the process for doing that? Philafrenzy (talk) 00:38, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Philafrenzy - I have pulled it from prep. See my message on the nomination page. ([1]). The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:44, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- I was the one who promoted the image hooks, and would have selected Estrella de Chile if I hadn't reviewed it. I didn't promote all seven hooks because I was hoping that the oldest 7 noms (all of which I reviewed) would be chosen and moved up to complete the sets. I personally am disapointed that more of the older articles were not moved to prep. Best.4meter4 (talk) 00:50, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- 4meter4 - I like to promote the oldest ones first, but I will skip over one if I think that the hook has grammatical/flow/punctuation issues and I can't come up with a better way to say it, if I think that the hook is utterly uninteresting but can't convince myself to tell the nominator that, if the nomination has a bunch of controversy attached to it (I don't consider myself senior enough of an editor to wade into that stuff), or if the hook isn't suitable for the prep area I'm working on (if it already has too many hooks about one topic or one country, or if I need a good 8 slot). I did notice that you were reviewing a lot of nominations, and I thank you for that. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:56, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll try and not just promote images in future without completing the set. Best,4meter4 (talk) 00:58, 29 November 2015 (UTC) ;-)
- 4meter4 - It's really not that big of a deal; please don't trouble yourself on my account. I mainly don't like it because I get worried that I'm going to cause an edit conflict finishing the prep. That the process runs smoothly is far more important than whatever personal preferences I have. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 01:05, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

The Squirrel Conspiracy, it would appear that the nominations page has hit its upper limit of transclusions, which is why your nomination isn't showing up under January 7. Even so, that is where it belongs, so I've moved it back.
You'll note that none of the special occasion hooks are transcluding either; this is also due to that upper limit having been hit. I'll see if there's anything I can do to improve the situation, though what helps most is promoting approved hooks to the prep areas, since once they've been promoted they no longer show up on the page. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:48, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks! I fixed Prep 1, which was a hook short because of a pulled hook, but I can't do anything else tonight. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 05:01, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Kate Chappell
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedia volunteer The Squirrel Conspiracy! I wonder if I might persuade you to retract your delete nomination/vote for Kate Chappell? Your rationale is equivalent to saying Bridget Tan is not notable outside Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics. Both women deserve standalone biographies to provide details which are not that germane to articles on the organizations they founded. Thank you! Jokestress (talk) 21:55, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
