Help me

[edit]

i'm trying to include that the santa monica location will in fact be closing it's doors on April 2o, 2014 on the Original Tommy's page. I work for the company and we have made the announcement only on our social media. There likely won't be an article published in the Santa Monica newspaper until after the closing. --Swiftymcqueen (talk) 00:17, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what to do about stuff like that. Usually we wait till things happen and get reported in the newspaper. Won't it get in the LA Weekly or that Santa Monica advertiser or something soon and then there won't be a problem adding it?— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:22, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tommy's

[edit]

You should ask for help on the talk page about how to accomplish whatever it is you're trying to do. Putting inline citations at the top of the page without attaching them to a sentence isn't good, and there's really nothing that links to facebook and twitter are going to support anyway.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:03, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

i'm trying to figure it out. please be patient. i work for tommy's and am trying to add the correct citations for the information provided. --Swiftymcqueen (talk) 00:12, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if it's not in the newspaper, it's not so easy to put it in. You can also ask for advice specifically about editing for your employer at WP:COIN. I'll miss that one at Lincoln and Pico, by the way. But as long as there are some left...— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:24, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help! And yes we are sad to see it close and be replaced by yet another Starbucks. The whole center is being torn down and re-done. The city hasn't published anything yet, just trying to be proactive as complaints from our fans think we made the choice to close it when it was the landlord who ousted us. --Swiftymcqueen (talk) 00:28, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you send a press release to the Weekly won't they put it on their website right away? That would totally be enough to get it in. Oh, hell, your facebook page is clearly official. Let's give it a try, and if someone doesn't like it we'll figure out what to do.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:32, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, can one edit facebook posts? You totally have an extra apostrophe in there.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:32, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
How's that? By the way again, I always heard that the founder bought the land under his restaurants; I guess that wasn't true, or maybe just not for later locations?— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:39, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

sadly you can only edit some facebook posts. it's truly annoying when we get an error in there and can't fix it once it's commented on. no that is a rumor about him buying the land underneath the locations. and i will advise them to send a press release. great idea! thanks again! --Swiftymcqueen (talk) 00:44, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, even if no one argues with the cite to facebook, it'll still be better to replace it with a cite to a real newspaper as soon as possible. If it gets in a paper and you need help formatting the citation or whatever, let me know. Meanwhile, keep up the good work!— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:47, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
