A tag has been placed on your user page, User:SupermanSpace/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on User:SupermanSpace/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself, at User:SupermanSpace/sandbox. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. With the exception of the official accounts of existing reliable sources (e.g. major news organizations), all social media sources are invalid and therefore cannot establish someone as being notable enough for inclusion. Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Thank you for your message, Jimfbleak. I appreciate your concern about the Wikipedia policy on promotional material. However, I believe that I did not violate any guidelines on Wikipedia. I was not adding any subjective prose or biased opinions about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services. I was only providing factual and verifiable information that is relevant and useful for the Wikipedia article. I did not intend to use Wikipedia as a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. I hope you can understand my point of view and reconsider your decision to remove my edits. Thank you for your time and attention. 27.255.221.79 (talk) 15:14, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Yes, you were promoting (see WP:YESPROMO). What's more, you were promoting yourself (see WP:AUTOBIO). Wikipedia is not the place for either, as this is an encyclopaedia and not a social media etc. platform. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:03, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia only considers topics that have already received significant coverage from a variety of reliable and independent sources to be worthy of inclusion. Lack of the required quantity and quality of coverage means the topic isn't sufficiently notable to be included. We have notability standards for people and additional requirements for living persons that also must be met.
A reliable source is a source that has an established reputation for fact-checking and editorial oversight. This heavily favours mainstream news organizations, academic press, and reputable publishers of newspapers, books and magazines. Works from these sources undergo a process of editorial review before publication; the authors submit their work to one or more editors, whose job it is to check their facts and ensure content is objective before it is published.
An independent source is a source with no personal, political or financial interest in the topic it covers. Therefore it is presumed that the source can be trusted to have a truly objective point of view, as it has nothing to gain.
On the flip side, social media is self-published - the users post their own content with nobody reviewing it beforehand. For that reason, we cannot trust that it is accurate, nor unbiased, so it is considered unreliable. And if it's the social media of the person or group being discussed, it is not independent. Therefore, writing about yourself and citing your own social media fails on both fronts.
I'll tell you what I've told many others - stop wanting to have a Wikipedia article about yourself. It is not a badge of honour to have one; in fact, there are many reasons you should not desire one. Even if one day you become notable enough to merit an article, you will never have any ownership or control over its contents. Any information about your life covered by reliable sources - good or bad - would be fair game. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:40, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello DoubleGrazing and Drm310,
Thank you for your comments and concerns. I want to address both of your points in this response.
Firstly, I apologize for any confusion caused by my username, SupermanSpace. I understand that it might imply a connection to the real SupermanSpace, but it is simply a chosen username for my Wikipedia contributions. I assure you that it does not mean I am claiming to be SupermanSpace or any other individual.
I appreciate your understanding that Wikipedia is a platform where people contribute to provide valuable content for readers. I share your enthusiasm for creating a library of articles for game developers and Unity developers. I believe that those who contribute to their respective communities deserve recognition on Wikipedia.
Regarding the sourcing and notability standards of Wikipedia, I understand the importance of relying on reliable and independent sources. While social media platforms may not meet these criteria due to self-publication and lack of editorial oversight, I will ensure that the information I gather from sources like YouTube, GitHub, Twitter, CodePen, and Patreon is accurate and objective.
Furthermore, I want to clarify that my intention is not self-promotion or the promotion of any service. My primary goal is to contribute to the community and support the development of a strong network of game developers. I aim to provide biographies and information about individuals like Brackeys, Dani, Dilmer, awesometuts, SupermanSpace, coding monkey, Kyle Rhoads, ValemVR, GMTK, and others who have made significant contributions to the field.
Finally, I want to assure you that I have no personal obsession with writing an article about myself. If I ever desire an article for myself, I would consider using paid services rather than publishing it on Wikipedia.
Thank you for raising these points, and I appreciate your guidance and insights. I am committed to adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines and contributing positively to the community.
I kindly request that you take the time to read the complete article before providing me with feedback.
Thank you. SupermanSpace (talk) 12:34, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I don't think you've taken onboard any of the comments, really, so at this point I will bow out. Just one more piece of advice: when you're writing about a real person who goes by the moniker SupermanSpace, and if, as you say, you are not yourself SupermanSpace, then you should change your username, because this is at the very least misleading, and could be construed as impersonation. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:47, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize, but I believe Wikipedia has some restrictions on changing the name. 180.214.141.78 (talk) 13:39, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
