Ensuring Integrity Bill
1) Please do not remove content that has sources, without a reason. 2) Do a WP:BEFORE check before nominating an article for deletion. Especially, do not remove the sources/content from an article and then nominate it for deletion so that it will look like it has no sources. Fiamh (talk, contribs) 06:40, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Notice of noticeboard discussion
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is "Ending iban from 2016". Thank you. This concerns an appeal of an interaction ban you have with another editor. I'm performing the notification as the editor did not do so, I assume because they were concerned about violating the iban. Independent Australia
Noting this edit - I wonder if it might be time to add Independent Australia to the explicitly banned list. I haven't thought them to be a remotely reliable source for a long time, but after an incident this week with them spreading objectively fake news about Jacqui Lambie (in the same column and by the same author you just removed) I feel like the encyclopedia would be better if it was comprehensively purged. The Drover's Wife (talk) 02:28, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
- Their journalistic standards are lamentable. Every now and then someone will google for sources and come up with an IA article. It is almost certainly something thoroughly biased, lifted without permission from another source, or complete nonsense. The sort of fringe publication that caters for diehard conspiracy theorists, making money from eyeballs, and pushing sensational tripe. They are on the left and the right, but this one caught my attention years ago.
- Is there a process to go through? --Pete (talk) 02:37, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
Keep to the topic
Please do not post off-topic material. Keep it focussed. I placed a new section to cap all the toing and froing. Flooding a page with excessive text is disruptive. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 23:32, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
thanks for answer
Hello, Pete. Thank you for your information here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_350#Can_plausible%2C_unsourced_statement_rely_on_sourced_statement%3F. The distinction between something being reasonable yet should be sourced is good and valuable. Personally I would have taken the issue straight to WP:ANI rather than the Edit warring noticeboard. I suspect it will end up there before too long. -- PBS (talk) 19:33, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- I think a topic ban is in order and that requires community support at ANI. However, Ed noted the long term behaviour and this latest was a continuation of that in direct contempt of the warning issed at that noticeboard. I'm far from satisfied with the article. I'd like to see the lead trimmed down to a few good sentences where each word carries as much load as it can, and then have more detail and information in the body, adequately sourced, in a logical order. There has been some excellent work on this article in the past by people who know and have a good feel for the topic. Your suggestion of mining previous versions for ideas and phrasing is a very good one. One editor gave several references of other occupations - miners, show-girls, harlots - using the word civilian in the sense of "not one of us". It isn't just the cops; it's discrete communities mimicking the military usage to create an easily-communicated idea of a concept that might have no word in itself. "Non-miner", "non-prostitute" etc. --Pete (talk) 21:07, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
Sydney
There may be a misunderstanding [1]. Stable version is: "Aboriginal Australians have inhabited the Greater Sydney region for at least 30,000 years, and Aboriginal engravings and cultural sites are common throughout Greater Sydney. During his first Pacific voyage in 1770, Lieutenant James Cook and his crew became the first Europeans to chart the eastern coast of Australia, making landfall at Botany Bay" - this is a concise paragraph describing the history summary in lede. User: Aemilius Adolphin / User Poketama added additional information about 3 tribes, insignificant and POV violating - and creating an entire paragraph about the Aborigines. In lede !!! Yes, after new changes, in lede exist whole paragraph about the Aborigines who had no influence on the modern city of Sydney. At the moment, in the intro there is too much content about the Aborigines but in the intro there is not a word about the British people. This is a scandal. British people make up the majority group in both Sydney and Australia. This is totally POV. Stable version was more sensible, less cumbersome, and also more in line with the NPOV principle. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Outcast (anthology), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brian Smith. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Independent Australia - pattern of 'forcing' your opinion
Hi Pete. You seem to be making a very large number of edits blanking Independent Australia and any use of it as a reference, and I am concerned that these edits - which look like trying to force your personal opinion despite failing consensus - may be more disruptive than beneficial. As I have previously highlighted, your proposed discussion several years ago to deprecate IA as an acceptable source failed to reach consensus. Your repeated loaded claims of it being a "political opinion blog" despite respected media audit organisations finding IA as highly accurate/reliable with a moderate left-wing bias (which they openly disclose) have lack any evidence or consensus. I can see repeated patterns where you appear to be searching across Wikipedia for any reference of IA, and within minutes of each other, blanking content with the same edit description of "IA not a RS" without any further explanation or evidence that you have tried to look for alternative sources. I would encourage you in good-faith to focus on other ways you can contribute that don't focus on just blanking IA, such as looking for other references yourself, and would recommend you don't continually throw out the same claims of partiality without evidence or recent discussion/consensus. Tim (Talk) 12:53, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for your edits to that article. I inadvertently changed the spelling to American English, forgetting terms like "harbour" or the date system. Cheers. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:13, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, it's just the style guide. Hong Kong at that time was very definitely British and that's the format any article for that place and time should be in.
- More important to have the information and sourcing than to worry about the precise formatting. I'm just a nit-picker - what drew my attention was the article in front of the ships. It's OK to say "the USS Constitution", but "the HMS Victory" grates, because the HMS is for His or Her Majesty's ship and "the his" is not proper English. Kind of arcane, but it's in the style guide too.
