Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to Tiger Stadium (LSU). If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. Alansohn (talk) 13:24, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

This is not vandalism. You check http://www.epinions.com/review/sprt-Venues-Tiger_Stadium_LSU/content_37889674884 . Tiger Stadium is known as both "Death valley" and "Deaf valley". Although my information is somewhat wrong, it cannot be considered as vandalism since it was done in good faith. Thanks. Soewinhan (talk)

IP block exempt

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Daniel Case (talk) 14:18, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi there Ko Soe Win Han,

Your recent edits to the Burmese language article involved a conversion of Unicode text (in Burmese) to pseudo-Unicode (Zawgyi), which is not an accepted standard on Wikipedia. I have reversed them. For more information, please see:

Thanks,

Hintha (talk) 09:44, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello hybernator, please give reasons for your revert at Burmese Language. Thanks. Soewinhan (talk) 14:09, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I reverted your changes for the same reason given by Hintha. Hybernator (talk) 14:53, 10 July 2010 (UTC) Thanks.

Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:38, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Maha Thiha Thura

Thanks for your contributions. It's really great to have another Burmese contributor. This is one of many on my to-do list so it's great that you've done the bulk of the work. One thing: I don't believe the elite Manchu troops were involved until the Third invasion. Can you check your source? As far as I know, the first two invasions were carried out by Yunnan-based Han Chinese Green Standard troops. Not the Manchus. Anyway, keep up the good work. Hybernator (talk) 02:38, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

I don't have access to the full JSTOR article. (I'll probably have to join as a member.) If you have it, and are able to post it, please do. You should look at Thant Myint-U's "River of Lost Footsteps" or Harvey's "History of Burma" for more detailed accounts of 3rd and 4th invasions. According to Htin Aung, Harvey and Myint-U, the first two invasions were by the Green Standard troops and the last two by the elite Manchu ones. I'll try to help out with the articles (Maha Thiha Thura and Hsinbyushin). Hybernator (talk) 03:56, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Re: Qianlong

Thanks for your detailed message. I had read some other sources as well, and think you are indeed trying to give great explainations. Yes, the Burma sent multiple missions to China after the excellent plot by the Gengma ruler (which faked both parties), but China and Burma considered or interpreted these missions differently. China believed they were tributary missions, and that was why Qianlong regarded the campaign as his victory, and was considered one of his Ten Great Campaigns. But the Burmese only considered them as representation of friendships between China and Burma, not tributary relationships. This I believe will explain everything that really happened. --Wengier (talk) 18:25, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Battle of Goteik Gorge

Hi, could you confirm that the date of the battle was 19 February 1768? I can't find anywhere in the citations. Based on my research, it probably took place in November or December 1767. According to Hall, (http://missions.itu.int/~myanmar/Burma/bur_history.pdf), Mingrui's army reached Singu in February. So, the battle must have taken place much earlier. File:Third Qing Burmese war.PNG

Hello, thanks for making the map. It really helps enliven the article. One thing: Siam as shown along today's border should be changed to reflect what it was at the time. During the war, the Burmese controlled all of the present-day northern Thailand and Laos. Thanks. Hybernator (talk) 03:19, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Done. Soewinhan (talk) 04:18, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

One more thing: Kaungton is just south of Bhamo. Your current location of Bhamo in the map is correct. Kaungton needs to be moved down. Thanks. Hybernator (talk) 13:55, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Hello Soewinhan. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Tan Kok Liang, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There's enough there for A7, but probably not enough for the GNG/BLP1E etc. I'll take to AfD. License tagging for File:Mesolithic blade in Shinma-daung Area Central Myanmar.png.png

Thanks for uploading File:Mesolithic blade in Shinma-daung Area Central Myanmar.png.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:05, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

File source problem with File:East Asia in 18 century.PNG

Thank you for uploading File:East Asia in 18 century.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:40, 21 January 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NW (Talk) 20:40, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Please refrain from deleting important sections from the article, especially regarding the post-independance era. Please refrain from pushing overtly political messages in the article. If you want to include political messages, you can use Foreign Relations and Military section in Burma. Myanmar Armed Forces page is a Military article and it should focus on Military history, formation and doctrine according to Wikipedia policy. You can include allegations of Human Rights abuses in a section provided that all are properly cross referenced and verifiable facts according to Wikipedia policy. File permission problem with File:Bayinnaung.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Bayinnaung.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (Talk) 23:18, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi Soewinhan! Haven't seen you for some time. I probably should apologize because I should have tried to help you regarding the sock-puppet case. Unfortunately I was away from Wikipedia during at time and when I came back the case was already over, although I was also glad to see the successful defending against the claim. A favor, if you would

I'm just about 100% sure this image is a copyvio; the uploader has a long history of image copyright issues on en.wiki (hasn't edited here since February), and Zoya isn't someone who's likely to be sighted anywhere near Burma at the moment, if you know what I mean. As my foreign language of choice is Japanese, not Burmese, I can't be 100% sure, but I've already tagged another image he uploaded to commons as a copyvio; any chance you could take a look at this? Thanks a ton. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 20:58, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Yes, that's a copyvio. I found it on telegraph website. This one is also a copyvio since it is used without fair use rationale. In fact, many many images from Burmese Wikipedia are copyvio. The contributors there, despite their good faiths, do not understand much about copyright.SWH® talk 05:12, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I figured as much; I was involved in cleaning up from the IEP fiasco, it seems to be a theme with south and southeast Asian countries. Even here an en.wiki, a disproportionate number of editors at CCI are from that general demographic. Thanks again. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 19:00, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Konbaung maps

Hi, I answered your question on my talk page. Now, it's my turn to ask you for help. When you get a chance, could you draw the political maps of Konbaung Dynasty? I'd like at least two.

  1. Prior to the First Anglo-Burmese war. It'll include the present-day Burma, Manipur, Assam, and southern Yunnan.
  2. British annexation of Burma per Anglo-Burmese War. Please include the years. Also include the annexation of Karenni States in 1875. The cis-Salween Shan states were annexed in 1888; trans-Salween Shan states in 1890. Chin state in 1896.

If you really have time...

  1. Burma in late 1767. Include present-day Burma except Arakan, Laos, southern Yunnan, Lan Na, and Siam. The Siam part should have a different color since Hsinbyushin never had full control over it. Thanks. Hybernator (talk) 00:48, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your reply. However, I really do not have enough time right now. I'm fed up with the exams. I'll try to draw the maps next month. I'll try my best. SWH® talk 13:50, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Info box collage for 8888 Uprising.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Info box collage for 8888 Uprising.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Shwebomin

While I agree with you that noble titles and honourifics do not belong in article titles and that including any "crown prince" status of Shwebomin in the article title would violate neutrality, since that status is contested in the article text. Tennis article discussion

Because you and others were instrumental in forming our current tennis guidelines on seasonal articles for special players, I though you might be interested in the re-visit being discussed at talk:projectTennis. Currently, because of input from that 2011 discussion, any singles player skilled enough to win a grand slam tournament is allowed continuous seasonal articles. No grand slam tournament win, no season article. A grand slam tournament win in 2012 allows seasonal articles in 2013 and 2014 whether or not more grand slam tournaments were won. I was against these articles, but even I have to admit it has worked reasonably well and there really haven't been all that many articles made. A recent deletion of the 2013 Maria Sharapova tennis season has brought this to the forefront once again and we at Tennis Project are trying to decide if we leave things as they are or narrow the parameters in several different ways. We could use more input (whether your views have changed or not). I gave the old discussion link so you can see your original thoughts, but all those who gave their view before are being invited to discuss. Thanks. File permission problem with File:Rohingya burning of Rakhine village.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Rohingya burning of Rakhine village.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.

You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. LX (talk, contribs) 10:47, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Myitsone Dam

Hi Soewinhan,

I made a couple of points on the talk page of Myitsone Dam a while back – one on 19 February last year following our exchange that month (that 19 Feb post links to my sandbox where I've highlighted additional stats in bold), and another subsequently about China not in fact being the primary market for electricity generated by the dam. If you're able to, I wonder if you'd have time to have a look at these? As stated previously, I have a COI in that I am a PR representative and China Power Investment Corporation is my client, so I can't make edits directly. Many thanks. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
