Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, SpartyParty! I am N2e and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions check out Wikipedia:Questions, or feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. Again, welcome!

Mentoring?
[edit]Hi SpartyParty. I am N2e, your Wikipedia online mentor for your class in telecommunications policy. I am happy to help in most any way, short of writing for you. Just ask.
One comment. It appears you are using your Talk page as a place to work on drafts of the article, or parts of the article, that you might (in the future) add to the mainspace Spectrum auctions article. My recommendation is to do your draft work in a sandbox rather than on your Talk page. That way, it leaves your Talk page available exclusively for your communication with other editors.
To start a sandbox, just click on WP:Sandbox, then click on the words create a user subpage in the third paragraph. If you want any help on how to do this, just ping me on my Talk page. Cheers. N2e (talk) 13:49, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- There is now a helpful link, above, that will make it even simpler to create a sandbox page. Just look for: "Click here to create your sandbox" ...

Posting Photos
[edit](copied from N2e's Talk page to hold the discussion here)
Hey [N2e], sorry I havent communicated with you about the Spectrum Auction project. Currently, we have an assignment where we have to do random edits on other wiki pages. I chose to update some things about the cast of The Cosby Show but I cant figure out how to add a picture to the biography section (the long box on the right hand side of the pages). I saw the code from the page on the actual show but I dont know how to get the photos to show up on the page Im doing. I would appreciate any help, thanks.

- Hi Letia. It is good to hear from you. To your specific question, let me say a couple of things. First off, I'm not an expert on adding photos to the Wikipedia and Wikimedia foundation projects. If you want, I can definitely find you someone to help who knows a lot more than me. Second, as a brand new editor of Wikipedia, I would suggest you not start with editing Wikipedia by adding photos. While you are certainly free to do so, it is a somewhat complicated process that has many obstacles and legalities that can make adding your first few photos (i.e., while you are "learning the ropes") a bit difficult. Copyright, "fair use" exemptions, rules for posting one's own photos, etc. can be a bit daunting at first. Third, if you decide you really want to do photos right now, just say so and I'll offer more pointed help, and provide you a link to find a image-related mentor should my simple help not be sufficient.
- In the meantime, I recommend you make your "random edits on other wiki pages" textually, in prose. I think you will find "learning the ropes" of Wikipedia much more straightforward with this (initial) limitation. I'll have more to say about that in the next 24 hours. Cheers.
