Orphaned non-free media (File:Utah grizzlies ahl 200x200.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Utah grizzlies ahl 200x200.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:58, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Hello Ccwaters. To answer your question, on the history page, the page creation diffs begin with "Created page with" in the edit summary. -- Samir 07:24, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi Ccwaters!
I see you put a deletion tag on the page I created Sayre Metro Area I obtained the information on the page from the following link, I would love to have the page stay on. Also just so you know the actual name of the Valley IS the Penn-York Valley, It has a 'nickname' of "The Valley".

CBJ/OTT trade draft pick
[edit]Looks like I just ass/u/med that one. I should know better. Skudrafan1 (talk) 16:06, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- TSN reported it as a 2009 pick about a minute after I removed the date from the transactions page. :) Skudrafan1 (talk) 16:16, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. In the case of a category like this one, parent categories are provided automatically when you include a {{Sockpuppet category}} template.

Your recent post at Talk:University of Maine violates WP:Civility
[edit]Brevity does not make it otherwise. It has been noted for future reference. Mervyn Emrys (talk) 17:39, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits. Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write (almost) whatever you want. Mervyn Emrys (talk) 17:54, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
CC, perhaps you and some colleagues could take at Mervyn Emrys' recent postings on the University of Maine talk page. I'm seriously concerned for some of my fellow Wikipedians, as this guy clearly is bring a knife to something that could easily be ajudicated fairly following Wikipedia rules. He's like trying to erase the word "flagship" from existence.--76.179.60.206 (talk) 22:07, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- Not so. By all means use the "flagship" metaphor, silly as it may be, but use it correctly following WP:NPOV. Is that really so much to ask? Mervyn Emrys (talk) 21:01, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Faked warning templates
[edit]Actually, that one was directed at me, as far as I can tell, responding to my "politer than necessary" comment.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 16:30, 23 March 2009 (UTC):
- Ah... ccwaters (talk) 16:35, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, if you are referring to the warning above this section, it refers to User:CCwaters use of WP:Lame on the University of Maine article page, which is not a Wikipedia policy as I understand it, and placing it where he/she did seemed a poor attempt at humor (that is the generous interpretation). You might also notice I have edited constructively on all the University of Maine System pages, not just the Orono page, which really was of little interest to me at the time. Mervyn Emrys (talk) 20:59, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, my mistake. Sorry about that; the timing of the messages confused me.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 22:12, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Laing
[edit]You said: "Hi. I too find the Laing situation puzzling. I actually bumped into your off-wiki inquiries about it. I think your most recent solution of taking him off the template completely is definitely not the way to go. He's on the roster in some capacity, as i don't see any transactions indicating movement (IR or reassignment) [1] [2] . I also wouldn't use the Caps site roster page as the authoritative source in the matter: I routinely update the league roster templates and the Caps is routinely lacking on updates and injuries."
Yeah, I wasn't using the roster on the Caps' site, which tends to be terrible. When I said he's not on the one given to the media I meant the one in Friday's Game Notes e-mail. That one tends to be a lot more reliable in my experience than either their site or the NHL's page. Hopefully it will clear up this week. We certainly know he's not going to be playing until next season, that's for sure. 1995hoo (talk) 23:40, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Re.: deleted article
[edit]An article listed under the name of a regional writer ("E.J.W.") has been deleted. That's OK by me. Judging from what is left of the discussion concerning it, I take it the assumption was that it was autobiography. It was not. The author was someone I know who misguidedly thought to be paying a compliment. The person named in the title of that article happens to be a very private person these days and wholly disapproves of public exposure related to article, title, or, now, author of deleted article. (I also completely reject his editing "contributions" to the article on Rochester NY.) This is posted to you, because I tried to delete the title of that article from the tag discussion and was directed to you. I am also posting to LtPowers who made the autobiography charge explicit, and will post it to MBisanz when he returns from vacation. Thank you. Ewnnrj (talk) 02:51, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I thought the same thing, but it was an AP so I figured I would have got the same exact article elsewhere. NHL Tiebreakers
[edit]Don't you think that if you have something called 'tiebreakers' that ties must exist? Otherwise, there is nothing to settle? :-) I put the order of the teams that are tied on points, only to indicate that they are tied on points. I only noticed today that you care enough to remove the tie rankings. In general, when discussing the current standings, people say that teams are tied if they have the same number of points. Since teams have played different numbers of games, we generally put the team that has played less games higher up in the order, although they could go out and lose the games in hand. To me, they are tied on points until the end of the season, when the tiebreaking procedures are then used, when teams have played equal numbers of games. It's all a bit informal until the finish. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this... Alaney2k (talk) 21:23, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
