[edit]Disambiguation link notification for January 23
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tomislav Zografski, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Macedonia (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]Thanks for making Lineage B.1.617. This article got about 200k pageviews in the past 30 days, which is extraordinary for a word and concept which practically no one would call by its name. I suppose I could post on the talk page there, but since you have insight, are you aware of a common name for this concept considering that it is now part of common conversation? Is it the "Indian variant" or similar? Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:54, 25 May 2021 (UTC) |
Can we create a page for Pango Lineage B.1.617?
[edit]Hi SpookiePuppy, I am not too good at how to start a new article. I wanted to know if you think we should have a base article called "Pango Lineage B.1.617" that speaks about all three currently know sub-variants?
- @Liquefier: Thanks for the suggestion. I suppose this is partially a question about the remaining material which needs splitting off from the original Lineage B.1.617 article. As you will know, the main lineage (B.1.617) and variants/sublineages are in a state of flux to say the least. So I don't see any reason why we can't have a general page about the main lineage and your proposed title: "Pango Lineage B.1.617" would be a good way to distinguish it. I would take this opportunity to create the article yourself, an editor has to start somewhere. One way to start it is to locate your own user sandbox (ensure you are logged in). Then in the top address which should look something like "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User" followed by your "username/sandbox" add a forward slash "/" and type your proposed title for the page. As a general rule, article titles should be in "sentence case", not title case, so only the first word would be capitalised, unless it's a proper names. WP:NCCAPS So the second word would not be capitalised and your proposed title would therefore be "Pango lineage B.1.617". However, I am sure you already know that "PANGO" is short for "PANGOLIN" (Phylogenetic Assignment of Named Global Outbreak Lineages). So perhaps the "PANGO" should be in capital letters? So the final result would be "PANGO lineage B.1.617". But also check out: "Acronyms_in_page_titles"[1]. Going back to you sandbox, when you enter the full HTML line in your browser, Wikipedia should ask you whether you want to create that page. But there are other ways. You could start a new draft article in the draft space WP:DRAFT. Draft articles have "Draft:" (without the quotes) before the article title. The full address you would input to create your draft would look something like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:PANGO_lineage_B.1.617 The advantage of creating a draft like this is that you could invite other editors to help out and keep a watchful eye on it. I hope this helps. I would urge you to take the plunge and create the draft and start working on it. Hopefully people will come to help, as there is a need for pages which help disentangle the parent lineage from the evolving sublineages. Feel free to reply here on my talk page with any further questions. SpookiePuppy (talk) 00:41, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm TJRC. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, List of classical music competitions, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. TJRC (talk) 20:42, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- @TJRC: You were right to revert my additions. I was getting a bit lazy there, and relying on the blue link too much. I have been trying to find a suitable reference for the Malta International Composition Competition but keep hitting the same brick wall - the problem seems to be that the competition probably now has a different name, or that the name has evolved. It seems that the competition name may have changed along with the focus of the composition rubric, for example, the "Malta International String Orchestra Composition Competition", or the "Malta International Music Competition" (with a composition category), and more recently, "Malta International Composition Competition for String Quartet 2021". I believe these are all the same fundamental competition, but it's very confusing and very difficult to source especially with the competition name as it is currently worded. I appreciate you thanking me for my edit when I re-added the Masterprize competition with the 2 references. I will try and help out with adding reliable sources to the list. [edit]Since you recently participated in the Charles III requested move discussion, I thought you might like to know that there are two other discussions currently going on about other British monarch article titles here and here. Cheers. Rreagan007 (talk) 22:28, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for letting me know (again). I note that the survey (now proposed move) of George I of Great Britain is the inverse situation to the Charles III proposed move, but the Elizabeth II is similar to the Charles the III proposed move, but the net is being cast much wider. What a nightmare. I never dreamt something like this could literally find itself on or in quicksand. SpookiePuppy (talk) 22:40, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

Bill Carmody Draft
[edit]Hi! I see you are a member of WikiProject Law. I am seeking feedback on a draft I created about trial attorney Bill Carmody, of Susman Godfrey, who has been profiled in the press several times because of the size and prominence of his cases. I have explained more here: User talk:Backyard116/sandbox/Bill Carmody/Seeking feedback. He’s a personal connection of mine, so impartial advice on notability and neutral point of view would be greatly appreciated. Backyard116 (talk) 16:14, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi - I'm currently writing a German article for the DE Wiki based on your English article. I've noticed on the website that the authorities seem to have merged... There's a big disclaimer right away. But the qestion is now - IF it need a new article National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy or is it enougth to update the old one?!? For me looks like that hungary have updated this article and the WikidataObjekt Q23892527. But for me it looks more that it need his own DataObjekt.. How did you see it?! Calle Cool (talk) 07:23, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there, thanks for your message. I am pleased that you will be drafting a German language article for this public health body in Hungary. The name-change of the equivalent page in Hungarian to "Nemzeti Népegészségügyi és Gyógyszerészeti Központ" does present a minor dilemma. It seems to be this word "Gyógyszerészeti", that expands the description. This has also caused a change to the acronym being used from "NNK" to "NNGYK". The fact that the Wikidata object names have been amended suggests to me that the way forward is for editors to try and keep things unified, as much as possible. This would require a renaming of the English article, (this would be achieved via a page move) from National Public Health Centre to National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy. A page move is normally proposed on the talk page of the article to be moved and given a period of time, I think 7 days for other editors to respond. Such a page move would probably be "uncontroversial" so I could just make the move and see what happens. The English page has only ever had a single editor-author, so this might help. I just checked the history for the Hungarian language page and the article was moved on 5th December. I would feel free to go ahead with drafting the German language article using the new updated name that includes the word "Pharmacy", so presumably something like: "Zentrum für Gesundheitswesen und Pharmazie"? I will try to move the English page to "National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy" and then start amending the body of the article to update it. I hope this helps. SpookiePuppy (talk) 21:58, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Update: I've moved the page to National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy and edited the body of the page as necessary. I've also corrected several pages that link to it. I've provided as many new sources as I could find to support the changes. SpookiePuppy (talk) 23:36, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
