The article James Whitworth has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unable to find sources online to establish WP:Notability. No more than passing mentions.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  --Joshua Scott (formerly LiberalFascist) 00:44, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article to establish notability. If you wish to create such an article, please confirm that your subject is notable according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. -- bydandtalk 20:42, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ralph Whitworth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, Steelcityman

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Mike1901, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I’ve proposed an article that you started, James Whitworth, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article. You may remove the deletion tag yourself once the article has at least one reliable source.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Mike1901}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Quick note I've withdrawn this as you did add some external links which could be construed as references - but please have a read of WP:REF which gives more detail on what references can be used and how these are formatted. Thanks! Mike1901 (talk) 13:51, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of James Whitworth

[edit]

Hello Steelcityman,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged James Whitworth for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

This page is not promotional. James Whitworth is a leading UK scholar and public figure. He is a well known writer and cartoonist. His work is published in many countries and is of interest to those who study visual history. Steelcityman (talk) 20:04, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
