[edit]Hello Subclassic. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "sandbox".

License tagging for File:Amanda byram.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Amanda byram.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:05, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- The image appears to have been lifted from here:[1] I don't think this is a free image. Chaheel Riens (talk) 10:47, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
There has been no "lifting" of anything - nor has anything been "pandered" to. Whether you think it's a free image or not, the fact remains it is an image that Amanda has requested be used on her own Wikipedia entry. The image used is owned by Amanda Byram, someone I represent. If the copyright image is incorrectly tagged, it would be enormously helpful were someone able to point out how it is incorrect rather than simply deleting the image as a result of an incorrect assumption. Subclassic (talk) 12:57, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- Please be aware that nobody, not even Amanda Byram, owns the Amanda Byram page. Placing an illegally uploaded image on her page is inappropriate. If you wish to upload it correctly with proper licensing, that would be fine. WP:IMAGES provides adequate help. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:13, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- If you really do represent Amanda Byram as you claim - you should also read this conflict of interest article. Chaheel Riens (talk) 13:44, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Amanda byram.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Amanda byram.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 06:08, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Amanda byram.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Amanda byram.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:52, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Jim Hamilton professional rugby player.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Jim Hamilton professional rugby player.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stemoc 08:13, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
Stemoc
[edit]I'm having similar issues with user Stemoc persistently changing images on a wiki page even though I own the photos and license. This person seems to get off on this and should be reported. I was going through his talk page and saw you were having the same issue. Very annoying. Please let me know if you came up with a resolution. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Planb88 (talk • contribs) (moved from User:Subclassic by —Guanaco 00:25, 27 May 2017 (UTC))
Hi Planb88 - sorry to read you're experiencing similar problems with the user Stemoc. A more helpful and significantly less religion-obsessed and passive aggressive Wikpedia editor kindly pointed me to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, an email address to which the following form was submitted. I understand that particular email inbox can take some time for the volunteers to sift through so, in the meantime, there's a photo on Jim Hamilton's page which Stemoc seems unable to find fault with.
"I hereby affirm that I xxxxxx the creator and/or sole owner of the exclusive copyright of the image Jim_Hamilton_professional_rugby_player.jpg, as shown in the attached image and have legal authority in my capacity to release the copyright of that work: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Hamilton_(rugby_union) I agree to publish the above-mentioned content under the following free license: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International. I acknowledge that by doing so I grant anyone the right to use the work, even in a commercial product or otherwise, and to modify it according to their needs, provided that they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws. I am aware that this agreement is not limited to Wikipedia or related sites. I am aware that the copyright holder always retains ownership of the copyright as well as the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be claimed to have been made by the copyright holder. I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project. xxxxxxx Sender's authority - Copyright Holder Tuesday 16th May, 2017"
Regrettably the same user, Stemoc, also found it necessary to become involved in a Wikipedia page I created some years ago, indulging in the same passive aggressive behaviour and casting (incorrect, unfounded, unnecessary, tiresome) aspersions on the legality of another image I was 100% authorised to use and for which there is a Creative Commons license. I decided to take the high road rather than waste any more time with someone who, as you've suggested, seems to take an unusual pleasure in making work for and winding up others.
We should be thankful for the likes of Guanaco and the other helpful editors of Wikipedia, while hoping we never have to endure the likes of the other one in person. I hope you're able to resolve your particular dispute without losing too much faith in humanity.
All the best,
Subclassic Subclassic (talk) 12:18, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Subclassic. I'm only seeing this now. I uploaded another photo that I took personally and again Stemoc changed the image and had the other one deleted. Its very frustrating but I have placed a a request for undulation. The funny thing is the picture he keeps replacing my image with is by his own rational not a free image. Its a photo a photographer uploaded, where he himself is in the photo. And per wikipedia/wikicommons, if he didn't take the picture (and he couldn't have because he was in it) then he doesn't hold copyright and does not have the authority to release them. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Planb88 (talk) 05:35, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
Freak scene
[edit]Hello, I'm Ghmyrtle. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Freak scene have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:42, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Ghmyrtle. Thank you for the message and the keen interest you're taking in this. I submit that the key word in what you've written is, "appeared". The source cited is clearly independent and describes the etymology of the Freak Scene name and inspiration to two notable people in English and Australian society. Kindly undo your most recent edit. Thank you, Subclassic. Subclassic (talk) 19:49, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- I've now included a brief mention of the restaurants - but they are, at most, of very marginal relevance to the topic of the article, and most editors would remove it. Your edit was clearly framed in a promotional way and based on an unacceptable tabloid source. Incidentally, are you by any chance related to or associated with Scott Hallsworth, given your keen interest in that article? Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:13, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
