Hi Stephen

Regarding User:Fbaus: I don't disagree with your decision to block this user. I'm assuming your reason is that he did nothing but advertize FutureBrand. I think the notice you added may not be appropriate (Unless "Fbaus" has some obscene meaning I am not aware of). It may even encourage the user to come back under a new name and do the same thing. How would you feel about a different message? DJ Clayworth (talk) 16:07, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment. If I'm understanding you correctly (and I apologize if I'm not, as it's late here and I should go to bed), wouldn't the "meanings" be covered by the Wiktionary page? --Elonka 10:28, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate that landed on WP:100, but ultimately was deemed a successful declaration of consensus, and I am now an admin. :) I definitely paid close attention to everything that was said in the debate, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm going to take it slow for now -- I'm working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school, carefully investigating the admin tools and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thank you again for your participation, --Elonka 07:31, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please can you revert this, give it a stub tag if appropriate and give me a few weeks to flesh it out. It is a part of a big battle over aviation between the current UK government and the aviation industry on one side and, Coservatie party, environmentalists, 2 million locals, many NGOs and Ken Livingston the Mayor of London on the other. It links in with Flying Matters, Heathrow Airport and the future of air transport in the UK and other articles I intend to author. Thanks PeterIto (talk) 10:27, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have updated the article. I can see why it wasn't acceptable as it stood, hopefully it is better now (I have learn't a lot about authoring articles in the past week). There seem to be no citations at the bottom of the article, I guess that this is something to do with it being in my private area and not on the main wikipedia area so these are not tested yet. If it is ready for moving to be big world then I will check them all and correct the inevitable mistakes asap. Thanks. PeterIto (talk) 17:32, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks, I think I have now responded to your comments. I have also sectionalised the External Links to clarify where the different information is coming from, not sure if that is the best way of doing it, feel free to jump in a fix it or comment, as before, I am keen to get this live soon. You may (or may not) be interested in the broader discussions on on the theme of aviation expansion, protest and activism and how to organise this in Wikipedia. I am working with others on a range of articles; more details on my user page and I am also involved in a live discussion on how to present and segment the information across these different articles on talk:flying Matters, and more particularly on the appropriate level of campaigning detail for the Flying Matters article - input would be welcomed. I have also responding to criticism on the AirportWatch article (not all of which I have found particularly helpful). Personally I am now actually rather regretting getting starting on all this, but given that I have, I am now keen to complete the 'set' of related articles, with additinal ones on HACAN Clearshies, Plane Stupid and StopHeathrowExpansion. do please provide me with any thoughts on guidance on this if you can. Your block of User:Sikh scholar

[edit]

Morning, have no fear I'm not here to complain. Just bringing to your attention this as blocking admin. Somehow I've become embroiled in an edit war over the Singh article, I think they've assumed I'm a gurkha or something from my user name. I've fully protected the article, and I think these death threats are all part and parcel, if it goes much further I'm thinking about starting an RfC over the whole matter. Sikh Scholar

[edit]

Dear Stephen, I understand why you blocked Sikh scholar, but I would really appreciate if we all keep an eye on Harrybabbar who has been trying to provoke everyone since he began his vandalism of the Singh article. Sikh scholar is very knowledgable, however, in a moment of weakness he lost control, which I understand is the reason for the temporary block, however, when you read harrybabbar's statement to Sikh Scholar, looking at it from a culturally sensitive aspect, harrybabbar insulted Sikh's religious identity and beliefs (thats a bit too sensitive an issue in the subcontinent). Harrybabbar has thrown insults at me, many in fact (some are obvious, some you have to read between the lines) and has made threats towards me through innuendos (for example: "Let's meet for coffee" "You gurkhas are supposed to be brave" "Why don't you post your photo"), thus trying to provoke me to break wikipedia rules.

I guess what I am trying to say is that Sikh Scholar fell victim to Harrybabbar's tactics and I believe we should keep an eye on Harrybabbar in the future. I am sure Sikh Scholar realises his mistake already.

hi Stephan,

This is harrybabbar...i am new to Wikipedia, maybe thats why i got blocked by whole gang of anti Sikh Wikipedian like Sikh Scholar, Sikh Historian and Gurkhaboy (who claim to be sikh)...but anyways I wanted to thank you for your support on blocking (even if temporary) Sikh Scholar for his demeaning words to me....All the points I made to Gurkhaboy would have made any true Sikh swell with pride bcoz that is the truth…I do not understand the reason for both Sikhs (Scholars & Historians) outburst against me (all the 20 mails that I sent which Kingturtle say I send, they are not spam...i had just forwarded Sikh Scholars demeaning mail to all this 20 people and asking for support on the issue)..... and now that you have unblocked i can understand theyt have been very persuvasive and are all like mind people....Anyways I will give whole line of my communication between myself and gurkhaboy and Sikh scholar when my block expires...take care

Just a quick note, I never claimed to be a Sikh. Cheers, Gorkhali (talk) 17:59, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi AliveFreeHappy,

If you read my message to you properly you will see that Iam only addressing Sikh Scholar and Historian as Sikhs, see 3 rd line i quote...I do not understand the reason for both Sikhs (Scholars & Historians) outburst against me ....only on the 1st line i have included gurkhaboy name as Sikh Wikipedian (bcoz he is a part of it) I never said or assumed that he was a Sikh....anyway that is the way all this people have been playing with words and twisting and turning my statements and then getting me blocked all the time...anyways its for you to decide who is correct everything is in front of you . I till date have never insulted anyone or used unappropriate language) Yes I agree I was wrong in case of Khukri my mistake I accept (pls forward this message to Khukri also my request to you, bcoz iam new to wikipedia)...and I can never imagine a Gurkha as Sikh even in my dreams and i am more then glad to set the record straight... I have to use this anon account bcoz I have been blocked and its not that I am hiding myself I have identified myself and witten to you I hope you understand

It will be of great help if you can guide me how to go about dealing with this guys....
