Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, SofaBurn Intern. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:SofaBurn Records, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 21:06, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You need to put something on your user page indicating that you are an intern at SofaBurn Records. Thanks.--- Possibly (talk) 23:16, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the information, I will add that I am an Intern at SofaBurn on my user page. I'm not trying to advertise or promote, our label head had just asked me to create this article since the label did not have one. He felt that it was important, and I'm just trying to get it done. Thanks again for the information! SofaBurn Intern (talk) 23:47, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:SofaBurn Records, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:34, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please inform your label head that he put you in an impossible situation. Wikipedia only includes articles about companies that meet its notability criteria, which are satisfied by demonstrating in-depth coverage from reliable sources that are independent of the company. We have no interest in what companies wish to say about themselves, and we don't create articles at the behest of their subjects. We don't care if a company thinks it's important; the question is, did enough other people outside of the company, with no vested interest in it, think that it was important enough to write about in-depth?

In addition, your account name represents a position within a company, which is not allowed by Wikipedia's username policy. A position can be occupied by more than one person over time. Your username must represent you as an individual. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 03:20, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your informative response. This is all information I was unable to find myself or at least I misunderstood in the process, and clears things up. Thanks again SofaBurn Intern (talk) 03:27, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. If you are interested in becoming an individual Wikipedia editor, contributing to topic areas outside of your conflict of interest, you can follow the rename/unblock procedure in the above notice. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 13:42, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Restoring the draft was a problematic offer made in good faith, but without the required experience. This is not going to happen. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 02:17, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am DXLB and I saw your draft getting removed. I would say that due to it getting removed. I will help you make a Neutral-POV version. If you do accept then I will help you and I will try to make it so it would not be deleted. DXLB and LokiBlaster 18:49, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion for Reopening Draft_talk:SofaBurn_Records This is a good time to discuss the reopening and see if we can get a Neutral POV DXLB and LokiBlaster 19:04, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, that would be incredibly helpful! I would really appreciate that. SofaBurn Intern (talk) 22:02, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Original heading: "Reopen With Neutral POV"

This might be removed but this article could be reopened as a neutral article, this is a company after all and forgetting about this could just not work in the long run. Can we reopen this page? DXLB and LokiBlaster 19:01, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
