Notability for Fictional Topics
[edit]Hi Smile, I notice you have been close to a 3RR with User:TTN over Frank West (Dead Rising). I was, to be honest, about to revert back to TTN's redirect, but I looked in on the talk page to review the discussion and thought I would post to your page before doing so. I strongly urge you to read two pages: first, WP:CONSENSUS, where you will note that consensus, the glue that keeps this stuff together, always refers to the practices settled upon by the community at large. Thus, the accumulation of sentiment at a specific topic page (e.g. Frank West) can never trump the consensus of the Wikipedia generally. This consensus is expressed through guidelines and policies. Thus: second, WP:FICT (and relatedly WP:WAF). If you read the guideline you will note two things. One, Wikipedia is not the place for material that is not driven by a real-world perspective. Even if it is determined that Frank West (Dead Rising) should be kept, the degree of detail that is currently included should be reduced - by about 80 to 90% to follow our best practices. Second, you will note that there is a discussion about how and where to move material to other wikis which are not constrained by a consensus to focus on real-world context, notability and information. If your main concern is character detail and the like, there are wikias which are better venues for this kind of thing. I hope this explains why a redirect is the best option in this case and that you will not, as an editor who clearly cares about the topic, consider this either a repudiation or an admonition. Finally, you are always invited to weigh in at the discussions at WP:N, WP:FICT and WP:WAF to let your views be known should you wish to engage the prevailing consensus. Happy editing! Eusebeus (talk) 22:42, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, is that an article for Frank West I see? Consensus on Wikipedia is arbitrary and needs to be reworked. Otherwise this "encyclopedia" is going to become a shell. Smile Lee (talk) 21:18, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Editing User:Smile Lee/Userboxes/RelientK
[edit]A tag has been placed on Editing User:Smile Lee/Userboxes/RelientK, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Category Deletions
[edit]This is in response to your comment over at User Categories for Deletion, regarding the three musician/band categories that I nominated for deletion. The problem is not the userboxes themselves (which will remain), it was the categories you attached to them, and also where you added the categories in the User categorization tree. Read the instructions at Userboxes, especially "Category Inclusion". There is no need to add categories to every userbox; in fact, you probably shouldn't need to add user cats to any userbox you create, unless it is a category that is unquestionably helpful for collaboration across a wide series of articles. In the case of the three bands, collaboration on improving the band's article can be done at the talk page for the band's article. Categories for genres (such as Christian rock), are fine, and in fact there is no category for Wikipedians who listen to Christian rock in the appropriate parent category, Category:Wikipedians by music genre, which is a subcategory of Category:Wikipedians interested in music, which is a subcategory of Category:Wikipedians by interest. (You sometimes have to dig a little to find the appropriate place to add a new category.) If you were to create a userbox that added Category:Wikipedians who listen to Christian rock and made it a subcategory of Category:Wikipedians by music genre, it won't get nominated for deletion like the other three were, because that is an appropriate category. Horologium (talk) 20:33, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I agreed with this completely. Smile Lee (talk) 21:18, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
VG peer review
[edit]If you wish to have an article peer reviewed by the VG WikiProject, you need to follow the instructions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Peer review. Simply adding the article to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games/to do ([1])is not sufficient. Please ask if you have any questions. Pagrashtak 15:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
He's covered wars!
[edit]So why did you redirect it anyways? I was going to ask, but got busy. Bleh that other job I have! Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 18:01, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Alot of stress going on outside of the internet lol, but I finally have had a few hours to waste on the internet. To answer why I redirected, I caved under pressure lol, "abandon ship! Plus, I thought I was way outnumbered, but now I've enlisted help from other fellow editors TTN will not take down this page. I noticed your defense of the article beforehand, so I was all KYAA!
- Also, if you have a commons account, would you nominate this image for picture of the day? I took it last month, and I thought it might have a shot. P.S. It says Albuquerque in hebrew, I'm jewish lol.
Smile Lee (talk) 18:13, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- No commons account, sorry. :P Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 22:36, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I'm about done here (at wikipedia). I don't need this stress and the project is getting less and less useful to me. *sigh* Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 02:53, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thanks for the Barnstar. For what it's worth I try to keep things civil and work with people, and it's nice to see that consideration returned. I've laid out my points as best as I can and still think that while two articles are unnecessary, one GA or FA could potentially result from using elements of both articles. I'm not here to do a rush job and just trash the Frank West article (which is much improved from where it started out), but I do think that if Dead Rising was better it wouldn't be necessary. And with all that said I won't delete anything from the Frank West article, I'm just going to focus on the Dead Rising article (if and when I have time). Hewinsj (talk) 06:11, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Consensus can change and canvassing notes
[edit]This is in response to your talk page posts to rally people to vote keep for the Frank West article (because it was kept before). Here is a good read:Wikipedia:Consensus#Consensus_can_change. In my view, what you are doing (with several talk page posts) also seems to lean towards canvassing (see: Wikipedia:Canvassing), just to get the outcome you personally want. RobJ1981 (talk) 07:19, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't evaluate it that way. The way I evaluate it, is that several editors seem to have gather to force their own views about consensus as a tag team, which is regarded here as a clear evasion of WP:3RR, and a good reason to block all parties involved. That's as bad as canvassing. If you and Rob and the others cant agree, ask for another opinion. Not mine, i dont known squat about the subject. Both DGG (talk) 23:05, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:SVA Knight.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:SVA Knight.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 03:24, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MaburahoChibi.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:MaburahoChibi.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:58, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Characters and Story of Dead Rising
[edit]An editor has nominated Characters and Story of Dead Rising, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Characters and Story of Dead Rising and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 11:59, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem
[edit]Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

[edit]I see you've created Book:Relient K. However, it's currently orphaned (no articles link to the book). If you want people to know the book exists, just add {{Wikipedia-Books|Reliant K}} to relevant articles. Ideally most articles of the book should link to the book. File source problem with File:Al Hurricane's Canciones Del Alma.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Al Hurricane's Canciones Del Alma.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged.
