Speedy deletion nomination of Soul Jah Love
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Soul Jah Love requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Υπογράφω (talk) 21:04, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

How to write a great article Please help me with... An idea of writing great article Takudzwa Chaita (talk) 21:13, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
- My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. However, I will also give a few pointers, based on what I have seen in the article you have created.
- No article should express any personal opinion, so you should never put anything in an article about what you feel or think, or whether someone is good or bad at anything, such as saying that someone is "the best singer".
- An article should start by telling us what the subject of the article is, such as "Joe Smith is a blues singer from Bogglehmpton in Wongershire, in England": it should not assume we all know who is being referred to and start telling us details about him or her. Even articles about subjects that everybody is likely to know about start by telling us who or what the subject is: for example, the article Barack Obama begins by telling us "Barack Hussein Obama II is an American politician who served as the 44th President of the United States", and Sun starts "The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System". It is even more important to start by introducing the subject when you are writing about someone or something that most people won't know anything about.
- Don't even start writing an article until you have made sure that the subject you are writing about satisfies Wikipedia's notability guidelines, because if you don't, the article is likely to be deleted pretty soon, and all the work you put into writing it will be wasted.
- I am leaving this request for help open, in case anyone else would like to add any advice. I am also giving you (below) some links to various pages that may help you to learn how to edit. Don't try to read and learn all of them before you do any editing, because there is far too much there to take in, but look at anything which seems ad though it may be helpful now and of course you can come back and read more in the future, when other things become relevant.
- Finally, I will emphasise again what I said before about starting with small things. I can understand if you don't feel like doing that, and want to jump straight into writing great articles, but your chances of eventually writing great articles will be better, not worse, if you take things slowly. How to write a great article Please help me with... An idea of writing great article Takudzwa Chaita (talk) 21:26, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
- You may want to take a look at WP:Your first article. The first task is finding a suitable topic for an article. A good topic is one that has been covered in some detail by multiple reliable sources - newspaper articles, reports in reputable magazines, peer-reviewed scholarly papers, textbooks published with an academic publisher and so on. When you have found such sources, you can write an article by summarizing (in your own words, to avoid copyright problems) what those sources report, and you can cite the sources so our readers can independently verify that the summary is accurate. I'd also advise you to make use of the Article Wizard to create a draft that is reviewed by an experienced editor instead of directly creating a live article. Huon (talk) 21:40, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

- While the notion of creating a new article is seductive, I would suggest that you cut your teeth by improving existing articles.TheLongTone (talk) 17:53, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

How to write a perfect article Please help me with... Ideas to write perfect article Tacman 21:04, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Tacman
- I assume you're talking about the decline of Draft:Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll already exists, so that page should be edited instead.
- If you are just talking in general about writing articles, I suggest you read through WP:YFA, which gives good advice for writing articles. I also suggest trying out The Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive way to learn how to edit. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. - When you previously asked for help, I and another editor gave you advice. One of the pieces of advice that I gave you was to work your way up to creating articles gradually, starting by making small changes to existing articles. What you have done since I offered that advice has made it clear that you really have to follow that advice. I really really cannot emphasise that too much: you are not ready yet to create articles. However, since you keep asking, i will give you a few pointers on some of the kinds of problems which you will need to learn to avoid if you are eventually going to create an article.
- Did it not occur to you to check first whether Wikipedia already had an article on chlorophyll before starting writing one? You should always do that before starting an article, especially in the case of such a well known and important concept as chlorophyll, because it would really be remarkable if Wikipedia didn't already have an article about it.
- I suggest looking at a few existing articles. Some of them, unfortunately, are very badly written, so don't assume that everything you see is a good example of how to write an article, but you will see that articles are not normally just dictionary definitions, such as a one sentence statement of what "chlorophyll" means.
- Although I used the expression "one sentence", what you wrote was not a sentence: "Is a group of green pigment..." What is a group of green pigment? There is no subject in the "sentence". You need to make sure that you are writing coherent English if you are to create an article.
- What did you mean by adding an empty section headed "Birth rates"? I cannot conceive of any reason why anyone would think that would be appropriate in an article on chlorophyll. It is difficult to avoid the impression that the page was not really an attempt to write an article at all, but rather a test page or something of the sort.
- Those are a few of the problems that you need to learn to avoid when writing an article. The best way to learn is, as I have already said, to get experience by contributing to existing articles.
- Posting a request for help is much more likely to get useful results if you have a specific question to ask about some particular detail of your editing, rather than asking such broad and general questions as "how do I create a good article". The only help anyone can give to a general question like that is general advice such as you have received in answer to your requests.
