File permission problem with File:Paul Levine.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Paul Levine.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Blurred Lines 14:03, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Author Paul Levine.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Author Paul Levine.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]A tag has been placed on File:Paul Levine in his study.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. [edit] Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. No more links to Paul Levine please. This is considered citation spamming. Thank you.

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Solomonandlord. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Good job
[edit]Excellent work on forming those citations. They really improve the article don't they? If you're up to it, you might try the third point in my comment on the article's talk page about adding the Infobox writer template. (I consider the first two points as already covered now). You don't have to do this as it is an elective but if you should decide that it would be an improvement then I would encourage you to give it a try. Try looking at the author's infobox on the right side in this article as an example.
If you decide that you want the infobox but have trouble implementing it then let me know and I'll help you. I'm also going to leave you a welcome below with a collection of links to help you navigate Wikipedia. You show excellent promise for being an editor here so I would encourage you to edit and write articles for the pleasure of it rather than just those that fall within your professional scope. I believe you might find enjoyment in that as well as being able to share your editing contributions with others.

[edit]Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Fictional crossover. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Don't use Wikipedia to advertise people's books. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:36, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
Seeking assistance editing, shortening, removing puffery
[edit]I have a disclosed COI as I am the subject of this article. I have suggestions for editing, shortening, removing puffery and otherwise cleaning up the article. I would prefer not to do this on my own, even with the disclosed COI. Is there a Wikipedia editor out there who might assist? Thank you. Solomonandlord (talk) 18:22, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Solomonandlord
Comment re Recent Edits
[edit]@Orangemike and Joseph2302: Thanks for quick, efficient surgery on article. My only comment is that under "External Links," the Internet Book Database URL isn't working. Correct URL is: http://www.iblist.com/author15277.htm The information there is a bit stale but is nonetheless accurate. I don't know the protocol here, so I assume it's okay for me to make these comments as edits are made to the article. If I'm incorrect, please alert me. It pains me to say this, but the trimmed-down article actually reads better than the puffy, inflated one. Solomonandlord (talk) 16:41, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Solomonandlord
Suggestion for "Citation Needed
[edit]@Orangemike and Joseph2302: The re-do has a "Citation needed" following the second sentence in "Books" regarding a film produced by Stephen J. Cannell. That source can be found at IMDB. Precise URL is here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113454/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm If you scroll down the page, you'll see the listing of Stephen J. Cannell as executive producer of the 1995 TV movie, "Jake Lassiter: Justice on the Bayou." Additionally, a "better footnote" is sought for number 8. There are many from which to choose about writing 21 teleplays for "JAG." First, the Amazon Author Bio (scroll down left side of page to near the bottom): http://www.amazon.com/Paul-Levine/e/B000APPYKG Secondly, here is the Goodreads Author Bio: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/88535.Paul_Levine This article on the Penn State Website reflects that Levine wrote "more than 20" episodes of JAG. http://news.psu.edu/story/205274/2006/02/20/q-alumnus-levine-pens-new-book-solomon-vs-lord-series Similarly, this article in The Harvard Square Edition uses the "more than 20" number. http://litvote.com/interview-with-paul-levine-ny-times-bestselling-author-and-producerscreenwriter/ As does this article from 20 Something Reads: http://www.20somethingreads.com/authors/paul-levine Solomonandlord (talk) 18:57, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Solomonandlord
- IMDb is not a reliable source. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:19, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
@Joseph2302: I didn't know that regarding IMDB. Here's what should be a solid reference. Newcomb, Horace, Encyclopedia of Television (2004), p. 446 You can find that page in Google Books. (Look at right hand column, Made for Television Movies, 1995) https://books.google.com/books?id=JUzIAgAAQBAJ&pg=PA446&dq=Encyclopedia+of+television+and+Jake+Lassiter&hl=en&sa=X&ei=GQmCVc_zOsjRsAWT7oDAAw&ved=0CDAQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=Encyclopedia%20of%20television%20and%20Jake%20Lassiter&f=false As a sidelight, the book is available for $700 on Amazon. There's also a reference to Steve Cannell producing the 1995 TV movie on the Cannell website, here: http://www.cannell.com/tv-show-detail/25/jake-lassiter-justice-on-the-bayou.html
