EIIR - Lady of the Garter?
[edit]I'm not sure that LG is the correct post-nominal for EIIR; she is the Sovereign of the Order, not a Lady of it. PrinceOfCanada (talk) 16:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- No, it is most certainly not correct — the Queen holds no British honours whatsoever because she is the fons honorum (Fountain of Honour). She can't hold honours of which she is the fount...
- And by the way, the British Royalty style guide precludes listing postnominals in the lead. Please revert your work — if you disagree and believe the postnominals should be there, you should raise the issue here. I look forward to working with you. Yours DBD 16:55, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Talk page blanking
[edit]Dear Sir, I wish to advise you that the deletion of the content on your talk page is regarded as extremely poor form and indeed rather impolite. If your talk page gets too long, you may archive (see my talk page for an example). I shall assume good faith this once, but advise you that in future, I will regard such a move as tantamount to ignoring other wikipedians' views. If you would like any help at all, at any point, I offer my humble services — my talk page is always open! Yours faithfully DBD 17:07, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Style
[edit]Long standing wiki precedent is not to include styles in the opening of an article, so articles on bishops should not begin The Right Reverend, the only form of address that is used is "Sir" or "Dame" where applicable. See WP:Manual of Style (biographies)#Honorific prefixes. Please stop adding the style back in to Rupert Hoare. David Underdown (talk) 10:26, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Elizabeth Conyers
[edit]A tag has been placed on Elizabeth Conyers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ironholds (talk) 00:11, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi there. I noticed you blanked this page just after you created it. I'm not sure whether it was deliberate, so I've restored it. If you think a page should be deleted (say, you created it by mistake) and you're its only significant author, you can tag it for speedy deletion by putting {{db-author}} at the top of the page. Best, Iain99Balderdash and piffle 19:11, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- I tagged Alice Eccles for deletion as it is a repost of deleted material. A deletion debate decided that this individual did not meet the notability guidelines. The discussion is here. Textbook, if you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Textbook! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 340 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
- Stuart Beake - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Articles for deletion nomination of Clare McLaren-Throckmorton
[edit]I have nominated Clare McLaren-Throckmorton, an article that you created, for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:30, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
The article Stuart Beake has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
Stuart Beake – news, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Sandra Mary Caldwell has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The single (12-year-old) reference given in this article fails to establish the subject's notability, or if in fact the person in question still holds the title this article ascribes to them. Further, most mentions of the subject online are either sourced to this Wikipedia article and contain little to no further information, or otherwise refer to Caldwell only by her title with no additional information at all. This source too would seem to indicate Caldwell has left government ("retired public servant") and gone to work in the private sector.
