Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Tharprocess1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your edit to Draft:Thar Process does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Mz7 (talk) 00:40, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am new to wikipedia and did not realize I had not followed the website rules for unintentionally using the site for advertising. I do work for the company but my intentions are to give out information on what our company is and does since many do not understand what CO2 processing is used for. If there is any way to appeal the block in order for me to properly create a page that follows guildelines I would greatly appreciate it. Let me know what I can do to fix this.

Decline reason:

Closing procedurally since this request did not address the username issue; the current one does. — Daniel Case (talk) 03:48, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi! My name is Tharprocess1 (talk) 18:54, 30 November 2021 (UTC)KirstenTharprocess1 (talk) 18:54, 30 November 2021 (UTC) and I was wondering how I can remake my wikipedia pages that was blocked indefinitely. Thank you for your help Alexis. Kirsten Ovick[reply]

At least you'll need to request a different username. This can be done at m:Special:GlobalRenameRequest. Usernames must refer to a specific person, not an organization because accounts may not be shared between different people. "Kirsten from Thar Process" or "Kirsten Ovick" for example would be acceptable. The next step would be to convince an administrator that you want to contribute to the encyclopedia in general. For example, I could imagine you'd be interested in contributing to supercritical carbon dioxide in an informative way. (not to list your company on it) If you are unblocked, you'll have to disclose payment (and follow the other points from that policy) and you'll need to comply with Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. I know, it's a lot. Let me know if you have further questions. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 19:15, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alexis, Thank you again for all of your help. I just recently submitted my username change request and will hopefully have that done sometime this week. In the meantime, I was wondering what else I should be doing to get my account unblocked. You said I would have to convince an administrator that I want to use my account for informative reasons, where would I submit something like that? Also, what disclosure fee would I be paying? Let me know, thanks!Tharprocess1 (talk) 17:58, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You should sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), these will automatically be converted to your signature. You could alternatively enable "Discussion tools" in your preferences, this would show "[reply]" links after every message so you can easily reply to them without worrying about signatures or indentation. Convincing an administrator can be done right here in your unblock request. There are no fees to pay, what I meant is that you have to publicly disclose the fact that the company pays you, see Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure#How to disclose. You'll have to create a user page and put a template on it, but you can't do this before you are unblocked. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 17:56, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice Alexis, I will do that from now on. I submitted my username change request and was denied it because it said I had edited my page multiple times for promotional purposes. Like I said before I was not aware that was not allowed and that was not my overall intention. I was trying to show what Thar Process was about. Do you know of any other way I can get unblocked to get a chance to remake my page in the correct way that follows Wiki protocols because I would really like another chance to fix this situation. Let me know what you think, thanks. Tharprocess1 (talk) 13:12, 2 December 2021 (UTC) are there any other solutions you might suggest if this unblock is not successful? Tharprocess1 (talk) 18:33, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to hear that. I've requested a review of the denial: m:Steward requests/Username changes#Tharprocess1. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 10:27, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Alexis Jazz, the block notice above explains how to do both unblock & rename requests in a single request.
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
As for your request at meta, a user is not going to be renamed to "?" - Cabayi (talk) 10:58, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cabayi, not sure how I missed that. Kirsten, please try adding {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} here. As for my request on meta, that's not the request, I just don't (and can't) know what username Kirsten has requested. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 11:04, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! The username I had requested was "Kirsten from Thar" and I will do the unblock request as you both suggested. I again appreciate your help so much while I am still figuring out how to use and create on wikipedia.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Username implied overall company usage instead of a person from the company using this account to inform others about what we do with carbon dioxide. I am new to wikipedia and did not realize I had not followed the website rules for unintentionally using the site for advertising. I do work for the company but my intentions are to give out information on what our company is and does since many do not understand what CO2 processing is used for. If there is any way to appeal the block in order for me to properly create a page that follows guidelines I would greatly appreciate it and will do my absolute best make this page acceptable to wikipedia standards.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.
Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 11:15, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The name you had requested was "Kirsten from Thar Process", not "Kirsten from Thar". Anyway, I fixed the template. (the <nowiki> wasn't meant to be copied, it's used to show the code for a template without actually rendering the template itself) You should be aware that "inform others about what we do with carbon dioxide" is typically not within the scope of Wikipedia. Information here should be verifiable using reliable secondary sources with limited exceptions. Just generally improving our information about carbon dioxide using reliable sources and without referring to your company should be fine though. Any contribution related to your company would have to be made as an edit request on the talk page of the article. Photos or videos you can personally take from equipment/processes in your company is very valuable to us, you can upload those to Wikimedia Commons. They have to be taken by you though, otherwise we'd need permission from the photographer as that's typically the copyright holder. (such permission would go through the volunteer response team, so it's more direct if you just make pictures/videos yourself) — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 17:01, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alexis,

I greatly appreciate your help on this issue. To talk about what you had said about me being able to include edits on a carbon dioxide page, I had a few questions. I did research on other company's wikipedia pages such as Oracle, John Deere, Spotify, and Komatsu. They all had similar formats and information to what I had my page. The only difference was that I elaborated more on what services we provided and what our systems do in detail. I am curious, (without including me elaborating on our systems) since those pages are not being blocked for their information, is my page being blocked for being created by a company member unlike those pages. Let me know what you think about the matter. And for the photos I uploaded, I did take those photos myself with a professional camera, is there anything I need to do for it? Thanks. Tharprocess1 (talk) 17:43, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your photo is fine, but we'd always appreciate if you can provide more! For example, a photo that shows a process or material that is described in one of our articles could always benefit from a visual aid. Your page was (not is) tagged for deletion for several reasons: it lacked independent reliable sources, it didn't have a sufficient neutral point of view and was considered part promotional. In this particular case, I chose to remove parts that made it look promotional (for example, a list of products is not appropriate for most companies), added sources and the article currently still exists at Thar Process. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 18:35, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

rename request

[edit]

Hey, 331dot, can you rename this account so I can discuss managing their COI so they can be unblocked? —valereee (talk) 16:24, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! How would I rename it and what would be an acceptable rename?98.111.204.187 (talk) 15:59, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kirsten, is that you? It looks like it's been renamed to Kirsten from Thar Process, which is an acceptable username. See if you can log in. —valereee (talk) 16:06, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Valeree, Apologies for the mix up responding without logging in. I am logged in now. Kirsten from Thar Process (talk) 16:13, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, editing logged out isn't necessarily a problem. It's a problem if you're doing it to hide something or evade a block or ban. When you log in, if you click 'keep me logged in' you won't have to remember.
So, what I want to discuss is the ways in which you can manage your conflict of interest. Basically we want you to agree to:
  1. Not directly editing any articles about your employer or other employees, or any edit that involves your employer or other employees, such as mentions of them on other articles. You can make edit requests at the article talk page; there's information at WP:Edit requests. (The exception would for for actual libel of a living person; any editor can remove that on sight.)
  2. Disclose your COI on your user page, which if you're unblocked you'll be able to edit, at User:Kirsten from Thar Process.
  3. Learn our mysterious ways. :) There's a lot of policy to learn at WP. I'd strongly suggest you do the tutorial, which is at WP:Wikipedia Adventure, before you do any further editing. I do understand that as an employee of a corporation whose superiors have tasked with updating (or creating) an article about that corporation, you are a bit between a rock and a hard place. Learning more about how Wikipedia works will allow you to explain to your superiors why you can't request edit A, but you might be able to ask for edit B.
Does that sounds like something you'd be able to agree to? —valereee (talk) 16:27, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Thar Process, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thar Process moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Thar Process, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
