2016 Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Search Community Survey

The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has appointed a committee to lead the search for the foundation’s next Executive Director. One of our first tasks is to write the job description of the executive director position, and we are asking for input from the Wikimedia community. Please take a few minutes and complete this survey to help us better understand community and staff expectations for the Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director.

Thank you, The Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Search Steering Committee via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:49, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

Name of Solomon Islands

Hi Sundostund. I rolled back the reintroduction of 'the' in the country name Solomon Islands. Your edit is perfectly understandable but the country name is Solomon Islands, the geographic area of the Solomon Islands (archipelago) is referred to as the Solomon Islands and includes islands under different countries. The colonial name for the area plus Bougainville and some other bits and pieces under the British was The Solomon Islands referring to the geographical area and the colonial administration name of convenience. The official English language UN country name and the name used in the constitution is 'Solomon Islands' with the definite article and Elizabeth II is Queen of Solomon Islands not the Solomon Islands. The article Governor General of the Solomon Islands and PM of the Solomon Islands used to be name without the 'the' but has crept back unfortunately. Most of the articles associated with the Solomon Islands and the Solomon Islands archipelago reflect this difference. Reintroducing the article causes a deal of confusion as to what area is being referred to. Check out the name usage throughout all the articles associated with the country and the archipelago. It is confusing, please help us to remove that confusion. Ex nihil (talk) 01:42, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

I have nominated List of Presidents of Venezuela for featured list removal here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured list criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks; editors may declare to "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Somali Armed Forces, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Marka and Darood. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Revert of my edit on Paramount Leader

I notice you reverted this edit without giving any rationale in the edit summary. The relevant passage in the manual of style (MOS:DOB) prefers use of "born" rather than leaving an open hyphen when a person is still living. I will be editing to to read 'born' in exact conformity with MOS. Please do not revert again without a rationale. William Avery (talk) 08:43, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

@William Avery: I am sorry, it was my mistake. Of course, we must abide to the MOS rules... By the way, in your original edit, you put "(b. 1925)" instead of "(1925–)". I think it looks better (and more according to MOS) if we use "(born 1925)", and I am glad to see that you recognized that by yourself in your current edit. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 14:06, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Contests

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:37, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

List of Prime Ministers of Iran

Hi, I want to inform you recently, I edited the List of Prime Ministers of Iran and corrected its mistakes. I hope you find it useful. Best regards. Shfarshid (talk) 02:15, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

List of Presidents of Tunisia

Hello,

I please ask you not to delete my work without explaining why. You did it twice and finally explained it the third time. Now, if the article does not please you, we can talk about that and not just get rid of the work of others. I agree that the list of Presidents by age needs its own article. But what about the new list which is more detailed, the rank by time in office, the lifspan, the new timeline and living former presidents? I please ask you to collaborate and not censor my work. Thanks --ELEL09 (talk) 23:30, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

I am trying to make my version clearer. I invite you to help me do so. As for the List of Presidents of Tunisia by age, I am currently working on it. --ELEL09 (talk) 23:42, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
I am glad we found an agreement. I also think the list of presidents from version looks better, since it specifies the terms of each president. I shall be working on the layout to make it clearer. Happy to work with you. --ELEL09 (talk) 23:59, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Former Commonwealth Realms heads of state

Hi how are you?

I have this plan that all former Commonwealth realms should have this template:

President
(Birth–Death)
Portrait Tenure Elected Political affiliation
(at time of appointment)
Prime Minister(s)
Took office Left office
Ceremonial President
1 William Gopallawa
(1897–1981)
File:William Gopallawa.jpg 22 May 1972 4 February 1978 Independent [[]]

What do you think? Mr Hall of England (talk) 18:33, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: Hi. I am fine, thank you. I hope you are fine as well... Firstly, sorry for my late reply to your post. Secondly, I like the template and, as you can see, I implemented it myself on several articles (for instance, at President and heads of government of Zanzibar). Also, I have plans to implement it on some other articles as well. Keep up your good work! Cheers. --Sundostund (talk) 17:47, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
@Sundostund: Thanks for liking, I have to do a few more but it will take time. For the Current Realms do you think the Chief Justice is the Officer Administrating of the Government? Whould like some help. Mr Hall of England (talk) 17:53, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
@Mr Hall of England: Yes, by all logic the Chief Justice should be the Officer Administrating of the Government, if the post of Governor-General is vacant. --Sundostund (talk) 17:16, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
@Sundostund: The Solomon Islands and PNG I think it is the Speaker. I might be wrong. Mr Hall of England (talk) 09:58, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
@Mr Hall of England: You might be right as well. I can't be sure about every Current Realm (I suppose constitutional requirements aren't the same in every single country), but I'm quite sure that the Chief Justice serves as acting Governor-General in most cases... By the way, I think we may remove (at time of appointment) from the template. I don't really see it as something necessary; if an officeholder changed party affiliation during his/her term, it can be showed in the list itself (by adding a date of switching parties, or by some other way). What do you think about it? --Sundostund (talk) 14:32, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
@Sundostund: There are time I doubt some former Realms but I think of something else but I think I will give a go with a few more but if you want to edit a few things with me I would be grateful. Mr Hall of England (talk) 15:20, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
@Mr Hall of England: Of course, once you put the template in an article, I'd be happy to help with my corrections, etc (if its needed - in my opinion, you are doing your work quite nice)... I know you have a lot of work ahead of you regarding lists of heads of states, implementing the template, etc and I didn't want to distract your attention too much about (at time of appointment) issue. Its not of paramount importance to me, but I still think the template would look better if we remove it. --Sundostund (talk) 15:30, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
@Sundostund: Thanks I will start next week Ghana.Mr Hall of England (talk) 15:36, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

@Sundostund: I have made a list of the current realms:

  • Chief Justice: The Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Jamaica and New Zealand.
  • Speaker: Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
  • Administrator: Australia.
  • Unspecified: Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Former Realms will be done at a later date, if you do find out the unspecified ones I would be grateful.

Mr Hall of England (talk) 20:16, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: As you can see, so far I have created List of heads of state of Grenada, when it comes to heads of state of Current Realms. I have no doubt that every Current Realm should have such a list (if somebody didn't create it already), and it will be done in some foreseeable future, but I don't have enough time to start working on that at this moment. Beside, like yourself, I'm far more interested in Former Realms than the Current ones. And, just to know - I look at User talk:Mr Hall of England/Archive 88 from time to time, just to see how your work is going on. --Sundostund (talk) 20:58, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
@Sundostund: I am having doubts on the former realms, could you contact the 16 realms from there Parliaments just to help me. I would be grateful. Mr Hall of England (talk) 23:03, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
@Mr Hall of England: I am afraid that I don't really understand what you want me to do. Please be more precise. --Sundostund (talk) 23:07, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
@Sundostund: I found this is this helps http://pdba.georgetown.edu could you help me by double checking the American realms please, to see where I was wrong. Mr Hall of England (talk) 20:22, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
@Mr Hall of England: I really see no need to double check you, I have trust in your work; I'm sure you haven't made mistakes anyway (and even if you did, they are probably minimal ones). By the way, as you can see - for the last few days I was busy with implementing your template on lists of officeholders of several sub-Saharan countries, which are either Current or Former Kingdoms. Those countries are Rwanda, Burundi, Swaziland and Lesotho. I'm thinking where to implement it next... And, regarding Former Realms - please tell me when you plan to start working on heads of state of Fiji, Uganda and Sierra Leone, as I'm quite interested in those countries. --Sundostund (talk) 21:48, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

@Sundostund: Hi I have made a start of Ghana but I am struggling to do what to put for the First Republic regarding Acting President and term limits, then the Second Republic the same.Mr Hall of England (talk) 16:03, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi I would like to update but it is difficult because of the template. So now, Khalifa al-Ghawil became disputed prime minister, too Abdullah al-Thani. So it is important to add a box for these two. For example, for List of heads of state of Libya, there are two box for Nouri Abusahmain. Regards. --Panam2014 (talk) 20:27, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

You have forget Al Thai who is in rebellion since 5 april 2016. --Panam2014 (talk) 08:27, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: No, I haven't forgot him - al-Thani is already part of the list, which states that his term started on 11 March 2014, and that he was internationally recognized until 12 March 2016. Thereby, he is in rebellion in Tobruk since early 2016. --Sundostund (talk) 13:40, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
"Following the 2014 legislative elections, the government was split between the newly-elected House of Representatives and the 2014 General National Congress, composed of remnants of the outgoing General National Congress, resulting in the 2014–16 Civil War." Could you add a box before Sarraj in List of heads of state and heads of government of Libya because he is still disputed ? --Panam2014 (talk) 16:06, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: Please be more precise - what kind of box you want to be added before Sarraj? --Sundostund (talk) 16:09, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
A line who we can say that Tobrouk and Tripoli disputed the office against him. --Panam2014 (talk) 16:12, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: Tell me how you want it to be worded (precise text), and I'll see to implement it in the lists. --Sundostund (talk) 16:14, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
"After the inauguration of Presidential Council and Government of National Accord, the executives power remind disputed by HOR and GNC authorities". --Panam2014 (talk) 16:18, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: Thank you. But, I'm thinking now - is a new line really necessary? I think that data in the lists already shows what you want to present in a new line. It looks clear enough to me. --Sundostund (talk) 16:26, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
Create a new line is important because the situation has changed after the inauguration of GNA. --Panam2014 (talk) 17:07, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
Abduljalil and Jibril have been based in Tripoli from 23 august 2011. --Panam2014 (talk) 18:17, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:04, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Official office name

Hi For Algerie, the office of Prime minister have been called as President of the Council of ministers between 1962 and 1963, Prime minister between 1979 and 1988, Head of government between 1988 and 2008 and Prime minister since 2008. Could you edit the pages ? Regards. --Panam2014 (talk) 17:35, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

@Pannam2014: Yes, I will fix it in the same way as I did at List of heads of state of Algeria, by adding "Position" in the box with name and year of birth and death. I will do it when I find free time. --Sundostund (talk) 17:40, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
Also, the Head of the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic was also head of state between 1958 and 1962. Could you add it ? --Panam2014 (talk) 17:54, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: Yes, I will do it (again, when I find time). --Sundostund (talk) 18:04, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: I did it. If you notice something incorrect, feel free to correct it. --Sundostund (talk) 22:46, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
Thank. Also, the official name of the state was Algerian republic between 1958 and 1962, Algerian State between july and september 1962 and People's Democratic Republic of Algeria since september 1962. And for Head of Government of Tunisia, there are a problem with the the head of state at the top. --Panam2014 (talk) 11:36, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: I don't think that we need to include strictly official names of Algeria to the lists - simple "Algeria" in enough in my opinion. As for Tunisia, be precise about the problem, because I don't see anything wrong there. --Sundostund (talk) 15:03, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
There is no specified head of state for the first 16 counts of the Tunisian government (1800 to 1943). They are specified in the French version of Wikipedia. --Panam2014 (talk) 21:18, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi Aoun was disputed ruler (president and prime minister) as military rule, between 1988 and 1990 but he was not recognized. Could you rewrite the page ? Regards. --Panam2014 (talk) 12:47, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Yemen

Hi You have forgetten the Prime Minister of Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen and Abdullah Mohsen al-Akwa. Could you add it ? --Panam2014 (talk) 20:58, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

@Pannam2014: Your work at Prime Minister of Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen isn't consistent with the given source (Worldstatesmen.org). According to the source, Prime Ministers of the Kingdom were as follow:
  • 17 Feb 1948 - 18 Feb 1948 Ibrahim bin Yahya Hamid al-Din (b. 1915 - d. 1948) Non-party
  • Feb 1948 - Apr 1948 Ali ibn Abdullah al-Wazir (s.a.) Non-party
  • Apr 1948 - 18 Jun 1955 Prince Hassan ibn Yahya (b. 1908 - d. 2003) Non-party
  • 18 Jun 1955 - 28 Sep 1962 Vacant
Prime Ministers of the Kingdom in exile (post-1962) were:
  • 5 Oct 1962 - 17 Oct 1962 Ahmad al-Sayari Non-party
  • Oct 1962 - 11 Apr 1967 Prince Hassan ibn Yahya (2nd time) (s.a.) Non-party
  • Apr 1967 - 15 Jan 1969 Prince Abdur Rahman ibn Yahya (b. 1937) Non-party
  • 15 Jan 1969 - Mar 1970 Prince Hassan ibn Yahya (3rd time) (s.a.) Non-party
Please, correct it before I include them in List of heads of government of Yemen... Afterwards, we can also include royalist Prime Ministers of the government in exile (1962–1970) in the same section, but still split from the pre-1962 Prime Ministers (to underline the fact that, during the Civil War, post-1962 royalist Prime Ministers haven't had real control over most of the country, Sana'a, etc). --Sundostund (talk) 23:28, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Thank you. Could you edit the page. --Panam2014 (talk) 09:23, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
Could you add Muhammad al-Badr as exilled king as Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi is still president ? --Panam2014 (talk) 09:26, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: Yes, I will edit both pages (lists of heads of state and heads of government of Yemen) sometime later today. And, thank you for correcting your work, as I asked you to do. --Sundostund (talk) 15:15, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
There are a small problem. For rulers of southern Yemen, the offices and dials holders are specific to each title, it would be possible to do the same? --Panam2014 (talk) 11:00, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: Try to be more precise, please. I didn't really understand what the problem is. And, are you talking about the List of heads of state of Yemen, or some other article? --Sundostund (talk) 15:19, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
I see that you changed it by yourself... In my opinion, we shouldn't number the heads of state by their title, but by their place among the heads of state (simply from the first to the last)... I will change it. --Sundostund (talk) 15:25, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
In this case, it is necessary to harmonize between those of the north and the south. --Panam2014 (talk) 15:31, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
And for Saleh between 1990 and 1994 as Head of the presidential council ? --Panam2014 (talk) 15:37, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: It look harmonized to me now... Yes, I will change Saleh, as well as Sallal as Chairman of the RCC in 1962. --Sundostund (talk) 15:39, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
There are a problem. Abdul Fattah Ismail was Presidium of the Supreme People's Council from 1970, before 1980. Have you got a solution ? --Panam2014 (talk) 09:36, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: In this case, that is not important. This list only deals with heads of state, and Abdul Fattah Ismail served as head of state of South Yemen from 1978 (when the post of Chairman of Presidium of the Supreme People's Council became the nominal head of state), not since 1970 (when the Supreme People's Council was established). Therefore, we don't need to change anything, everything is correct. --Sundostund (talk) 15:30, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Military Rule

What would you put for Fiji, Pakistan, Sierra Leone and Uganda after Military Rule, Second, Third or Fourth Republic or Republic restored? Including templates Mr Hall of England (talk) 17:03, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: I would put Second, Third or Fourth Republic. "Republic restored" doesn't have much sense to me... I would do the same with templates. --Sundostund (talk) 17:06, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
@Sundostund: But were they call that though? You need to ask someone. Mr Hall of England (talk) 17:42, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
@Mr Hall of England: Yes, but I still think we can use that model in the lists, at least until we find some better option. --Sundostund (talk) 18:05, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi Could you add the acting prime ministers of Ukraine ? Regards. --Panam2014 (talk) 18:24, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

@Pannam2014: No - I have other things to do now, and to work on Yemen-related lists later today. Beside, generally I have no interest in working on Ukraine-related articles in near future. --Sundostund (talk) 18:51, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi Could you help me to color fully the acting prime ministers ? --Panam2014 (talk) 16:27, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Also in "List of Presidents of Turkey". --Panam2014 (talk) 16:32, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi Sundostund, how about adding your two articles about Turkish army commanders to the list in Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey).Cheers Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 19:18, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

@Nedim Ardoğa: Hi. Just a correction - there are three articles which I created (commanders of the Second Army, the Third Army and the Aegean Army). I added them at Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey)#Article achievements 1-1000. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 20:01, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

Libya

Hi A fourth parallel government has been created. Should we add it ? --Panam2014 (talk) 22:01, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

@Pannam2014: Hi. Please, share some details with me about that government - who leads it, when it has been created, etc (I didn't really follow Libyan affairs lately). Then we'll see whether to include it or not. --Sundostund (talk) 00:05, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
[1] and [2]. --Panam2014 (talk) 10:07, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
@Pannam2014: Well, maybe we can wait for a few days, to see whether this new "government" will manage to establish itself in a permanent way... Just a remark - it was really better when Gaddafi ruled Libya, wasn't it? Among other things, they had just one government back then, not four like now. --Sundostund (talk) 16:09, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you removed some content from List of Tenochtitlan rulers without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Elizium23 (talk) 00:38, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

References

Thanks for your work but I am puzzled as to why there are no, or very few, references? Philafrenzy (talk) 17:31, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

@Philafrenzy: As you can see, most of these articles which you tagged contain the "External links" section, with a link to the World Statesmen.org website. It surely count as a source. --Sundostund (talk) 17:35, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
It's a source but not being used correctly and quite possibly not a reliable source either as it appears to be a homemade source by one individual. Please read the guidelines carefully to understand what is needed and look at other articles such as featured articles to see the depth of referencing required. I appreciate what you have created but you need to do a lot more than you have with these on that aspect. You have added a lot of facts but not shown that any of them are accurate. Philafrenzy (talk) 17:52, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
@Philafrenzy: It still is a source, whatever we may feel about it... As is known from the rules, I don't own anything here, including what I have created. So, anyone is free to remodel/correct/complete my work, if they think its necessary. --Sundostund (talk) 18:01, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
Not just any source is OK, it has to be a reliable source. I would urge you to go through and add at least one reliable source in the body of each article before someone nominates your work for deletion. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:08, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

Serbia

I what you did with the heads of state of Serbia, would you do the Yugoslavian one? Mr Hall of England (talk) 22:39, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

Plus I think that the Yugoslav Monarchy should have its own article.

@Mr Hall of England: Honestly, I'm satisfied with the current look of the heads of state of Yugoslavia, and I think we should keep it that way. As for the separate article about the Yugoslav Monarchy, I have no problem to agree with its creation - after all, we already have Monarchy of Greece as an example how it can be done. --Sundostund (talk) 23:07, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

Afghanistan

Hi Happy new year. According to the sources, the Islamic State of Afghanistan was in place until 2002, then he was replaced by the Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was proclamed in 1997 and it was never recognized. Mullah Omar was leader and Mohammed Rabbani head of supreme council and head of state. Could you edit the pages for prime ministers and presidents ? --Panam2014 (talk) 18:48, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Second Republic of Ghana

Hi what would you put form the Second Republic of Ghana?

Also what do I put for elections of the following:

  • Sri Lanka President 1972–1978
  • The Second Republic of Ghana
  • Guyana President 1970–present
  • Malta President 1974–present
  • South Africa President 1961–1984
  • Trinidad and Tobago President 1976–present

I would be grateful for the help.

Mr Hall of England (talk) 10:58, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: Hi. I would put the year of their election. We know the year (or years, if they served more than one mandate) when they are elected, so we should put it even if there is no article about that election. --Sundostund (talk) 14:19, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks it I am not sure what to put for the Second Republic of Ghana then I have finished Ghana.Mr Hall of England (talk) 17:46, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Queen of Fiji

Do you think there should be a Queen of Fiji article though? Most former Commonwealth realms have this except:

  • Monarchy of Ceylon
  • Queen of Fiji
  • Monarchy of India
  • Monarchy of the Irish Free State
  • Monarchy of Newfoundland?? But it is part of Canada
  • Monarchy of Pakistan
  • Queen Rhodesia?? Unrecognised State

Any Ideas? Would be grateful for the help but I don't know what to put for the Second Republic of Ghana?Mr Hall of England (talk) 21:44, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: There is already article Monarchy of Fiji. It should contain data which otherwise would be placed in the new article Queen of Fiji. As for other former Commonwealth realms which you listed here, I suppose they should have their own articles (although some were quite short-lived). As for the Second Republic of Ghana, I think you should just leave it as it is now (with a line in the section "Elected", until we think something better). --Sundostund (talk) 22:27, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Could you do them for me please because I don't want to get blocked for doing it. Mr Hall of England (talk) 16:21, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: I don't understand. Why would you get blocked for doing it by yourself? --Sundostund (talk) 18:35, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

I don't want to move the article, but it should be created and what I will do soon is get all the Queen ones with the same wordings and same everything. Mr Hall of England (talk) 23:37, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: I'm sorry, but I still don't see how any of that can get you blocked... If you want, move the article, I don't see any problem about doing that. Same apply to moving all the Queen articles. And, please tell me when you plan to implement your new Template to those former Commonwealth realm countries which don't use it as of now? --Sundostund (talk) 16:12, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

An article that you have been involved in editing—List of heads of state of Vietnam —has been proposed for merging with List of heads of government of Vietnam. If you are interested, please participate in the merger discussion. Thank you. Natg 19 (talk) 17:45, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Sorry, I just rescinded my proposal. I realized that heads of state is the president, while heads of government is the prime minister. Natg 19 (talk) 17:52, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Communist parties in Hungary

Hello! Why is it important to distuingish the Hungarian communist parties with different colours? It is the same party but with different names. It was established by Béla Kun in 1918 and existed until 1989, going through a number of changes (e.g. replacement of the name already during the Soviet Republic, reorganization in exile, adoption a name by merging SZDP, and reconstruction after the 1956 uprising). The use of single color also emphasizes that there was a one-party system from 1949 to 1989. --Norden1990 (talk) 19:56, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

There is no need to apologize, I appreciate your diligent work at numerous lists of national leaders. I agree that we should use party color templates to standardize colors in various articles. Of course, a different version of red color has to be to indicate the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP), which is the social-democrat successor of the ruling communist MSZMP. But KMP, MKP, "Peace Party", MDP and MSZMP etc. is the same party with different names. I think we should use only one color shade of red uniformly to represent these parties: I suggest the color of Hungarian Communist Party (#FF0000).
This version is much better than previous one, so I can accept this Rákosi image. Anyway this is the original clear version of that propaganda representation. --Norden1990 (talk) 22:02, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
Arrow Cross Party: as they were Nazis (they even wore Brown shirt), I suggested the colour of the Nazi Party (#964B00). Red colour can be confusing for foreign readers. --Norden1990 (talk) 23:26, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
If you don't mind, I changed the color of MSZDP to #BE1F2E because it differs more from the colors of the Communist Party and MSZP (as MSZDP still nominally exists, albeit performed very poorly in the last five or six parliamentary elections). --Norden1990 (talk) 16:14, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Yes, a separate article (President of Hungary) is advantageous and required, as in addition to presidents, there were regents, chairmen of presidency council etc. in post-WW1 Hungary. --Norden1990 (talk) 18:47, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Unfortunately I do not speak French and a Google Translate would be inappropriate here due to necessary to provide precise legal formulas and terms. Here is the official English text of the current 2011 Constitution. As the current position of President of Hungary was established in 1989, the text of the old 1949 Constitution, which heavily amended in 1989, is also useful. If you want to reorganize the complete list of heads of state of Hungary, please feel free to edit it. I think the current one is esthetically quite limited. --Norden1990 (talk) 19:18, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

OK, if I have more time, I will split the data refers to the current presidential office to a separate article. I am going to search other sources. --Norden1990 (talk) 19:18, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Commonwealth articles

Hi

Could you help me please by finding out elections for the Presidents of:

  • Sri Lanka 1972
  • Guyana
  • Malta
  • South Africa 1961-1984
  • Trinidad and Tobago

The Second Republic of Ghana needs to have some input about the rules like the other Republics.

I am not sure what to put.

I will do other Commonwealth realms too, when I am free.

Mr Hall of England (talk) 16:55, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: Hi, Mr Hall. Honestly speaking, I am not sure about it as well. All of those countries were (or still are) parliamentary republics, so their presidential elections were/are almost always indirect (conducted by parliament). As you know, English Wikipedia mostly contains data about direct (popular) elections, not much about indirect ones... Maybe you should look for data on websites of parliaments of those countries - since those institutions elected presidents, maybe they keep some kind of record about it on their website. --Sundostund (talk) 17:48, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

Abdel-Aziz bin Habtour

Hi Abdel-Aziz bin Habtour resigned. So, is his term ended ? --Panam2014 (talk) 23:14, 29 April 2017 (UTC)

@Panam2014: No. When an officeholder resign, his term normally last until a successor is appointed. I see no reason why it should be different in this case. --Sundostund (talk) 23:42, 29 April 2017 (UTC)

Chief of the General Staff (Russia)

Hey Sundostund

You said that the table that you didn't find the {Officeholder table} as an improvement, how come? I think that it is an improvement, since it: is specifically for officeholders, adds time spent in office, more aesthetic with notes and birth/death dates, and it is sort-able. I would appreciate, if you would reconsider the table.

Regards Skjoldbro (talk) 09:55, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

IJN Chief of Staff / Navy Minister

I noticed back in January you flipped some of the names from family name / given name to given name / family name. You probably did this to match the order on the linked wiki pages (i.e. Shigetaro Shimada instead of Shimada Shigetaro).

I don't personally care if the names are in any particular order, but the entire page should be consistent in one naming order.

Images in certain lists of heads of states

Several prime minister, president, emperor and other monarch lists have different images (other than the images used on the main articles) to display the person in charge, could you please leave it like this? there is nothing wrong with a little variety, in fact I do believe this is widely supported on Wikipedia, just like the use of different types of English (American and British English for example). 77.166.30.3 (talk) 08:44, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello Sundostund. Do you have an opinion about the recent IP edits of this article? One IP is globablly blocked but I can't figure out what they are trying to do, so I don't know what the abuse consists of. Thanks for any advice, EdJohnston (talk) 14:00, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

@EdJohnston: Hello, Ed. I find their edits to be both nonconstructive and unreferenced. As you can see, I reverted many of their edits so far, and I plan to continue with that when I see its necessary. As for what they are trying to do, you can easily classify that as spamming. --Sundostund (talk) 16:53, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
What do you think they are trying to promote? EdJohnston (talk) 17:55, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
@EdJohnston: I don't think they are trying to promote anything - as I said, it looks just like spamming to me. --Sundostund (talk) 18:08, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
WP:SPAM refers to advertising, does it not? EdJohnston (talk) 18:10, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
@EdJohnston: If we look at the rules in a strict way, yes. But, in this case we have just a flood of useless edits, without some clear intention to promote or advertise something. --Sundostund (talk) 18:19, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Request for help

Hi Sundostund! Than you for the tremendous work you have been putting in Politics of Serbia - related articles. I have a request for help on articles Minister without portfolio (Serbia) and Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia. Are you able to convert tables on these pages to the style of table applied here: Ministry of Culture and Information (Serbia). Also, add charge for ministers w/o portfilio if you are able to find it. If I find some time, I'll also create articles about all major offices of the Government of Serbia like Public's Attorney etc, which are under direct jurisdiction of the Government. Bye!--AirWolf talk 02:40, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

@AirWolf: Thank you very much for kind words about my work! You did some awesome job as well, and I can only encourage you to continue like that. As for converting the tables which you mentioned, I don't think its a good idea. Deputy PMs and ministers without portfolio don't have the same status as "regular" government ministers, and my opinion is that those tables should stay different from each other. Also, charges for ministers without portfolio maybe can be found in some online sources, but I'm afraid that such a thing may constitute WP:OR, which of course isn't welcome here. In the end, whenever you find some time, please continue your great work. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 16:45, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
@AirWolf: Also, whenever you have enough time, check out abolished government ministries (you can find them grouped in Category:Defunct government ministries of Serbia), and convert those lists to look like the one at Ministry of Culture and Information (Serbia). --17:09, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
I have them in mind, as I have populated this cat few days ago. Bye.--AirWolf talk 17:38, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

I will do it. There are no problem for Lesotho now ? --Panam2014 (talk) 01:40, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
@Panam2014: Yes, the Lesotho article looks fine now... As for your user page, I think it would be nice if you create it. Just put there some basic stuff about yourself – your interests, country/ethnicity, political/religious affiliations, etc. Basically, whatever you feel comfortable to disclose about yourself. Of course, as I said before, this is just a friendly suggestion, and its totally up to you to decide about this. --Sundostund (talk) 15:53, 22 July 2017 (UTC)

Viliami Tungī Mailefihi

Thanks for your crop of Viliami Tungī Mailefihi. Would you be able to help with a further head and shoulders portrait of him to be added the the List of Old Newingtonians? I imagine it could be used in the Prime Ministers of Tonga list as well. Thanks Castlemate (talk) 07:51, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

@Castlemate: I'm really glad you like it, but it wasn't my work, just my initiative - I requested the creation of that crop at Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Photography workshop/Archive/May 2020#Crop images. I myself was never really good at work with pics... If you want to turn the crop into a head and shoulders portrait, its totally fine by me. --Sundostund (talk) 15:36, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Belize

Well done on the heads of state of Belize mate.Mr Hall of England (talk) 18:59, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

@Mr Hall of England: Thanks, mate! I also plan to create lists of heads of state of some other existing Commonwealth realms, if I find time for that. --Sundostund (talk) 20:11, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
I would leave Australia, Canada and New Zealand for a while because that would take ages. Mr Hall of England (talk) 09:18, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
Antigua and Barbuda, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands are left. Mr Hall of England (talk) 09:25, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
@Mr Hall of England: I can agree with that, to some extent - Australia, Canada and New Zealand are the oldest existing Commonwealth realms, and creating those lists would need some time to be done. Still, it must be done eventually... As for the other existing realms, I'll start working on them when I have more time for that. --Sundostund (talk) 16:10, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Sundostund.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 09:53, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
