Thanks for uploading File:MC Asawana awarded most creative comedian in Abuja, 2014.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. Re: I can't find the "send this user a mail" button!

[edit]

Firstly, I apologize for replying late, I had some urgent issues that required my full concentration yesterday. Secondly, I believe its because you're using a mobile device. Even though I use a mobile device often, I usually switch to desktop mode when editing. I'll send you the mail, but for you to be very efficient you need to first demonstrate that you understand what Wikipedia stands for and what is not suitable for Wikipedia. I'll also advise that for now, don't create any more articles till you've gone through WP:RS and WP:Notability. I can see you now understand WP:COI, it remains RS and Notability, and you should be good to go. Once again, thank you for volunteering.HandsomeBoy (talk) 08:31, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Further to our discussion

[edit]

As we agreed you will learn the basics of editing by concentrating on notable Nigerian film and musical articles. For films, go through AMVCA or AMAA nominations, any film you see there is likely to be notable. Also, any Nigerian film that is being shown at the cinema is also likely to be notable. As for Nigerian songs, most of the new songs from artistes such as Davido, Wizkid and other A-list artistes are notable. Songs like If, Assurance, Fall, etc are good for Wikipedia. When it comes to films and songs what you should watch out for is a review, once you get one then you are good to go.

A good way to get the structure is to look at similar film or music articles. Look at the way it is written then you can write yours from there. Its sad we're not in the same town, I would have loved to explain things physically. But virtual communication is also cool. I'll be with you all through the process. And please, let us start with a draft. What I mean is use Draft:ArticleName instead of just ArticleName. If you need more clarity, please let me know. HandsomeBoy (talk) 21:15, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I will do as guided HandsomeBoy

[edit]

Okay Sir! I totally get the picture now. Will follow according to your guidance and hopefully, come out a great editor! Thanks for staying in touch Sir. Stevedure (talk) 21:36, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the kind words Steve, I am truly honoured and feel appreciated. I just have a few things to point out. First, when there is a post on your talkpage you do not need to create another section for your reply, just use ":" have the discussion in threads like what i'm doing now. You can see I used just a single colon to begin my message, if you're to reply me then you should use two colon i.e. "::" to start. You don't need the "==" except you want to start an entirely new discussion. Secondly, on your choice of article, I want us to start work immediately, I have some suggestions for you. You are to choose one film and one song to create. The films available at this time are: Alter Ego, Tatu, Hakkunde and Esohe. The songs available are Assurance, If, Fall, Soco and Ma lo. Please choose one song and one film that we will work on. Just anyone that seem interesting to you. You don't need to have watched the film or listened to the song before choosing it. All we will be using for the article will be from references. HandsomeBoy (talk) 21:03, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Re:

[edit]
Okay Boss. Will get back with the combination I feel comfortable with. Thank you for helping me make my contributions to Wikipedia. Stevedure (talk) 02:43, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Its great to see that you used "::" in your reply. However, you shouldn't include "== Re: =="as that is only for when you want to create a new section, which you don't need here.HandsomeBoy (talk) 06:25, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How does an article gets seen on Google search page?

[edit]

Meanwhile Mr HandsomeBoy, what qualifies a Wikipedia profile/page to be seen by a simple Google search? Is there any special procedure to undertake? Stevedure (talk) 02:48, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No. There is no special procedure. The moment you publish an article and it is reviewed it gets indexed by Google immediately.HandsomeBoy (talk) 06:22, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Does it then mean the articles I moved to mainspace have not been verified? Stevedure (talk) 18:59, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The way the Google algorithm works it is until an article is reviewed on Wikipedia that it usually have enough rank to be on the first page of search results. The articles you created are yet to be reviewed, but that does not mean they are not indexed by Google, just not high enough to appear on the first page. If you include "Wikipedia" to your search query, I believe you will see your article in the first page.
Reminder - The colon(s) and your first text should be on the same line, I have done some formatting to put the discussion flow in threads. Your next reply to this thread should have four colons (::::) since mine had three, and should be followed immediately by your message in the same line of text. HandsomeBoy (talk) 11:46, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Re:

[edit]
Okay Boss.I have begun work on the movie; Alter Ego! However, I realized that a Wikipedia search of the name "Alter Ego" brings an article written about the adjectival phrase, "alter ego" how do I go about the name of the movie to avoid duplicity of names in the main space? Stevedure (talk) 12:29, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's correct. You will encounter many instances like this on Wikipedia. What we do in such cases is that we use additional information to disambiguate the regular title. In this case, Alter Ego (2017 film) is the perfect title for the Nigerian film. And please, as I stated earlier, you don't need to use a section header (ie "==Re==") when replying to me, just use only the colons, increasing them by one for each new reply. You're doing well. HandsomeBoy (talk) 18:40, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

.

[edit]
okay. But the "save" button won't highlight unless I type something into the "subject" dialogue box. How do I go about responding without with a heading sir? Besides, should I submit the article, "Alter Ego" for review? Stevedure (talk) 00:01, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The reason that is happening is because you are clicking on "New section", instead of "Edit". When you want to reply me, what you should click is Edit, not new section. And you need to write in your own words, follow the structure of this film article, Banana Island Ghost by replacing what you find in the references for Alter Ego in Draft:Alter Ego (2017 film). And we use year of production as qualifier before country of production. It is only when there are more than one films in a year that we need to include the country in the Wikipedia title. You do not need to submit for review, when its okay for mainspace, I'll review it myself. Just notify me when the draft has been created. HandsomeBoy (talk) 14:08, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! This is almost very difficult but I think I will catch up. It's challenging quite alright but not impossible. Thank you for sticking your neck to help me pull through. I shall rewrite the article, following the instructions passed. Thank you Sir.
The fact that you've perfected how to reply to messages using the colon shows there is progress. And don't be discouraged by the hurdles you are facing now, believe me you're not the first. There are some experienced editors that went through similar challenges. If we were doing this physically, I am sure you would have gotten it faster. The moment you start editing the draft please let me know, although I will be monitoring your contributions at least twice in a week. HandsomeBoy (talk) 21:23, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay Sir. And thank you so much
Mr HandsomeBoy, I have created the article "draft:Alter Ego (2017)" kindly review and tell me if there are adjustments to be made Sir. Stevedure (talk) 00:59, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Sunkanmi Vaughan for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Sunkanmi Vaughan is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sunkanmi Vaughan until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. power~enwiki (π, ν) 18:52, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Even if I participate in the AFD, and you get a 100 more persons to vote in your favour, our argument will not outweigh one policy-oriented vote. AFD is not voting, the closing admin will get consensus from assessing if the notability guidelines have been met. My advice for you is assume good faith, observe and learn from the direction of the AFD. It is perfectly okay for you to continue to participate in the AFD, but don't take any delete !vote too personal, and remember that asking editors to vote in your favour is considered bad practice on Wikipedia. And just because a subject may not be notable today, does not mean he can't be notable tomorrow. Cheers.HandsomeBoy (talk) 23:28, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alter Ego

[edit]

I just went through your contributions to find out that you've started the Alter Ego article. You did very well, it looks good. I'll do a little cleanup on it now. But you didn't notify me when you started the draft or even moved to mainspace. HandsomeBoy (talk) 19:12, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry that I did not inform you boss. I have created for almost two weeks now. I thought it would automatically appear where you could see it. Thanks for the compliment though, it has lifted my spirited.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sunkanmi Vaughan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. How did you do it?

[edit]

Hello @HandsomeBoy:, I was just going through your contributions and stumbled upon an article about Krisdera Hotel, Omoku Porthacourt which only barely has a source. Just a single source actually! I was curious how is that possible Sir? Stevedure (talk) 02:32, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Steve. Great to her from you again. Firstly, when you want to send me a message, the appropriate place to do that is my talk page. You are redirected to my talkpage by clicking the blue "talk" text after my username. You are probably mistaking me for someone else as I can't recall ever editing/creating articles for Krisdera Hotel or Omoku Porthacourt. I have not even created any article for an hotel in Nigeria, neither have I worked on Port Harcourt topics. That being said, even though GNG is the basic requirement for addition of contents on Wikipedia, specific guidelines for certain topics varies. For example, if I wanted to create an article for a major town in Nigeria, a single source might be sufficient. Regards. HandsomeBoy (talk) 08:10, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Tunde Ednut has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable entertainer, no coverage in reliable sources does not meet WP:GNG, WP:NBIO, WP:ENTERTAINER

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. signed, Rosguill talk 03:50, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Vaughan book cover.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Vaughan book cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:43, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Lionel Reina, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ICT (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

File permission problem with File:Lionel Reina.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Lionel Reina.jpg, which you've attributed to Lionel Reina. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:25, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Chioma

[edit]

Hello, Stevedure,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Chioma should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chioma .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Disclosure required

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Stevedure. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Stevedure. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Stevedure|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. GSS (talk|c|em) 11:56, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi GSS,I am a law abiding editor of Wikipedia and have only edited articles that fit into Wikipedia requirements. I stumbled on the afd "Ishan Goel" and decided to add my views, of which I feel necessitated this message by you. I remain committed to the rules of this community and I shall continue to carry out my editing as such. In any case, I hope the essence of this message is not to intimidate and bully editors into silence! Stevedure (talk) 12:48, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

AfroCine: The Months of African Cinema Continues….

[edit]

Greetings!

Thank you very much for signing up to participate in the Months of African Cinema global contest/edit-a-thon, and thank you for your contributions so far.

It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 200 articles created in over seven (7) languages! The figures soars to up to a thousand, if Wikidata entries are included. Furthermore, there have been about 5 in-person gatherings of Wikipedians in different countries across the world to create articles about African(a) cinema!

We are very excited about what has been achieved so far, but your contributions are still needed to further exceed all expectations! Let’s create more articles before the end of this contest, which is this November!!!

  • Article suggestions can be found here. You can also add to this list.
  • Some notable reliable sources for African cinema can be found here. Again, this list needs expansion.
  • Interested in Wikidata translation? check out the Occupation Drive, which is being led by Wiki Loves Women, in support of the contest and the project!
  • Please remember to list articles you have created or improved in the Article Achievements section of the contest page, so that they can be easily tracked.

Thank you once again for being part of this global event!

Kind regards.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:50, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have fulfilled the policy of paid contribution disclosure which was the crux for my block. Therefore, the block is no longer necessary. As regard the user, Nkpodookpeche; the editor was my employer and decided to move the article, Lionel Reina to main space when I was blocked. I take full responsibility in the part I played and promise to be a better and more transparent editor moving forward and I do hope my account is kindly unblocked soonest Stevedure (talk) 20:28, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

So you did collude with another editor off-wiki to force the article into mainspace, then. I think at this stage, an agreement to avoid engaging in paid editing altogether is pretty much your only likely route to being unblocked. Yunshui  09:39, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@GSS: @Kuru: @Doc James:

They have not come close to disclosing all the other people who have paid them.
And than we have the questionable copyright issues such as this.[1] which is a cropped version of [2]

We still have a lot of clean up to do :-( Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 17:10, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Doc James: it is obvious you already have a thought pattern about this editor. I can't change that, much as I would love to. I will not be surprised if you also consider editing my user page as paid editing. However, I have disclosed all paid contributions. But if you have evidence that says otherwise, now is the time to present such. I promise to never engage in paid editing again as recommended by @Yunshui:.

Request reason:

I have disclosed all paid editing which was the basis for my block. I hereby agree to NEVER engage in paid editing again. I hope my account is unblocked soon. Thank you. Stevedure (talk) 19:21, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline, as you seem to indicate that you no longer wish to be unblocked. If you change your mind, you may make a new request. 331dot (talk) 08:46, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by "unknown on behalf of Lionel Reina & Ishan Goel"?
You initially said "Hi GSS,I am a law abiding editor of Wikipedia and have only edited articles that fit into Wikipedia requirements. I stumbled on the afd "Ishan Goel" and decided to add my views, of which I feel necessitated this message by you." and now you are saying they were paying you? Ie you did not stumble across the afd.
It does not appear that you have disclosed all your paid editing :-( Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 17:52, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
A further note: the behaviour on the Ishan Goel AFD reminded me that there was a degree of sockpuppetry going on there... enough to spark my suspicions. A CU check reveals that this account operates from the same location, using the same ISP, as the sockmaster User:Buzzy anslem. Given the parallels, I am fairly sure that this account is part of the same paid editing ring, and have updated the block and userpage accordingly. Yunshui  18:15, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At this point it is safe to say I'm done fighting to be unblocked. It has been a wonderful two years with Wikipedia. I guess I have to move on. You guys should enjoy yourselves Sirs! Stevedure (talk) 22:25, 22 November 2018 (UTC) @Yunshui: I accepted to have been paid on that Ishan Goel article just see if I can be unblocked. I have no connection with any account there. But that is not necessary now. I can't put in more energy in this than what is needed for an MD like.Stevedure (talk) 22:36, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Dumo Lulu-Briggs

[edit]

Hello, Stevedure. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Dumo Lulu-Briggs".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Dolotta (talk) 02:55, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
