Wikipedia and copyright

Hello Taborhistorian! Your additions to Tabor City, North Carolina have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. Tabor City, North Carolina

Your recent edits to the page for Tabor city seem to contain excess details about particular parts of the city history. Specifically, a massive block quote about General Sherman, the design of a warehouse, and lists of individual businesses. I hope that I have finally corrected the problems with my edits. At first I did not see the notes left by others nor the notes at the top of entry pertaining to my edits.

The Tabor City Lumber info was in the original entry prior to my edit. I had copy/pasted it when I was adding my edit to other parts of that section. The original entry had several items with the same type of copyrighted material. I hope that my edits now are sufficiently corrected to abide by the rules. As these are the first times that I have edited wikipedia entries, the learning curve is steep and I am getting the hang of it. Thanks

Sanborn Maps

It looks like some of the lists of businesses are only backed by a reference to a map. Do you know the name for the specific map? Despite having access to ProQuest, I can't find it, and it doesn't appear the numbering in the URL is shared by any other website that hosts the maps. If an image of a map with business names in the only source for those lists, then unfortunately the whole list will have to be removed. Thanks, SpinningCeres 00:50, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

These are Sanborn fire insurance maps for the town of Tabor, NC, from 1925 and from 1934. I reduced the info on both of these entries to include the bare minimum of a description. Not sure if this URL will work better. Trying to help build a better entry for my hometown on wiki. Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. Upon further review I've blocked your account indefinitely due to blatant and prolonged violations of WP:BLP that equate to a targetted attack on Brenden Jones. Your edits were egregious enough, including the addition of detailed information on the subject's children in an effort to pillory Jones, that I revision deleted the majority of them.
