Perhaps a returning problem
[edit]I have just received an annonymous demand for information about an article regarding Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black and I have left a reply on my Talk page that I will be happy to respond, if I know who or what I am responding to. I also left an entry on the User's IP Talk page and this led me to look closer, and that is when I discovered that IP 128.143.218.12 is User:4640orFight about whom you had written Because you have given us so much trouble, I am blocking you permanently. If you have a problem with this, please take it up on the Wikipedia mailing list. - Ta bu shi da yu 04:41, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC). Someone else had added: "sockpuppet of Noah Peters". As IP 128.143.218.12 the User has made several recent edits to pages about various judges. Just to give you a heads-up in case this person is a returning trouble-maker. Bye bye jerk!!
[edit]I guess this means you will not be crying about the Nazis anymore. What is your problem with Nazis anyway? Did you date a Nazi woman and she broke your heart?? What a shame!!!
- Broke my heart? That's not all she broke! *shudder* Ta bu shi da yu 23:54, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Your life isn't worth living anymore so pleasee KILL YOURSELF!
You know I'm right. You've felt this way for a long time. You've probably been thinking about killing yourself for quite some time. I'm here to tell you, it's all right. Go ahead. Do it. It won't hurt. Be brave. All your troubles will be over. You won't have the pain anymore. Everyone else? Don't worry, they'll get by. You never really did fit in in Australia or anywhere else for that matter. Do what must be done.
- So, this is coming from the Melbourne StormFront chapter. See [1]. - Ta bu shi da yu 23:56, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
What do you mean It's not your fault things turned out badly? It certainly IS your fault. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for what you've done in your failed life - and failed to do. Maybe things could have changed if you weren't such a weakling and hate-filled person. You're defective. You've been that way for a long time. You are proof that God makes mistakes.
You disgust me. You should have died a long time ago. You know I'm right.

- Ummm? I don't care! Firstly, that's an old copy, no longer really endorsed by Wikipedia. If CheeseDreams wanted (after their ban), they could always edit History of Christianity/Jesus, pre-4th century Christianity, and syncretism and merge it into that article, as was suggested on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Jesus, pre-4th century Christianity, and syncretism. - Ta bu shi da yu 23:16, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

expos/nationals debate
[edit]There is a major debate going on, and I wondered if you might want to chime in. The debate involves how to deal with franchise moves in baseball. The question is whether Montréal Expos should be its own article or if it should redirect to Washington Nationals. All other instances of franchise moves in MLB redirect the old team name to the new team name, and the history of the franchise is covered within the new team name (for MLB, NBA and NFL examples, see here. Some people are confused and think the Expos and the Nats are different teams. Some people don't want to upset Canadian readers.
Indeed, the Washington Nationals are not a new team - the Montreal Expos franchise has moved to Washington, and the old franchise name should redirect to the new franchise name, just like the 20+ instances of this occuring in Wikipedia. For example, Brooklyn Dodger history resides in the Los Angeles Dodgers article. New York Giants history, including the Shot Heard 'Round the World, resides in the San Francisco Giants article.
If you have the time, maybe you could chime in on the conversation there, Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Montréal Expos. Kingturtle 23:16, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Not sure if you're interested, but I've noted what WDM drivers are on the talk page. Haven't looked at the main article, but if you want to merge, go ahead. However, you'll need to reference the following:

[edit]Ta bu, I for one can easily see how a thing like that could happen. Don't let it get you down, you are indeed most welcome back!--Bishonen | talk 03:51, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
- I know you're not feeling too happy right now, and that several people changed their votes. But many more didn't, and though I can't speak for them I wouldn't have changed my vote even had you not withdrawn your nomination. You still have a lot of fans out there, Little Fish. Yes, those edits weren't a great idea, but everyone makes edits or comments they later regret. And the beauty of a wiki is that these things can be easily fixed. As User:Mark said on your RFA, I'd rather have an administrator who did the occasional harmless prank than one who abused administrative powers to force bias on articles or blocked users inappropriately. The community pointed out your mistake and I'm sure you won't do it again. I respect your decision to withdraw your nomination, but I hope you will consider renomination in one month—if no one else nominates you by then, I would be honored to. And if you do decided to keep your nomination up, you still have my support. — Knowledge Seeker দ 04:09, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
- Hear, hear. Let's not let a little bump derail the train. TBSDY does lots of good work here, and people shouldn't forget that. I won't, anyway. I'll also support a VfA after another little while, when the time is right. Fire Star 04:21, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
- As one of those who changed their vote, I can assure you that I didn't mean for you to withdraw your nomination, nor did I think the nomination would fail (I moved from support to neutral). It was a message to you, and one you obviously got loud and clear. I'd probably have moved my vote back to weak support after your apology. I'll support you if you renominate in a month.-gadfium 05:35, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
- Agree with Knowledge Seeker. The Dalek edit was a joke gone wrong, but I still would support you for adminship. Everybody makes mistakes sometimes. Now you should a) not do it again, and b) otherwise forget about it and cheer up. You're still a great user (admin?)-- Chris 73 Talk 05:42, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
Your nomination
[edit]I have removed the link to your nomination subpage from the RFA. I felt that your wishes were made clear when you withdrew your candidacy, and when you requested no further votes be made. In a month or so, I would be honoured to renominate you (but I'm sure there will be many people jockeying for that privilege). Cheers, and may the force be with you. :) →Iñgōlemo← talk 05:15, 2005 May 24 (UTC)
- I'm fairly certain that I do. Anyway, if it was required but I didn't add it, it'd be a lot harder to rectify, because someone would have to notise that it hadn't been added. →Iñgōlemo← talk 05:33, 2005 May 24 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]Don't let it get you down. Just continue your generally excellent work, and it will all blow over. RickK 05:48, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
- I feel like I have to say something more about your situation because I find it a little similar to what happened to me about a month ago (This happened when you were still on your wikivacation). If you look at this page, it seems that it only takes one simple idea or mistake, and people will suddenly criticise you -- just because of that one simple mistake. For me, it was all because I was a little to eager to put articles on VFD. Luckily, it is just only one thing and it can be corrected. Anyway, don't let it get you down. Just be patient, keep on working on articles like Windows 2000 and other janitorial tasks, and you may find yourself on RFA again. Best wishes. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 06:09, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
I second Rick. Absolutely ridiculous, man. People around here can't take jokes. I've done a smiliar thing before and it still comes back to haunt me on occasion. Your quality as an editor (one of the few, the fine) is still unquestionable. I cannot agree with users who consider this nothing but a harmless joke (it was the main page article, after all), but I, as well as everyone around is fully counscious that this is one mistake in an otherwise absolutely brilliant record. Keep up with the good work. Phils 09:14, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
To my mind your prompt apology and withdrawl carry greater long term weight than the initial misjudgement. --Theo (Talk) 12:45, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
I realize from your post on WP:AN/I that you were demonstrating the quick-response nature of Wikipedia to a friend. While I don't support the method you used, I still admire that you admitted your mistake and rescinded your nomination so that you could apply later under better circumstances. As when you stepped down from adminship, I think you did the right thing in this case as well, and I think that despite these two instances of bad judgement, your behavior overall has been in line with what Admins should exemplify. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 14:38, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
- Another way to demonstrate this, if you want to show a friend later, is to use the Heavy Metal Umlaut video. See http://weblog.infoworld.com/udell/gems/umlaut.html . Hope you are doing well, by the way. Email me sometime. Pravoka 00:53, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
By being upfront about what you did at Daleks and then withdrawing your nomination I think you did the right thing. I looked at some of your recent contribs (Microsoft) and you are obviously an excellent editor, and assuming there is no repeat (as I am sure there won't be) I would not hesitate to vote for you if you renominate in 3 months. I grew up with the Daleks (Dr Who was easily my favourite programme as a kid) so I can see the humour, but some of the vandalisms we meet are funny and it doesn't make them less vandalism. I can well imagine how terrible you felt last night, but hope it doesn't keep you down for long, or put you of working here/wanting to be an admin again, SqueakBox 19:04, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
I agree. It would have been so much easier to say that someone else hijacked your home computer and made those joke edits, but you didn't, and came right out and admitted your mistake. I don't vote for (or against) adminship very often, but I'll gladly vote for you again when it comes up. --Deathphoenix 20:05, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

In all honesty, I was (*yawn*) about to go to bed. From a quick look, I see the same jargon (because its a copy), so whatever your fix is can be applied to both I presume. I was going to give the PR a closer look tomorrow, and now I'll do so for both. PS, could I suggest Port Jackson for your next focus article? I have always been amazed by the pics I've seen, and am a quite clueless American on the topic. When I looked it up I was a little dismayed by the sort of stubbish article. - Definitely interested. I'm never sure how much time I'll have, and I have a habit of... oo shiney thing... getting distracted, but it really kinda bugs me right now how little depth most of the Microsoft related articles have. And aside from the usual battles over at "Internet Explorer" no other pages really get that much attention. Anyway some co-ordination, assuming that is what you mean, would probably be a good idea.
