⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Retired from Sad, New Career in Business.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:55, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:18, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ta13oo

[edit]

Hi SpaceSong, would you say this Pitchfork review is explicitly and directly attributing the SoundCloud rap genre to the Ta13oo album as a whole please? The end of the review confuses me, thanks. Theo Mandela (talk) 01:12, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Theo Mandela: Hi! “The South Florida rapper carves out his own lane within the genre known as SoundCloud rap” sounds attributable to the whole album, but the end of the review seems like it contradicts that statement, so not so sure about that. If you ask me, hip hop and trap should be enough for the infobox, if you find a source for the latter. — SpaceSong (talk) 01:33, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I thought the same about the review, but I'll have to remove hip hop from the infobox (at least for now) because it's using this review as the source. Thanks for the reply, Theo Mandela (talk) 14:21, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Theo Mandela: No problem. Just added a source for hip hop. — SpaceSong (talk) 15:05, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Applicability of MOS:DONTHIDE to bonus tracks

[edit]

I noticed that in your edit to the article, you manually reverted my edit. Your edit summary states that "this does not apply to track listings of deluxe editions", "this" presumably being MOS:DONTHIDE. Where is that stated? I have checked MOS:MUSIC and elsewhere, but found nothing relevant to this situation. It seems to me that MOS:DONTHIDE is applicable here, as the documentation (permanent link) for {{Track listing}} also supports, which considers the parameter to be deprecated for accessibility reasons and strongly discouraged for use in the mainspace. I do not typically edit music-related articles, however, so perhaps you can inform me here. If it is not, then I will remember that for the future. Thank you. —Nøkkenbuer (talkcontribs) 12:00, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nøkkenbuer: Hey. I couldn't find where this is specifically stated, but every single album article that contains a track listing in addition to the standard one appears in collapsed form, so Cut 4 Me shouldn't be an exception. I'm assuming this is most likely to avoid bloated pages when unnecessary, as it is not the primary track listing discussed in the articles. Perhaps asking an admin or something would give a more definite answer?
Come to think of it, I do recall seeing this convention frequently on music-related articles. This may be an instance of local consensus (that may also be implicit) which violates established consensus within the larger community, namely local consensus for collapsing tables of bonus tracks and larger community consensus that this is an accessibility problem that should be avoided. Although I still recommend adhering to the latter larger consensus, I definitely sympathize with your consistency concerns regarding this local consensus.
I will be creating a new section at WT:MOS about this to get further input from the community and, if determined to be the case, perhaps specify somewhere in MOS:MUSIC that MOS:DONTHIDE applies even for tables of bonus tracks. Thanks for your time. —Nøkkenbuer (talkcontribs) 17:13, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Santogold

[edit]

You did this change on 3 August 2018, transforming this sentence from the lead as a note below the tracklisting. as you don't have any wp:consensus, there won't be any change. The sentence stays in the content of the article; it used to be in the lead, I did a compromise moving it in the "recording, development" section. Woovee (talk) 16:52, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Woovee: Why is putting this information under the 'track listing' section not as satisfying to you as putting it in a prose under the 'recording and development' section? Both are equally sections of article content, and that particular sentence fits better in the track listing section as it addressed interpolation credits. See Reputation (Taylor Swift album), Views (album), All for You (Janet Jackson album), 24K Magic (album), and Invasion of Privacy (album) for instance, these article also list the interpolation credits under the notes of the track listing. — sᴘᴀᴄᴇsᴏɴɢ • ᴛᴀʟᴋ 17:02, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion on Negro Swan Article

[edit]

I was thinking that the Category:Albums produced by Steve Lacy link shouldn't be applied to that album initially, however, on other articles, such as Flower Boy, where he also was only a feature, while still playing instruments (Steve plays guitar on a track on that album too), the category link was added, so I felt it should be consistent.

I don't know who added the links to the other articles, but I'll remove them then. Bmegrl9113 (talk) 01:47, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Karin is associated with Fever Ray

[edit]

See link where Karin introduces members of her band for Fever Ray tour http://mute.com/mute/reveals-live-band-members-in-new-idk-about-you-video so I would think saying Karin is associated with Fever Ray is not any weirder than saying she is associated with Honey Is Cool or The Knife? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Regularuk (talkcontribs) 14:32, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Regularuk: Fever Ray is an alias of Karin Dreijer. They're the same artist with the same Wikipedia page. Honey Is Cool and The Knife are bands in which she was a member of. The band she introduced are her backing live band, which every musician has. — sᴘᴀᴄᴇsᴏɴɢ • ᴛᴀʟᴋ 14:35, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SpaceSong, hoping you can help, I'm unsure about which genre(s) exactly Billboard is calling "Sicko Mode" when they say it broke "the mold of what a rap-turned-pop record should sound like" (out of pop-rap, hip hop or/and pop).
And whether either of these statements is definitive in calling the song hip hop:

  • "Meyers used his expertise behind the camera -- which has graced many of the 21st century's most iconic hip-hop videos"
  • "It's going to be interesting to see the impact the now multi-platinum certified "SICKO MODE" has on creativity and song structure in hip-hop going forward."

It's also called experimental near the top of the article, but this was explicit. Thanks, Theo Mandela (talk) 05:57, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the first quote doesn't explicitly state a genre, so it wouldn't sufficient as a citation for either genre, but the latter two statements are surely explicit enough for hip hop. — sᴘᴀᴄᴇsᴏɴɢ • ᴛᴀʟᴋ 11:56, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot, I've made the changes to the infobox :) Theo Mandela (talk) 22:51, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. But 'experimental' is used as an adjective rather than as a genre in that article. It is obviously not an experimental song; maybe experimental hip hop, but you would need a reliable source that explicitly calls it so for that. I'd say just hip hop is enough for the infobox, and further details regarding the song musically could be made a in a 'composition' section. x — sᴘᴀᴄᴇsᴏɴɢ • ᴛᴀʟᴋ 17:15, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SpaceSong. First of all, "deep house" sourced for the song genre, but Billboard called the song "disco" shortened for "Discotheque" which redirected to "Nightclub", a place where dancing, rather than a disco genre. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2402:1980:824A:3EE0:F0CA:6EAD:9FD2:BD1C (talk) 18:34, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
