[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a social network. Wikipedia is not a place to socialize or write things that are not directly related to improving the encyclopedia. Off-topic material may be deleted at any time. We're sorry if this message has discouraged you from editing here, but the ultimate goal of this website is to build an encyclopedia. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 08:30, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Welcome!
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, Sonwabiso Pongoshe, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.
Did you know that ...
- ...Wikipedia has a very stringent image use policy?
- ...most images from Flickr, online news websites, and other web sources are copyrighted?
- ...Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously?
- ...freely-licensed images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a central location for images where they can be used on all Wikipedia projects?
- ...we recommend that new users use our "files for upload" process – at least until you get the hang of things?
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}}

[edit]See WP:UP for guidelines on what does and does not belong on a User page. It is not a place to create a page about oneself and ones family, as you have begun to do. I recommend that you delete all personal information. Instead, have a few sentences about what your intentions are as a Wikipedia editor. David notMD (talk) 12:15, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- ColinFine gave excellent advice at Teahouse, in response to your second query. David notMD (talk) 12:20, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
So what specifically does a user page need to have that isn't inappropriate?🤷🏾♂️ Sonwabiso Pongoshe (talk) 17:50, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- It doesn't NEED to have anything but the content should relate to your Wikipedia contributions not your personal life see WP:USERPAGE for more help. Theroadislong (talk) 18:24, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- If you still need the information it is here.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 23:06, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
