Hi - thanks for drafting the article on The Pink Bans, it's very relevant for the organised labour project where I spend quite a bit of time. Unfortunately, the draft you submitted contained material in it which was close paraphrasing from the NSW Trades Hall and I've had to decline the submmission and remove that material. Wikipedia is quite strict around issues of copyright - I hops this is not too disappointing. I'd be happy to look over a revised text - feel free to {{ping}}
me. Regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 20:26, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for the review and comments. I'm mostly used to data driven papers and writing so Wikipedia and more narrative writing is very new to me, considering what I wrote ended up accidentally being paraphrasing I guess I have a decent amount to learn. I'll learn from this and see if I can seek some advice from people at my university on how to avoid paraphrasing sources in narrative writing.
- If you have any resources you'd suggest, feel free to send them so I can improve!
- I'll prepare a new Background section and extended 'Pink ban' section soon!
- I am a little worried about making the same mistake where I say X, Y, Z happened but in a similar way to something I've read in the past.
- Would the best way forward be posting in the draft but not submitting or? TheGhostGum (talk) 21:13, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @TheGhostGum - you're welcome, happy to help.
- In terms of writing and avoiding paraphrasing have at look at this: WP:PARAPHRASE, in particular the sections "Example" and "How to write acceptable content". I think with practice this kind of issue becomes less of a problem for most editors.
- Unfortunately, it's important to avoid any close parapharing anywhere in Wikipedia, whether in draft space, talk pages or main (article) space. The copyright rules apply equally to whichever space the material is sitting as ultimately everything is on Wikipedia servers.
- Feel free to ask me any questions and I will help where I can. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 07:19, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
Welcome!
