Michael Weisser moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Michael Weisser, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Spoonks! Your additions to Oliver Markus Malloy have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Signed,The4lines |||| (Talk) (Contributions) 17:14, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

- Hey, I saw you've already submitted it to AfC. I hate to say this, and I'm not an AfC reviewer, but in its current state it is very unlikely to pass review. Try to find more sources regarding the album. To establish notability, you need to find significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. It's also possible there just hasn't been enough written about this album to warrant an encyclopedia article. The notability guidelines are there to make sure there's enough material to write a thorough, verifiable, and neutral article about it; see what Wikipedia is not.
- The one reference you've used so far has lots of neat information (it's a good read) but isn't really independent of the subject since it's part of bandcamp, which is selling the album and therefore can be expected to have a promotional motive. I'm not saying I don't believe Annie Zaleski, but she has a conflict of interest. Wikipedia really wants to be neutral (see WP:NPOV); promotional spam is a persistent issue that undermines trust in the project, so we really want to be basing articles on indepedent sources. This review at Pitchfork is good. A couple more will probably suffice for notability. (See also the music-specific notability guidelines.)
- Maybe Digital Dance doesn't have enough coverage to pass AfC review. Maybe the album won't get its own article on Wikipedia, and fans will have to find it on Discogs. But whether or not that happens, there's an article for the band, Software (band), and it would be good to expand that article with material from Annie Zaleski's feature at bandcamp and the Pitchfork review. I would appreciate that a lot. – Anon423 (talk) 00:48, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- I found another couple mentions: Opus Zine by Jason Morehead; unfortunately it seems self-published. If you can read German this seems usable though: hhvmag review by Pippo Kuhzart. And I managed to turn up a short newspaper review from 1989, in the Lincoln Journal Star, Thusrday, November 23, page 84. Sources can be hard to find and you'll have to put in the writing work, but you might pull this off. – Anon423 (talk) 01:30, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- Also, I've been listening to the album, and I'm a fan. – Anon423 (talk) 00:51, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ivana Knöll
[edit]A tag has been placed on Ivana Knöll, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It is an "attack page" or an unsourced biography of a living person that is entirely negative in tone. (See section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
Do not create pages that attack, threaten, or disparage their subject or any other entity, or articles about living people that are entirely negative and unsourced. Attack pages, attack files and negative unreferenced BLPs are not tolerated by Wikipedia, and users who create or add such material may be blocked from editing - It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of https://biographyon.com/ivana-knoll/. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Ivana Knöll, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ivana Knöll.

The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
