Speedy deletion nomination of Overdrive Orchestra
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Overdrive Orchestra requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 10:36, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi Snoboarder4391
[edit]Hi. Thanks for contribution of the article Overdrive Orchestra. After looking into it a bit, here's what I think.
- I think they're probably a good band. I haven't heard them, but combining the descriptions with the lyrics to "A Study In Anguish", which are pretty good, I imagine them in my head as a good band.
- However, being good and dime will get you a cup of coffee on Wikipedia. We don't care about quality, just fame. (It has to be that way, of course, because otherwise we would never stop arguing about who is "good".)
- Based on the fact that they're not on an important label and don't seem to have any writeups in any important publication, there is no chance that this article will not be deleted, in my opinion.
Well. I enjoyed the article. Please don't take the deletion of the article too hard. You appear to be a good article writer and I hope you are not discouraged from continuing to contribute. It's just that, we do get a lot a band articles, and to keep from getting swamped, we came up with WP:BAND. Read it yourself and see if Overdrive Orchestra qualifies. They don't appear to.
My advice would be, let it go, by removing the "hangon" tag.
You could request to go to WP:AFD, where there would be a fuller discussion which would stay open a week. I would not recommend this - even if your request is allowed (probably not), there is, in my experience, no chance that the article won't get deleted there. We just don't allow bands that don't meet WP:BAND to have articles.
Sorry.
But seriously, I hate it when a new contributor gets their article deleted like this. You'll probably be like "screw Wikipedia". But I hope not. There's lot of interesting things to do here, regarding music and other things.
Message me if you have any questions, cheers, Herostratus (talk) 05:09, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
