MIsinformation about MOSNUM discussion on year articles
[edit]No, it's not the articles themselves that are regarded almost always as trivial, but the links to them. This is patent faleshood that is being put about by the bot you appear to operate. Tony (talk) 01:45, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. The notice I sent out was apparently written by Wrad, there's a small note at the end of the text saying the request was filed by him. If there is an issue with the text I'd be happy to go out in fix it, but that is in no way my duty. I read over the note and it seemed legit so I passed it out. If by bot disfigured your page in any way that would be something for me to fix immediately with a million apologies. I can't monitor every single RFC and MoS discussion out there. I would like you to know that I am sorry there appears to be misinformation from your message, but at this point in time the best person to talk to would be the person who sent the request. Thanks for letting me know about the issue, and I hope I've answered it to your satisfaction. If there's something I didn't cover please let me know and I'll try to help out the best I can. §hep • ¡Talk to me! 01:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, you said it: you've passed on the message. Please discuss this with whoever it was who wrote the text. Tony (talk) 02:09, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- The request is right above, as I said it was Wrad. I have don't know what the exact problem with the text is and thus don't know what to discuss. Maybe it would be best if opened that line of communication? If there's anything else I can do let me know, §hep • ¡Talk to me! 02:11, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

- Hi there, welcome to Wikipedia! Way to be bold by making one of your first contributions creating an article. I honestly don't plan to touch the article again. Why did shepbot archive this page? I do not see any indicator that it was going to do this, the were no notes saying it was going to do so. Orphaned non-free media (File:McDonalds Logo.svg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:McDonalds Logo.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Akron again
[edit]Just to let you know I reverted 33 edits to the Akron, Ohio article back to your last revision (plus removed the semi-protection tag as it had already been removed by the bot). It seems much of what was added was the same info that had been previously been removed either exactly the same or just reworded (like the list "firsts in Akron" was written out as a paragraph list rather than a bulleted list). I think you noticed some of it as you commented already on the userpage of the anonymous user who made the changes. --JonRidinger (talk) 21:09, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ya. It looks suspicious to me too. Thanks for the reversion, it's hard to AGF with an anon that edits the article that crazily for such a short period. Most of it was unreffed and didn't follow the general style anyways. There's more I want to hack (pretty much anything unreferenced) in the next couple minutes too. I also think it's odd that as soon as the protection expired they started editing, might have to keep an eye on the account. Screwy that it's a library. §hep • Talk 21:14, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Very screwy indeed. There's a bunch I want to hack off the article too, but the last thing I want it to see it get bloated with more trivia and unsourced info. The info that was added back, however, seems to be consistent with the previous problems. Good faith and intentions, but a bit misguided it seems. --JonRidinger (talk) 21:19, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- I just went ahead and removed the entire section on the KKK in Akron as I read it again and realized it wasn't that important to the article as a whole and was largely tangential. Nothing notable occurred as a result of that outside of some local politics. It would be more appropriate for an article about the KKK in Ohio or an article on Willkie like you mentioned in your note. --JonRidinger (talk) 21:38, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I wasn't sure if it was useful or not, but figured you or Fish (drawing a blank...) would be able to assess that better than me. Also, thanks for leaving another note with the IP I'm not the best with articulating my thoughts into type. §hep • Talk 21:42, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Hello, just so you know, I've moved this page to User:Stepshep/Akron, Ohio. Pages in the article namespace can't have subpages, so your "sandbox" was an actual article for about a month. Using a user subpage is the way to do what you were trying to do. Thanks. Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:43, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- That doesn't sound right for some reason. It's utilizing the same purpose of a /Temp subpage which are allowed to cleanup articles. It would have been preferable to move the content to the Talk: mainspace then and delete the main page if it was causing that much harm. §hep • Talk 21:48, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Composers bot run (continued!)
[edit]I've now checked about 50 of the remaining 600-odd Category:Unassessed Composers articles and I've found that almost all of them have been mis-assessed by the Biography Project - or that the assessment is completely out of date.
I'm wondering if we can continue the bot run to mark Category:Unassessed Composers articles as Start class, specifically ignoring Biography Project assessments? (The would leave only articles that have been otherwise rated by projects other than Biography.) How would that be? Best. --Kleinzach 05:30, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes I could do that, I actually thought I had? Can't find the file I could have used though, and I try to save most run files, so I guess I didn't. I've got this week pretty much stuck up with Christianity sorting; it's time-sensitive due to cat renaming. Yes, I can do this, but I wouldn't be able to look at it until next week at the earliest? Is that good with you? §hep • Talk 23:51, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia: The Missing Manual
[edit]First, I'm glad to see the edits you've done so far to improve the wiki version of the book.
Second, thanks for the suggestion about {{Wikipedia-screenshot}}. I actually uploaded an image using that template, then asked about it and three other early uploads here. Unfortunately, the response was more than 36 hours (with the same suggestion as yours, as a matter of fact), and I'd uploaded all but a dozen or so images by that time. And at this point I don't want to go back and manually make that change. (If it has to be done, I'll ask for help at WP:BOTREQ.)
Third, regarding the figures/screenshots that ended up (improperly) with Wikimedia Foundation logos, I'm surprised that I missed those - I was certainly trying to avoid the globe in the upper left corner of Wikipedia pages (though not fully successful even at that). Two of the seven are not actually used in the Help pages are can be deleted; for the other five, the solution is probably for me to take the tiff images I have, modify them, and then upload them as replacements in png format. I'm planning to start on that.
Fourth, regarding your offer of doing an imagemap, I appreciate that, but I'm not planning to add any functionality to the wiki version of the book; rather, this is a sort of experiment as to what other editors want to do with the book. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 16:44, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm actually pretty sure that the images with logos are fine to use on Foundation servers, I believe it's more of a note for people from other sites that want to use the image; but I'm not a lawyer by any means. I'll go through and modify the tags for you, it shouldn't take too much effort to code. §hep • Talk 00:23, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Would you mind if I moved this page to within Wikiproject Films? Also, would it be possible to have the list periodically updated, or would it be best to request an update as and when it is needed? Cheers! PC78 (talk) 19:12, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Feel free to move the page wherever you like, when it's in its new location could do tag it with {{db-author}} or let me know when you do the move? I recently switched over to Win7 for wiki issues and my event reminder doesn't work for one reason or another, until then when you need it updated...if you don't mind...would be to stop by and let me know. Thanks and I'm gald the list works for you. §hep • Talk 00:26, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Photos
[edit]When you get a chance, you may want to check the latest images added to Kent State University Stark Campus. I checked them and didn't see any copyright notices from KSU, but I just want to make sure. Thanks!
Also, I noticed you removed the reference to Jeff Timmons from the Kent, Ohio article the other day citing him as being from Canton. While that is definitely true, he was properly placed in the section (by another user) in the list of people who had graduated from or attended Kent State, which Jeff Timmons did for at least a year. I didn't place it back because the list is already long enough, but just FYI. --JonRidinger (talk) 21:30, 2 February 2009 (UTC) =)
- Images: I'll be sure to check them out. Timmons: Oops. Besides from the category I didn't see anything mentioning his attending and thought it might have been vandalism. I'll be sure to Google something like next time instead of relying solely on our content. §hep • Talk 21:35, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Only one that strikes me as off is File:Boze.Commencement.jpg. It's more web-standardized small than direct camera upload. If they have a larger version to upload that'd probably be better. §hep • Talk 21:57, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- I was wondering if you had some time to look at something for me. I created a stub of Werner Company Building, and have more hidden content in the article. I can't figure out if the news article I found (online version) is talking about the big red buidling (Picture), or if it's even registered. When it mentions a printing plant that was part of an 11 building complex I'm not sure if I have the right thing. Do you have any idea is I'm on the right track? Thanks, §hep • Talk 22:44, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Curious
[edit]I'm curious why you basically reverted most of my edits on Kent State University Stark Campus, particularly the Almuni section. The KSU Alumni site identifies the chapter as the "Kent State University Stark County Alumni Chapter" and makes no reference of Kent State Stark having its own alumni chapter separate from KSU's. In other words there is the Kent State University Alumni Association which includes all campuses and has chapters in various locations (like Stark County). I also removed the many of the entries from the alumni list that did not have articles of their own and were not notable outside of limited local notability. --JonRidinger (talk) 22:48, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- OK looks like you changed it back. Had me worried there! --JonRidinger (talk) 22:50, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- I had myself worried, that shouldn't have even saved. §hep • Talk 22:51, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Gryllus Veletis
[edit]- (Moved down to correct spot)
Hello, I'm new to Wikipedia editing. I noticed you changed some of the referencing on the Gryllus Veletis page; is it customary to put references after the periods? In scientific papers the references appear before the period which is why it is this way within the article. Thanks.Whiteara356 (talk) 05:11, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- I was going off of WP:REFPUN where it states that the norm is for the ref to be after punctuation marks. I figured that the page was new enough to transform it to the normal way articles as edited, I really don't like the double-standards we use for referencing..but that's another issue.:D But, as always, if you see the move as incorrect or in bad form feel free to revert. §hep • Talk 05:17, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
references for Castillo v. Case Farms of Ohio
[edit]Hello StepShep, You have added a Unreferenced tag to Castillo v. Case Farms of Ohio. Can you help me correct this problem, all information contained in this article can be found in the majority opinion in 96 F Supp. 2d 578, Or, that opinion is also reprinted in "Business Organizations, Cases Problems, and case Studies" Second Edition, Aspen Publishing, 2008. What is the proper way for me to add this information into the article? Thank you, Leafyplant 17:05, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, I see you've added a reference list at the bottom of the article. That's a great start. What I'd recommend is adding footnotes throughout the article, preferably using citation templates (though these aren't necessary). You might want to categorize the article under Category:Lawsuits (it is a lawsuit right?) and one of more of the subcats of Category:United States law if any apply. WikiProject Law might have someone who know about the area more than me help you. Also, what infobox template did you use for your article? I usually don't see infobox text in the article unless it's a mistake. Finally, {{cite book}} should work for your one reference, I'm not sure how to cite a case#. Was this a Supreme Court case? §hep • Talk 03:36, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Jim Brickman Start-Class article
[edit]Hi! I'm relatively new to this. So far I've created a very easy article and have tried to update a few articles by adding references where there are none. I figured that any work I do in such articles would have to be an improvement. So, I put in quite a bit of time trying to improve the Jim Brickman article. Then, along comes your ShepBot that rates it Start-Class on the Project's quality scale. I was wondering what I would need to do for it to move up to, say, B-Class. Although maybe my lot in life is to focus on articles in line for deletion and just add some references so they get to Start-Class. Any feedback welcome. Thanks!--Ludasaphire (talk) 23:19, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, I hope you didn't take offense that the assessment happened. It was requested by the Composer's project to auto-assess Start-class articles if there were no conflicting assessments. For the project I work with, Ohio, I would assess the article as C-Class based on WP:OH/A. All projects are different though, for instance Composer's doesn't use C-Class for their own reasons; so ther B-Class restrictions might not be as tight as Ohio's. I made some quick changes, MoSNUM, whitespace, template mods, +pdata, alphabetize categories. The last one doesn't really matter, but I find it makes searching categories easier. Other than that, I'd say it's really up to your discretion of where you see the article to be based on the different projects standards. If I didn't answer anything completely enough let me know, §hep • Talk 03:26, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining. No offense taken at all; I'm just trying to figure things out. When you say "it's really up to your discretion" who is the "you"? I ask because in another article, Lee Oskar I'm about 1/2 through improving it. It had no references, not infobox, no contents or organization, etc. So, unlike Jim Brickman where I just added references but otherwise left it alone, with Lee Oskar I'm starting to move things around. I assume that's OK. My question is: when is it OK for me to remove or change a banner based on my own work? Or is that never appropriate, and I should just wait (or ask) for someone else to do it? Thanks again, §hep for having taken so much time to explain the process.--Ludasaphire (talk) 16:49, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Generally you can assess an article you're working on without much trouble. As long as you use your best judement based off of any project specs (and if there are none {{grading scheme}}) you should be good to go. §hep • Talk 19:54, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Perfect. Thanks again ShepBot.--Ludasaphire (talk) 21:23, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

I've been thinking, and once we've randomised everything at the portal, do we want to nominate for Featured Portal? SpencerT♦C 21:50, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ya, that sounds like a plan. Seems other things took over from that, but it'd be a good project to finish up. Do you have a timeline in mind? §hep • Talk 21:55, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps by 2-3 weeks max? We can start now by randomising everything. I believe I'll be free on Saturday and Sunday to start working on it. SpencerT♦C 01:19, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- We also need to completely fill-in "On this day in Ohio history..." SpencerT♦C 01:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

- I created {{Portal:Ohio/FAFooter}} which adds the links that we used. All that you need top do is identify that article it should link to. ie {{Portal:Ohio/FAFooter|Cleveland, Ohio}}. I don't remember if we talked about this before or not, do we want to moved the subpages from /Featured to /Selected that way we can also use GAs/good Bs or do we want to keep it Featured Content only? The Ohio history does need filled in, it seems like I did more dates that what's there. That was an interesting book though. §hep • Talk 03:12, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think its fine to leave the pages where they are, but we could fill them up with the current Ohio FAs (we have plenty more that could go on). Do we want to move this conversation (and future ones) to Portal talk:Ohio. I'll watch the page. Thanks, SpencerT♦C 00:28, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Where should I put my explanation? Next to the link, in the DRAMA proposal section? Basically I took all active discussions off of {{cent}}, an active VP discussion that had wide ramifications, and RFCs that were categorized under policy and a few under style. How does it look to you so far? §hepTalk 04:28, 14 February 2009 (UTC)- I would (will) expand the intro paragraph (sentence) at the top. — Jake Wartenberg 04:36, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

- What would you think about somehow trying to organize the discussions by topic rather than type? Like, discussions about procedure, style, etc? Might make it more readable. Also, do you want to cover all of these discussions ... or select some? What will it look like next week, when many of the same conversations are going on? I might also include dates at the top, if any RFCs are set to expire at a particular date, for instance. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 00:48, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ya, that sounds like a good idea (Sorting by type, and dating convos). Really whatever you guys think would be the best way to approcach this section. I'm not sure what we shouldn't include though, mostly everything is something of some importance...generally. Are there certain conversations that you think shouldn't be included...or are there some that should be added? I'm not sure about what there would be to write about for next week, should we also include an overview of recently closed discussions...or once they're closed should they be nixed from the issue? Thanks, §hepTalk 01:37, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- I just don't have a clue on how to sort these all out..everything I've been mulling over ends up with an "other" category that don't really fit. §hepTalk 02:17, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

- From archive.
Thanks, §hepTalk 03:16, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, yes, the template was discussed in reference to the Kent State University Stark Campus article some time back, though I have noticed it too has had the template repeatedly removed again and the reasoning is much the same as before. Sigh --JonRidinger (talk) 03:41, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Werner Company Building
[edit]As far as I can see in looking at the Flickr photo and reading the article from the Beacon Journal, it appears this is the correct building, but the building was not the actual plant; it is all that remains of the complex which included the plant. The article here states it was the office building, built in 1897. On the Flickr page, a poster stated: "According to some photos I found on the web, It was once the union hall for the Werner Company. The photo is dated 1978. I'm sure it has a history before that, and it would be interesting to know for what purpose it was originally built, probably in the mid to late 19th Century." I think the only thing you need to change on the Wikipedia article is that is served as the office of the 11-building complex which printed...etc. The building is on the National Register from what I can see. --JonRidinger (talk) 03:41, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Betsy Boze
[edit]I tried looking myself when I saw that update and found nothing, which leads me to believe that it was updated by either herself or an employee (especially since it was dated today). Many of the edits to her page and the Kent State University Stark Campus page have been made by her or by people who are obvious employees, which is why certain editors were so adamant about not having the full title "Kent State University Stark Campus" in the article even though it is the title and full official name (she even e-mailed me directly about that and some other issues) and have been upset about the KSU template being in the KSU-Stark and Betsy Boze articles. --JonRidinger (talk) 02:30, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- And PS thanks for removing the unsourced nicknames of Akron. The only reason I didn't is because I did previously and an editor tried defending them on the discussion page, so I wanted to give them a chance to actually prove it. --JonRidinger (talk) 02:32, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

- The Pepsi logo is a pretty easy logo to put into words. What worries me is trying to discribe the ol' Westinghouse "Anklepants" KDKA-TV logo. That one is a little more tricky. I understand why people would like to see logos discribed (even if I don't agree with it) but sometimes it is easier, in my opinion, to have a logo to see rather than be discribed. - NeutralHomer • Talk • February 21, 2009 @ 04:21

- Don't worry about it. People who only read the Signpost when it gets delivered are used to not being the first to read it immediately after publication. Thanks for delivering it.--ragesoss (talk) 22:40, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
As promised...

Akron article...again
[edit]I removed and moved several pictures, but your friend and mine cited "errors" (no details of course) so has reverted them twice. I don't want to risk a 3RR, so just be aware of it. The article may need to be protected again as virtually any edits to get it in line with policy are almost instantly reverted and more and more cruft is being added. Many of the pictures aren't really relevant to the article at all. --JonRidinger (talk) 00:24, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. I think another sock case is in order. Notice where the IP edited? I know I have a diff somewhere that proves that's Sleepydre. I'm sick of this. §hepTalk 00:42, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
warning
[edit]please do not remove content with out giving an explanation, also if you feel extreme changes are needed open a discussion on the talk page. --Methron (talk) 00:51, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- I did; I explicitly cited MOSIMAGES. (As have others) Wikipedia articles aren't an image repository (that's why we have Commons), try reading our guidelines. §hepTalk 00:53, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- As a note for if I look at this in my archives. Their reply was left here. §hepTalk 01:07, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
warning
[edit]25px You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Akron, Ohio. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Any further reversions will result in a report and appropriate block. You've already surpassed 3RR; this is you only warning.
explantions to reverts are required --Methron (talk) 02:57, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Um, no they're not. Your continued removal of a tag that has consensus to be there is what needs explaining. My replacing it is a reversion of a disruption. §hepTalk 03:00, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- And surpassing is "going over" I didn't. §hepTalk 03:01, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
then could you explain why the tag is there?--66.61.87.219 (talk) 03:05, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- That's enough for a sockpuppet report. Thanks, §hepTalk 03:07, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
haha how am i a "sockpuppet" when i closed out from windows and im not automatically logged in to my username? yeah i immit it happens and i never slow down to log in when i dont know so feel free and you are welcome.--66.61.87.219 (talk) 03:11, 25 February 2009 (UTC) aka Methron
and also why after i explained my reasoning for my edits and had no disagreement after, did you revert them? if no explanation is given then my revert will be proved to be of good.--66.61.87.219 (talk) 03:19, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- As was discussed on the Talk: page; the articles has too many images and the tag was appropriate. I've explained myself enough and I'm going to get blocked if I continue to converse with you. §hepTalk 03:21, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
and i explained how your explanation was wrong cause Los Angeles has more pictures and all wiki city pages are held to the same rules but there has yet to be a tag saying the same on that page, and when i revert it will be explained--Methron (talk) 03:25, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Los Angeles is a demoted GA. It has its issues, comparing one article to another (unless its recently featured) is meaningless. §hepTalk 03:27, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
...what is a "demoted GA" And does that have to do with anything???? Ha im starting to see something (been did)--Methron (talk) 03:31, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
also ima go ahead and revert now while feeling right about myself (and clearly am) also no explanation given to why my edits were reverted when it was proven logical--Methron (talk) 03:33, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Signpost
[edit]I just got the new signpost, and I noticed that you said it was still under design. Personally, I like it nice and plain, and would prefer a small compact version delivered, versus the former version. But mine is just one opinion out of thousands of others. :) Pax85 (talk) 05:10, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for an apparent miscommunication. The editor, Ragesoss, left that note. My bot just spammed it out. There's been talks of possibly having multiples styles available for delivery (IIRC). You should probably comment at WT:POST where the designer and editor will see your comments. Thanks for reading, §hepTalk 23:33, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]im stepping in to ask why was ALL material was undid when some had references? you seem to have some personal vendetta with Akron or all Ohio looking at your past edits. and after reading rule i know reasons have to be given to actions such as yours--TheWrongster (talk) 02:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- What is ALL material? There's no "rule" that says edit summaries must be used either. I suggest you actually read some of our guidelines before commenting to others. I guarantee they won't be as kind as me half the time. §hepTalk 02:51, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- and i guarantee if you go remove information from anyother page such as new york, los angeles, washington D.C. with out proper reason or no stated reason at all it will be reverted. and you will continue to lose credibility to your name.--TheWrongster (talk) 03:02, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ever herad of errors? They happen. The preview and save button are right next to each other. AGF n00b. :P §hepTalk 03:04, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thanks for the heads up. I was going to suggest the same thing as I suspected it as well. --JonRidinger (talk) 03:11, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
ndash
[edit]Wait, spaces around the ndash? (1812 – 1885), not (1812–1885)? – Quadell (talk) 04:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think so. MOS:ENDASH;
Spacing: All disjunctive en dashes are unspaced, except when there is a space within either one or both of the items (the New York – Sydney flight; the New Zealand – South Africa grand final; July 3, 1888 – August 18, 1940, but July–August 1940).
- Unless I'm misreading it? §hepTalk 00:40, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I see! Yes, I'll change that. Your knowledge of the MOS and guidelines is detailed and commendable. – Quadell (talk) 03:31, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hehe. I see that the other way around; "if I can remember stupid stuff like that, I don't have enough going on in my life". §hepTalk 03:35, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Socks
[edit]I blocked the Sleepydre socks that weren't already blocked except for two: the IP address and the sleeper (no contribs) - I am watching both. I can semi-protect the Akron article if you think that would help or if there is any sign of more suspected socks. Now that two sets of socks have shown up I can also act more quickly to block / protect, just let me know. Thanks for checking these, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Just out of curiousity more than anything. Is there a reason you didn't block 219? Thanks for the help, §hepTalk 03:17, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- I indef blocked the others - didn't want to indef block an IP, was waiting for another edit to block it for a week or so. I'll block the sleeper next. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:39, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for that. Always trying to glean info from admins when it coms to stuff like this. Never want to be an admin; looks a bit messy. But the process gets my attention for one reason or another. §hepTalk 03:43, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- My first edit here led to someone accusing me of being a sockpuppet, so I tend to be a bit hesitant to block for that, but this seems pretty clear (and they can always appeal it). Every situation is different, but if yet more Sleepydre socks show up for Akron I will semi-protect it and block as needed. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Never would have guessed that. I can understand some hesitancy after that. Thanks, §hepTalk 04:04, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Someone got the socks listed on the ANI page, I got the IP. Thanks for alerting me to that second IP. He's done playing for the next week. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:28, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I've been getting clobbered by an attention-craving moron who doesn't seem to like the fact that I won't let him play. On the other hand, I am very glad to help you. You made my day as well. Call on me anytime. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:31, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
I've removed the deletion template from the image, as the template only applies to copies, and they are different photographs of the same building. If you still think it should be deleted you can nominate it at WP:FFD. —Snigbrook 22:02, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- I could have sworn it was the exact picture, just scaled down. FFD it is, sorry about that. §hepTalk 22:03, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Betsy Boze
[edit]Sure I could help. What exactly did you have in mind? I think it definitely should be included since it has affected her career, but am unsure where to place it as the article reads much more like a promotional biography than an article (It would surprise me if she had a KSU employee write or edit it). I personally find the story somewhat hillarious and ironic as she actually e-mailed me a few months ago about the Kent State Stark Wikipedia article and would periodically edit it and her own article.
Also, thanks for all your efforts in the sockpuppet investigation. I have no idea how long this period of "peace" on the Akron article will last, but hopefully we can make some progress on it! --JonRidinger (talk) 00:42, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Talkback
[edit]You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I saw you removed the WHOIS links. I put them back, because they are _very_ useful for rooting out socks. I didn't quite understand your edit summary, what did you mean? Thanks and happy editing. Foxy Loxy Pounce! 10:00, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- I left comments on SPIs talk: regarding the change. The blacklist filter was not allowing the use of the template due to the links. §hepTalk 19:51, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Foxy Loxy Pounce! 23:46, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
March 2 Dispatch
[edit]Query here. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:44, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- I thought I had nixed the date. I just saw that it had the old template style and thought I'd try to be helpful and update it. I wasn't planning on dating it, I could have sworn after I put in the template that I removed the date...with a summary apologizing for the 3 or so consecutive edits. I think this is appropriate. Sorry again, §hepTalk 19:54, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- LOL :) No trouts needed! I'm just so far behind, I was afraid I missed something. No problem :) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:56, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit]To whom was this comment directed? cygnis insignis 21:52, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- It was direct to everyone who instantly jumped all over the project without even giving it a chance to notify the respective parties. It's directed to everyone who feels that a page can't last on Wikipedia for more than a week because they disagree with the name of the page. It's directed at anyone who thinks that the project shouldn't be given the chance to actually discuss how to make some changes that were discussed on IRC. Is there a problem with that? §hepTalk 21:56, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Please refrain from that sort of incivility, personal attacks and assumption of bad faith. And if you're going to tell people to fuck off, at least you should take the time to read their comments. Smearing people simply for disagreeing with you is not acceptable behaviour. Guettarda (talk) 01:18, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was not using that to drop the f-bomb on anybody. Please see Bugger off#Verb; specifically American English. (It meant "go away") I did read every comment before posting my ballot. Please assume that I wasn't smearing everbody. §hepTalk 01:19, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, even in American English it is known to derive from a highly offensive British English phrase, and, this is not American English wikipedia, but rather en.wiki, so using a phrase as over the top offensive as this one is grossly inappropriate. Please consider not using it. --KP Botany (talk) 01:50, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- And they begin to fall in like rain. I stated my intentions behind the word, where I come from it's used daily and not viewed as some over-the-top offensive word. If your opinion has changed of me fine, if it hasn't that's fine too. Would it have the same implications if I said "go away"? I doubt it, yet it has the same meaning this time around. As there's more than one English, variations should be more than acceptable. I don't tell you how to type, please don't tell me. §hepTalk 01:56, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't tell you how to type/keyboard. I suggested you consider not using the phrase for a very specific reason. I don't tell you what to do, so please don't tell me. I'm done here, though. --KP Botany (talk) 02:14, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

A-Class discussion
[edit]Shep: This is the posting I'm making on talk pages of people who signed up. Hi, we're starting the discussion on A-Class here today, thanks for signing up! I hope you can present your views. Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 07:47, 1 March 2009 (UTC) Thanks for all your help so far - I think we messed it up a bit, but hopefully we can get on with the job. The suggestion of an alternative location for the page is a good one, but hopefully we don't need to move things around. Cheers, Walkerma (talk) 07:50, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
