Speedy deletion nomination of BiggerPockets
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on BiggerPockets requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Request reason:
To whom it may concern, I would like to request the unblocking of my account. On August 26th, 2016 I attempted to write an article on BiggerPockets social network. This was my first attempt at a Wikipedia article, and to my own fault, I did not take into account the process needed to be followed when developing an article. After further reading on how best to work within the Wikipedia ecosystem, I have found that I did not follow the correct path. Thus, given the pending reactivation of my account, I intent to follow the Wikipedia guidelines for writing articles. In regards to the BiggerPockets article, I am in no way affiliated to the site other than being a member, since Real Estate Investment is part of my educational career, I would like to contribute through the development of content based on real estate investment. Any articles that I will write or contribute to will be done so in an objective manor. I understand the importance of this, given my experience at Harvard Business School, and will conduct the necessary research needed before publishing an article in the future. Thank you, StuartMVG (talk) 04:12, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
Decline reason:
It seems no admin is willing to unblock you at this point unless you agree not to write about BiggerPockets. Such a topic ban can be overturned when you have a proven track record and have shown that you can maintain a neutral point of view, so it would not be a permanent restriction. Huon (talk) 11:19, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Do you explictly agree to stop trying to create an article about BiggerPockets (which does not appear to meet WP:WEB)?OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:52, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
I do agree to not creating an article about BiggerPockets that does not meet WP:WEB. StuartMVG (talk) 13:23, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- That's not what was asked. Do you agree not to create an article about BiggerPockets? I'm worried if we unblock you right now, you'd attempt recreation with the excuse, "it meets WP:WEB". I want to be clear, I'm seeking to clarify your editing intentions, I'm not remotely trying to imply anything here. --Yamla (talk) 13:29, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
I have no intentions on jumping right back into a BiggerPockets article. As stated before, I would like to develop articles on Real Estate Investment (as well as others), and until such time as to when I have enough information to write an article on BiggerPockets that complies with the WP:WEB and has been through review, I will not be working on any public article. Thus, saying I will never work on a BiggerPockets article, is not something I can state. I hope this doesn't come across as being defined or disrespectful, my only intention is to ensure that if at a later stage I do work on a BiggerPockets article, that is compliant, I will run into the problem of saying that I would never work on a BiggerPockets article again. I would like to request the unblocking of my account. It has been a year since the block was placed, and I have no intention of writing an article on BiggerPockets. Thank you, StuartMVG

- What articles do you have intention to write/edit? Please, also, explain what policies were you violating previously and how. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:28, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings Vanjagenije. The article I intend to edit/write are those in connection to my work. At my current place of work I over see the media for Professor Michael Porter at the ISC[1], as well as helping our team put together new articles on health care. The policy I was in violation of in my last article attempt was that of developing an article for BiggerPockets, which violated section A7 and also was seen as a publicity/marketing move. In all honesty I'm still not 100% sure of why BiggerPockets has been blacklisted, but I do understand not to write any article on it. Thank you, StuartMVG (talk) 13:57, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- In Wikipedia, it is very important to respect the conflict of interest (COI). As the WP:COI policy states, "COI editing is strongly discouraged". Can you clarify what you mean when you say you want to write
in connection to my work
? You shouldn't be writing about people, companies or other subjects to which you are connected thru work. You have the conflict of interest regarding those topics and you will not be unblocked if you plan to make COI edits. Please, also clarify the part abouthelping our team put together new articles on health care
. Are you talking about Wikipedia articles? Vanjagenije (talk) 18:30, 26 July 2017 (UTC) - My role in writing/editing Michael Porter's page, is to update and add to the page's current articles, work streams, and references. As for
helping our team put together new articles on health care
, the health care research team would like to contribute to the development of Wikipedia pages surrounding health care and its business strategies, similar to that of other Wikipedia page's focused on business strategies and theories. My role in this is developing the page structure and format, not content. Thank you StuartMVG (talk) 18:56, 26 July 2017 (UTC)- So, your main intention here is to make edits to topics with which you have WP:conflict of interest. Since we discourage COI editing, I can't unblock you. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:41, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for reviewing my case. StuartMVG (talk) 13:17, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
