Speedy deletion nomination of LFGdating.com
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on LFGdating.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. GSK ● ✉ ✓ 21:08, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- Regarding your comment on the now-deleted talk page:
- This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because I am a Co-Founder for LFGdating.com and wanted to create a page for us. Maybe i'm exceptionally naive on this point, but I thought this was one of the purposes for this site. Am I wrong?
- Yes, you are.
- Your status as co-founder, and your desire to create a page for your business, are irrelevant. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia of human knowledge. This isn't Facebook or MySpace; go to one of those sites if you want a publicity page.
- Your article violated some policies and guidelines:
- Wikipedia is NOT a publicity or promotion medium. Continued attempts to use Wikipedia to promote may result in your account being blocked and your domain name being blacklisted (note, Google and other search engines scan the Wikipedia blacklist, so this may affect your search engine rankings).
- You have a clear conflict of interest. You should NOT write articles about topics with which you have a close association, due to the difficulty of maintaining a neutral point of view as required for encyclopedia articles.
- Your company does not appear to be notable for the purposes of an encyclopedia. WP:CORP and related guidelines spell out the criteria that a company must meet before it merits an article here.
- Those are the reasons why your article was deleted. ~Amatulić (talk) 00:35, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
