As another question, can you say more about how you are getting hold of the information. For example, do you have a list of political parties by country in their native names? Are you just creating stubs for the political parties in that country, or are you creating stubs for all political parties in the stubs you have? - FrancisTyers · 14:52, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

My intention is to build up a database, and creating articles in all wikipedias that I have the translations for. A second step in this process will be to request translations of names used in names of political parties. --Soman 15:17, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

I just saw your first go, at tg:Solomon Islands Labour Party. Not bad :) Some suggestions (which you are probably already working on):

1. About the names of countries, you can find some tg:Африка (Africa), tg:Осиё (Asia), tg:Уқёнусия (Australasia) etc. If you want I can make a list of correspondenses (English -> Tajik).
2. About the name of the organisation, we moved it to: Ҳизби Меҳнати Ҷазираҳои Соломон where Ҷазираҳои Соломон means "Soloman Islands" (or rather Islands Solomon). Would it be possible to perform basic letter-for-letter transliteration on any non-translated proper names? e.g. "Joses Tuhanuku" to "Ёсес Тухануку (Joses Tuhanuku)"  ? The Cyrillic isn't right, as you'll see below, but it is more readable.
3. Could you link more words?

Thanks a lot. The Solomon Islands party was used mainly as a test. However, there will not be any possibility to translitterate proper names to Cyrillic. That has to be done by hand. --Soman 14:20, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Another request, seeing as you have the native names of the parties, would it be possible to put them in parentheses after the name? Possibly (wishlist!) with the following: {{забон- |NATIVE NAME HERE}}. Of course, having the two letter ISO 639 code [transliterated into Cyrillic] would be great too, but don't sweat if you can't do it :) - FrancisTyers · 16:19, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Question

Why is it "communist party" while all the others are "nationalist political party"? Seems a bit POV to me (especially as a communist party is defined as a political party which promotes communism) Sam Vimes 13:49, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

The distinction is a bit arbitrary, but one reason is that 'communist party' has separate wikiarticle with definition of what a CP is (which is not just concerning the ideals of the party, but also an organizational set-up, etc.). --Soman 14:44, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
