Re. Thiruvilaiyadal Copy Edit
[edit]Hello Thamizhan1994: Although I know nothing about Indian cinema I would be happy to go through the article and copy edit for grammar etc... over the next few days. Kind regards Twofingered Typist (talk) 12:44, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Twofingered Typist: I thought you were busy so I removed my request. Thank you for your response, Twofingered Typist. :) Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 13:01, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
Another Wikipedia user has started making edits to the article reverting some of my edits with grammatical mistakes. I have asked if they intend to continue with their edit, and, if so, I will have to withdraw. Twofingered Typist (talk) 20:49, 12 October 2015 (UTC)- I'm sorry for the delay in getting to the copyedit. This was the first chance I've had to log on since yesterday and I was going to make a start on it, but when I did I was met with edit conflicts. I told Twofingered Typist that he can continue with the copyedits, and I'll help out whenever he's finished. By the way, I didn't make any grammatical errors. I edit in large bursts and I was going to finish what I started but I thought everything got wiped with an edit conflict, so I gave up. Thamizhan, I'm sorry for the delay. If you want, I could review it for GA when you nominate it? JAGUAR 21:12, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Jaguar: I happened to notice the rating on Dr. Blofeld's great films list and he seemed to like it very much. So I was thinking of letting him do the review. :) Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 01:46, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Kailash, Jaguar can do the following.
- He can help in solving the comments at the GAR
- He can help Thamizhan in his future GA endeavour.
- He can help Thamizhan and you in your possible attempt to take this article further.
All the ways are beneficial. What say? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:33, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- At this moment, the article is nearing 100 sources (the most for any pre-2000 Tamil film before it became GA/FA), surpassing Chandralekha, which had 71 sources during its GA pass. According to me, any article must always have at least 100 sources before being taken to FAC (although I violated this during Kalidas due to limited information). If Thiruvilaiyadal were to be taken to FA (which is inevitable), both me and Thamizhan would be the nominators. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:44, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- I find Thiruvilaiyadal a potential FA candidate. However consult Dr. Blofeld before that. All the best. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:01, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Thiruvilaiyadal
[edit]Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Thiruvilaiyadal you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Dr. Blofeld -- Dr. Blofeld (talk) 14:40, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Any particular reason for creating this? If yes, try taking it further. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:15, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Pavanjandhyala: See the GAR page for its origin. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 12:16, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- Interesting. Anyways, all the best. And if this article lasts, as i said earlier, try to take it further. So, a break after Thiruvilaiyadal. Studies? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:32, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'll actually be doing my research on my Final Year Project during the later part of October which would keep me busy. :) Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 12:34, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- Then when can i expect you to return? mid November? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:15, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Pavanjandhyala: Possibly around mid-to-late December. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 13:44, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!
[edit]The Editor's Barnstar
You brought Thiruvilaiyadal, which seemingly had no potential due to limited sources, to GA status; you made the impossible possible! IMO you convinced me that it can be taken to FA. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:48, 16 October 2015 (UTC) |
A barnstar for you!
[edit]The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
For all the efforts you made in bringing the article of Thiruvilaiyadal, one of the historically significant Tamil films, to GA status. Hope you take it further. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:16, 16 October 2015 (UTC) |
- Thank you both, Kailash29792 and Pavanjandhyala. It was a privilege to do so! Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 13:29, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- If you could just make one more GA, you would score a triple hat-trick. Decide carefully what it will be, but I think you deserve a well-deserved break before you begin work on that. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:33, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Kailash is right. I wanted Mayabazar to be my 9th GA. Within 24 hours, both my GANs Mayabazar and Gopala Gopala became my 8th and 9th GAs. Though i am satisfied with my 9th GA, i wished that the former could have been a better choice. Nayakan is indeed an interesting choice and i suggest you to go ahead with it. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:52, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Pavanjandhyala: My next plan would be on taking Nayakan (1987) to GA and possibly further as well. Another article which I am aiming to take to FA is Guru (2007), which Kailash would remember. For both of them, Baradwaj Rangan's Conversations with Mani Ratnam would prove useful. I have the information on Nayakan with me from Kailash. It would be great if I also had information on the latter. As for Sivaji Ganesan's films, I am keen on expanding Navarathri (1964) and Muthal Mariyathai (1985). Which MGR films do you think have GA potential, Kailash29792? Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 13:53, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- I however would continue working on more contemporary films. Telugu cinema does not have a Dhananjayan, Rangan and Bhaskaran to help me work on old Telugu films. You guys are lucky. Utilise it well. And you can try either Enga Veettu Pillai or Aayarathil Oruvan in the case of MGR (i don't know Tamil, so forgive me if there are any spelling mistakes). Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:02, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Pavanjandhyala: There might be some film books in Telugu. Don't give up. I am sure you will find them. Enga Veettu Pillai and Aayarathil Oruvan do have GA potential (especially the latter, which had a re-release recently). Anbe Vaa was a special MGR film as it did not have the trademark MGR swashbuckling gimmicks or political and social allusions commonly seen in his films. Also, Dhananjayan wrote a lot about it, thereby making it easier for me to take it to GA. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 14:05, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- I tried finding them in the central library and the British library. Both were useless. If i could've found them, why would i wait this long for Mayabazar's FA? Anyways, i have being achieving what i want (small time goals). S/O Satyamurthy (for Upendra) and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (for its content) are my recent GA successes and i am happy for them, the latter being my 18th GA. List of accolades received by Dookudu became an FL, my first. It's enough for now. When i will be back, i will resume work on Mayabazar. Who knows? It too may become a FA!
