Question on MOTD
Can anyone close a nomination, even if he or she voted on the motto? I moved three nominations into the awaiting list, and I'd like to close a couple, just to get a feel of how to do it. Thanks in advance. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:37, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Oh I see now, users involved in the discussion can't close it. Could you still show me how? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:38, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have a question as well, can I make a decision on whether or not a motto is approved, and if I can, how do I reopen it (I know how to list it on the approved list), and how do I decide a scheduled date if it is approved and if I can even approve/disapprove mottos. ~Steptrip 00:09, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- To reopen a nomination, do you just cut the motto and post it at the top of the "in review" section? ~Steptrip 00:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- How many votes does a nomination need to be approved? ~Steptrip 00:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much, Tewy. That makes things a whole lot easier. I've also looked at your comments on Mr. Steptrips's page, so I think I have a pretty firm understanding of the process. Thanks again! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 00:58, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I already have another question... :). The last motto on the awaiting list has three support votes (one from me). Is this enough to go ahead and say that it can be used? Or should it be re-opened? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:07, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- That's the one. Thanks for your tip. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm kind of confused about the edits procedure, proposed by you. If a motto has several edits, is the one with the most supports approved, and the other ones rejected? Also, are mottos with too few votes always reopened, even if it's one of several edits? Were there any mottos that were rejected and forgotten even with too few votes? Also, is there an archive for past mottos? I really think the mottos should be archived, or at least removed from the in review section, if it's already on the nominations page. This is because if the in review section is too long, it can cause browser problems, but the nominations page can be edited over several sections. This problem hasn't occured before, did some rule about it change? Also, great job with everything else on MOTD. PS. I created the motd star. Thanks. - Wow! You're really getting bombarded by questions! I have one simple question: what happens after a motto is add to the "Decisions to be acted on" section? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 23:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for not signing that previous message. Would you like for me to help you better clarify the guidelines and post it on the mottoes pages? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 00:40, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Reply. Hi. Thanks for answering my questions so thouroughly, and yes, you did answer practically all my questions. I could still not find a direct reason why the in review page is being so large, I thinkit is because of your mass reopenings and closings, and the huge number of mottos. I am beginning to resee mottos already forgotten for weeks. I don't really mind the page being so large, I think my browser can handle it. I guess the problem is,some mottos are so boring or unpopular, people are not paying attention to them, not even enough to oppose on its boringness. Anyway, thanks again. Bye for now. AstroHurricane001(Talk+Contribs+Ubx) 00:57, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Ich bin ein Wikipedian
Hey, man. When I looked at the previous nomination, I noticed it was different. It was Benutzer, not Wikipedian. I even noticed that you would support this change. So, I thought that this nomination should be treated as a new one, since technically, is hasn't been nominated yet, and more so if the original version wasn't even used. I know I realized this after I withdrew the nomination, but I still would like to hear your opinion. Regards... - Mtmelendez (TALK|UB|HOME) 22:21, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey man, no problem. I'll remove my withdrawal. Thanks for understanding. - Mtmelendez (TALK|UB|HOME) 22:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
please decide on it soon!
Hi. I realize you are one of the most active users on motd, and I could ask some other users but I don't want to spam or canvass. If I posted on the project talkpage, it might not be answered in time. We really need to fill in the today's motto page. I mean, all over wikipedia, it is appearing as a redlink. Please quickly gain consensus over today's motto so we can fix it. Usually we have months, but today we only have a few hours, if not a few minutes. Please either you or someone else try to fix this and gain consensus. Sorry if I'm bothering you if I should be asking someone else, and I hope you don't mind. Thanks. - Hi. It wasn't meant to be a joke on my part. I only remebered that there was a motto like that after you showed it to me. I was wondering where the April fools' nominations had gone, I couldn't find it in the history. Also, I see you turned your page into AAAAAAAAAA! Why not add the diagonal banner at the top? Thanks. Beaten to the punch!!!
Hello there. After my little prank on WP:AFD, I was dismayed to discover that shortly before it had been targeted by you! So much for my originality... :-P I hope that my prank will last longer than yours though. ;-) Here's some recognition for you beating me to the punch. An April Fools' Day Record of Mischief
At 00:00, 1 April 2007 (UTC), I left a fun little note at Wikipedia:Sandbox with the caption, Properties of a choza (diff). Shortly after, at 00:06, 1 April 2007 (UTC), User:Bobo The Ninja responded on my talk page (here) with the caption, Thank you for your recent vandalism of, I mean, contribution to, the Sandbox. Your turn to be the fool! Cheers, Ninja! (diff). Here is a copy of his code he left:
<div class="usermessage plainlinks">You have '''<font color=002BB8>[[April Fools' Day|new messages]]</font> (<font color=002BB8>[[April Fools' Day|last change]]</font>).'''</div>
I will be deleting the message soon, as (sadly) April Fools' Day has passed, and I want to archive it somehow. Below is a record of the other choza diffs I made that "tricky" day.
[2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], and [11].

- Heh, talking to myself. I deleted it. --Tewy 03:07, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Proposed Archival Solution
Since practically no one has been at MOTD in the past few days besides you and I, I figured that I should make the proposal on your talk page. Should I set up MiszaBot II to automatically archive all MOTD talk pages? Also, should images (e.g. ) be used in votes on nominations? If either one should be done, please inform me, and I will gladly do it. ~Steptrip 14:36, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was talking about the archival of discussions at WT:MOTD and talk subpages at MOTD, not the archival of nominations, and as for the images in votes, they would make it easier when closing a nomination (kind of like what Vanderdecken, Fir0002, and I do at WP:FPC). ~Steptrip 18:32, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- True, I now know that the images are peripheral to the boldfaced words. Thanks, ~Steptrip 20:03, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

- Are you just subst'ing a template? Also, I've created a template that puts links in a box at the bottom of a person's talk page, on a random note. ~Steptrip 23:07, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was talking about the messages you gave me and Cremepuff when I said, "Are you just subst'ing some template?" Also, when I was talking about templates, I was referring to {{Usertalk footer}} (I do use the 4 tilde way, as well). ~Steptrip 23:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Just to clear everything up, the template didn't have anything to do with the signature messages, I said it on the spur of the moment. Thanks, ~Steptrip 00:56, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks!
That makes sense... What I've figured out is that I didn't have my search preferences set up to look for user pages in the first place, and I hadn't thought of the case-sensitivity issue. The mystery is solved! Diabloman 00:21, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

RE:Motd nomclosing
I was approving the mottoes on the In review sections directly, not migrating them to the Awaiting decision section. The only reason I used {{Motd nomclosing}} was because, due to the size and duration of my edit, I didn't want to run into an edit conflict. ~ Magnus animum ∵ ∫ φ γ 22:08, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

- Wow! I had to use four tabs (awating decision-for mottoes to be closed, in review-for pasting reopened mottoes, archive-for placing approved and rejected mottoes, scedule-for pasting approved mottoes) when I closed them! Your way seems a lot easier, though, and it should save me some time. I'm also working on a MotD client-operated bot to close noms easier, but I'm having troubles at this point. I'll be sure to let you know if I finish it. Thanks for the tips! *Cremepuff222* 23:28, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello Tewy, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Christmas tree-7534301.jpg) was found at the following location: User talk:Tewy/Archive 1. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Missing image Image:Georgia Aquarium Tropical Tank.jpg
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Georgia Aquarium Tropical Tank.jpg, by Strangerer, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Georgia Aquarium Tropical Tank.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Georgia Aquarium Tropical Tank.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page, and put a note on its talk page. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Georgia Aquarium Tropical Tank.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 22:00, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
