Speedy deletion nomination of Mark r boardman
[edit]A tag has been placed on Mark r boardman, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Amsaim (talk) 18:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Mark Boardman
[edit]A previous version of this article was deleted only ten days ago after a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Boardman. I deleted yours because it was a repost of material we had just decided to delete, and in my view the extra sources you added did not show the significant independent comment required for notability. Calling him a celebrity journalist doesn't make him one, and the locatetv and saidwhat references are trivial. Wikipedia's notability requirements are explained at WP:Notability, WP:Notability (people) and WP:ENTERTAINER.
However you could argue that the metro.co.uk interview adds something significant, so I have restored your article into the Article Incubator, a place where articles can be worked on which are not ready for the encyclopedia proper. It is at Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Mark Boardman.
What you should do now is approach user Arbitrarily0 (talk · contribs), the administrator who closed the deletion discussion on the first article, and see if you can persuade him that your version is improved enough to overcome the arguments that caused it to be deleted. If not, you can take it to WP:Deletion review. Let me know if you need any help with that.
It helps keep track of who said what in these talk-page conversations if you log in before editing, and sign your posts by ending them with four "tilde" characters ~~~~, which the system will turn into a signature with your username and the time and date - like this: JohnCD (talk) 22:26, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- In fact, now that I re-read the metro.co.uk interview, I see that I was mistaken: it is with Dave Berry, not with Boardman, and in fact Boardman is not mentioned at all in the interview, only in one of the fan comments at the bottom. So it does not add anything useful; what is needed to establish notability is "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". If you can find any, you can still work on the Incubator version of the article, and approach user Arbitrarily0 (talk · contribs) if you think you have improved it significantly.
