Tamaneden, this is the English version of Wikipedia. Thus, the language of Indonesia is Indonesian, not Bahasa Indonesia which is the Indonesian word. --Merbabu 10:01, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

English Please
[edit]Hi Tamaneden. Please remember this is the English language version of Wikipedia, thus we need to use, for example, "Indonesian" and "Central Java", rather than "Bahasa Indonesia" and "Jawa Tengah". Of course, in limited places where appropriate, the Indonesian may be put in brackets afterwards. You cite the example of the French page. Well, if they have used French instead of English then that is INCORRECT and copy someone else who is incorrect is no justification for doing the same incorrect thing here.
On a related note, i noticed you put in some quite informative peices about the Indonesian media, however, they were mixed in with your use of incorrect "Bahasa Indonesia" instead of "Indonesian" and they were reverted and lost. I would support you reinstating these references as long as you don't put "Bahasa Indonesia" all the way through. FOr example, in the Indonesian language version of Wikipedia, do you refer to "English" or "Bahasa Inggris". And in the English Wikipedia, we don't say "Deutsch", we say "German". As i said, you media edits were otherwise good - please keep up the good work. Cheers. Merbabu 12:58, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- Could you please explain to me why the OFFICIAL names of Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia and Tohoku in Japan have never been translated into English even though it is VERY easy to do so? Tamaneden
- Tamaneden, I am not sure of the relevance that these Malaysian and Japanese places have on the question at hand. I suggest they have no relevance. This is an English encyclopedia - as such we use ENglish words. It is a fairly simple but significant concept and I know you know this, as it has been explained to you a number of times by a number of people (ie, I've seen this discussion page but particularly all the history pages of articles you have changed). As it is in an English encyclopedia we use English words where available. Not all cases have English translations from the native language - that is FINE! But where there is a translation use that. OK, maybe it is inconsistent but it is still the right thing to do. Examples:
- Deutschland => Germany
- Nippon => Japan
- Espana => Spain
- Jawa => Java
- Pasar Minggu => Pasar Minggu (yes, that is correct, NOT translated)
- Timor Leste => East Timor (this ones interesting and illustrates my point about inconsistent doesn't mean incorrect. The offial name in English actually is Timor Leste, but the accepted and used name is East Timor).
- Munchen => Munich
- Berlin => Berlin (note these last two, one changes, the other doesn't).
- Nusa Tenggara Barat => West Nusa Tenggara (not West South East Islands - although it can be fully translated, the accepted English is only a part translation).
- The point being, some names are translated, others not. YEs, it is inconsistent in places, but you just have to accept it. If you are going to argue that we must write "Jawa Tengah" then why are you not arguing for the use of "deutschland", for example? And sometimes not every thing fits neatly. Somethings we just have to accept.
- Once again, do not cite incorrect or correct but inconsistent examples/precedents from other countries. Just because they don't do the right thing doesn't mean we have to follow them. As for your specific example, we shouldn't really give it any attention, AND furthermore, i am not very familiar with the actual place. BUT the two words Negeri Sembilan would translate to "9 countries" but, that does not mean that the accepted ENglish name for this place is "Nine Countries", perhaps the accepted and USED English name is still "Negeri Sembilan".

[edit]Hi Tamaneden. Don't feel upset about the English translation? I think it is better to have commonly used English translation for non-Indonesian speaking people to understand Indonesia-related articles. So let us focus on how to make Indonesia-related articles better, hopefully many featured articles would emerge. You know that there is none, compared to hundreds (I think) from India. We need your help. Salam kenal. — Indon 12:43, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah - sorry if I nmay have offended you but it is a valid and important point. Please continue to edit - you made some good contributions on media which i already mentioned on this page. Happy editing. Merbabu 13:06, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Civil
[edit]It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! *drew 01:31, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- Tamaneden, thanks for your fine work on the media info over the last day - a great contribution. I know your intentions are good, but there is not need to link every occurence of a work (ie, Indonesian). Also, please don't call someone's edit vandalism just cos you don't agree with it or have had "problems" with the user in the past, rather please assume good faith. Merbabu 12:22, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
A request
[edit]Hi tamaneden. I see you are visiting quite a few indo-related articles. Can I ask a favour. COuld you insert the Indonesia Portal tag in each one you visit. Ie, you need to insert the text
. If the coding doesn't appear, just click edit on this page and you will see. Please put near end of article, above categories. If article has an External Links section, just put it there. Ie, see Mount Merbabu. If you can do this it would be great! Any questions, just let me know. Thanks! Merbabu 05:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Indonesia collaboration
[edit]Hi Tamaneden! It's the last few days of the Garuda Indonesia collaboration. Please contribute!!!
Also, could you please vote for the next fortnight's collaboration? Please vote down the bottom of this page. The collab for the fortnight will be decided this Sunday 26th (or Monday at the latest). By the way, we could also chose Garuda Indonesia for another week.
So please visit and help choose the next article. Any questions/comments, please let me know. I'd love to hear from you particularly if you have any good suggestions! :-) --Merbabu 10:26, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again, Tamaneden! This fortnight we've chosen: >>>Majapahit Kingdom<<<. Please help in referencing, check my newly added headings, improve prose, diagrams, but most importantly is RESEARCH so we can actually grow the article. Any other suggestions for improvement, please leave on the article's talk page. Yes, please discuss on talk page!
- Also, can you please post suggestions for the following fortnight's collaboration. Please leave your suggestions at the bottom of this page. Hopefully i will remember to remind you to vote in about a week (someone else remind me!).--Merbabu 14:24, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Hello there Tamaneden. For the next two weeks we have chosen >>>Indonesian War of Independence<<< for the Indonesia Collab. Also, please vote for the next fortnight. Maybe we should chose a stub article. So far, we have had already longish articles and they are therfore hard to expand. Here's a list of Indonesian underdeveloped articles: [1]. Please let me know if you have any suggestions (or if you do not want me to message you about the collabs). kind regards --Merbabu 12:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi there. This fortnight's Indonesia Collaboration is > > > Indonesian language < < <. Please contribute! Please nominate for the next collab here. What about choosing one the shorter Indonesia stubs this time? kind regards Merbabu 15:26, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

- New collaboration...
Hello everybody. I’ve updated the current Indonesia collaboration to > > > Central Java < < <
This article’s not in a very good condition but such a significant part of Indonesia, the cultural heart of the Javanese. Please contribute! Thanks to all those contributed to the previous collaboration Sidoarjo mud flow particularly Indon.
- The next collaboration...
For the next collaboration in a fortnight, I’d like to try something different. Let’s chose a stub rather than an already well-developed article. Here is a list of Indonesian stubs to choose (there’s two pages). Please check the article's importance rating – let's chose an important and significant article that will appeal to a broad range of people. Please do not choose an obscure and/or esoteric topic that is not very important. Please place your nomination here.
Any questions, please let me know. Kind regards --Merbabu 05:02, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
List of regencies & cities
[edit]Why did you redirect List of regencies and cities of Indonesia? According to the WP:LIST article, the name of list article should have "List" word. Also that I'm currently working on it to make the master list for regencies and cities. — Indon (reply) — 18:12, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's better that we discuss about this issue in the project talk page here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Indonesia#Regencies & cities
Tamaneden, I don't want to discourage your effort of making the list of regencies and cities of Indonesia. There are currently two articles, as you know. Both contain the same information. We should choose one, not making two competitive articles, which further confuses readers. I'm very much glad to improve article that you created and making the other redirects to it. However, there is certain Wikipedia rules and guidelines that we should follow. In this subject, WP:LIST is the guideline and according to it, the name of List article should have List of X title. I wouldn't mind if the content of List of regencies and cities of Indonesia looks like the one you are now working on it. Hope you understand. — Indon (reply) — 09:14, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Tamaneden, here's my proposal:
- Subdivisions of Indonesia → explains about how Indonesia administration is divided, from provinces, regencies, cities, subdistricts, villages, etc., including how leaders are elected, local representatives, etc.
- List of regencies and cities of Indonesia → list of all regencies and cities, organized per provinces. The layout is not fixed, you can redefine it. Actually I have a plan to make it more or less like List of volcanoes in Indonesia (which is a featured list). The article name with List of ... prefix is already a Wikipedia naming standard for list article.
- Regencies of Indonesia → explain more detail about regency, including its history from Dutch colonial period when it was still a regentschaap. But not listing again regencies.
- Cities of Indonesia → similar with the above, only it is about city.
- Cities and regencies of Indonesia → should redirect to List of regencies and cities of Indonesia, because the article name does not conform with the Wikipedia naming standard for list article.
- So let me know what you think. It's no use competing each other. There is not my or your article in Wikipedia. — Indon (reply) — 07:41, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Indonesia collaboration = Jakarta
[edit]Hello there Tamaneden, this fortnight's Indonesia project collaboration is > > > Jakarta < < <. Please contribute. The most important thing is to find reliable references for all existing information, and for any new info added.
Also, please help nominate an article for the next collaboration at the collab nomination page. An underdeveloped or stub article is preferred over a long and developed article. Please nominate up to two articles. any questions, please let me know. Kind regards and happy editing. --Merbabu 11:46, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Template:List of Cities of Indonesia
[edit]A tag has been placed on Template:List of Cities of Indonesia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:05, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
