Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at [[:Tennys Sandgren]], you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 01:05, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

  • No, they were not tagged by other users: some of them were tagged by a bot, because the articles were BLPs, and if you had taken the trouble to investigate, you would have found that all their edits had proper sourcing--at least the half dozen that I looked at. You didn't even revert them, and you didn't even talk to, let alone warn the editor. And in the case of Tennys Sandgren, you had no strong reason for removal: "The reliability of the sources in question doesn't make the information relevant to tennis", you said; if that's the case, you should probably discuss that on the talk page. But it was no BLP violation, and I also don't see why this information wouldn't be of relevant to an encyclopedic article--especially if you think this is. Drmies (talk) 01:16, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Okay, understood. I was not disputing the sourcing. Rather, I think the content is not consistent with the article guidelines from WP Tennis -- my mistake. I did not know where to raise this issue, but I can discuss it with the user.

Ref placement

Per Stefanos Tsitsipas article. I don't think it looks terrible after the score but I don't think it looks good either. I think it looks terrible after the tournament name. It really busies up the chart. We have no articles done this way but I believe we do have articles ref'd after the score. Actually, since every single ref comes from the same source...itftennis.com/procircuit/tournaments/men's-tournament/ I don't think we need to source the events individually. A note after the table of the general source location should be more than adequate. Fyunck(click) (talk) 06:59, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

The refs look like messed-up tiebreak scores that way; something like 7–6(7–4), 6–3[74] is definitely confusing.
The sources are for the individual tournament details. They are from the same website, but they all point to different pages.
I had originally left these links out, but Courcelles asked for them in the GA review.
I think it makes the most sense to put the links in the tournament column, given that they are links to the tournament itself and not just the final. If you don't like them there, they could also fit in the result column.
We do have GA articles with links in the tournament column; see Laura Robson.
They all point to different sources but the general link to the ITF is all we need. Remember also that the Challenger events have direct links right on the draw page so we don't have to go so far in linking them here. I think that tournament column is a bad place for the links. Tsitsipas doesn't have the problem yet but many players win events multiple times and after the tournament info we place a (2) or (3). A ref statement there will mess that up badly. Roger Federer's article would be a disaster in the tournament section. I think it would be much better in the result column but I'd have to see it first before passing judgement. I still think that a general statement/link of the ITF website is all that's needed. Fyunck(click) (talk) 07:38, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Listing Good Articles

Just a heads up, when you pass a GA, you're supposed to manually list it on Wikipedia:Good articles/Sports and recreation or other subpage, as applicable. Thanks for the reviews! Courcelles (talk) 05:38, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

Noted; I didn't realize. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 05:48, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
That's what I figured. You'd think we'd have a bot for that, wouldn't you? Courcelles (talk) 07:55, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I assumed. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 17:19, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

Naomi Osaka

You've change a ton of the prose in this article, and that's great. But you do not own the article. Others can also add things and the part you have removed has been there awhile and is part of her persona. In fact there was a HUGE discussion on it. She is being described in these terms by multiple sources, which are included. Do not just remove it. Enhance it if you like but those terms are important per herself and the press. Hi Sportsfan77777, I hope you are ok! Do you have any ideas when you might get to the GA for 2018 World Snooker Championship? Don't worry if you can't, but I would like to get a GA done whenever is convenient. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:56, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

GA Nomination: Lebanon national football team

Hi,

I have noticed that you have been active in nominating and reviewing sports articles for GA nominations; would it be possible for you to take a look at my Lebanon national football team article nomination if you had time?

Thanks, Nehme1499 (talk) 15:05, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Nehme1499, I'm focused on clearing out older GA nominations and/or articles closer to my areas of expertise, so I probably would not get to it for awhile. The best thing you can do is keep improving the article. You are more likely to attract a reviewer if they think they have relatively little to do as part of the review. As a start, you can keep working on the sourcing. As a minimum, the end of every paragraph should have a source. Most paragraphs should have a source every one or two sentences if the sources are just news articles or game statistics (because every fact in the prose needs to be cited). Also, you might have better luck asking Kosack for help. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 00:46, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for your help; I'll try to improve the article as much as possible. I'll also try contacting Kosack as well. By the way, should I also source everything in the lead? Everything written there is already present in the body and already sourced. Nehme1499 (talk) 00:48, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
It's fine if the lead isn't sourced (see WP:CITELEAD). You can also check out other national team articles that have been recently promoted to GAs to get ideas for how to structure the article. (see for instance, Andorra's national team at the time the article was promoted) Sportsfan77777 (talk) 00:59, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
