Some tips

Hello, fellow Cascadian. I see you've been editing a few articles about southwestern Washington, which is appreciated. Just wanted to share a few tips to help:

Also, I believe that you're a bit early on nominating North Cove, Washington for GA status. The article is developing well, but it is missing a lot of the requisite content and citations needed to make it meet the criteria. Don't be discouraged, as it does take a bit of time for users to learn their way up to GA and beyond, but I would suggest working on it more before nominating it. Kenneth Anger

The courts are closed until Monday, December 2, so the docket will reflect changes through December 1.

Insulting people because you think they're wrong is a poor reflection on you and a reason I'd never donate to this website. Please get a life and a clue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:43:4:310:310F:21AD:801B:18E3 (talk) 16:46, 28 November 2019 (UTC)

  • Comment @2601:43:4:310:310F:21AD:801B:18E3: Stop making uncited legal claims in BLP articles. I have a life and at least one clue, but appreciate your concern on those fronts. As for your other concerns, I'm not sure what you qualify as an insult, but I don't think I've made any. I've spoken only to the problematic content you added to the article. I don't have any affiliation with Wikipedia, so it's odd that your dispute with me would influence your decision to donate, or that you think I'd somehow be affected by that decision. Deleting content

Sorry about that, I really don't know how to edit well apparently. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.55.0.13 (talk) 22:15, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

Hello, skeletor you deleted the claim of the school moving which was confirmed by the principal in school. I go to Infinity but there are no articles I could add where they are saying that infinity is moving. You can try to contact Dr. Dobson if you don’t believe me. Naito Parkway

Thanks for creating Naito Parkway! I hope you'll consider creating/improving other articles about PDX streets. Keep up the great work! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:24, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

@Another Believer: I'm thinking of tackling Lombard next. Thank you for the encouragement! Skeletor3000 (talk) 22:50, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Page for speedy deletion

Eh? - Please give more info! S a g a C i t y (talk) 19:31, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

@Saga City: Hi, when I found the page, its history was layered with Trump trash talk. I failed to realize its original purpose as a link to Wiktionary. Sorry for the mix-up. Reversion to the Wiktionary link solved issues with the page. Skeletor3000 (talk) 21:00, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Tagging of Lyric Atchison

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Lyric Atchison. I do not think that Lyric Atchison fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because "2019 winner of the Tom Longboat Award, recognized as the female Aboriginal athlete of the entire year." is a Claim of significance. I request that you consider not re-tagging Lyric Atchison for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 02:59, 6 December 2019 (UTC)

Quotes / climate emergency

Hi there, I noticed my change was rejected on account of quotes around 'climate emergency'. I'd assumed this was correct when referencing her comments. Happy to have them removed. I'd felt that the original content 'rejects etc.' was somewhat biased given the newspaper article (sadly no longer a Telegraph subscriber so cannot post original content where she questioned the climate emergency, not science). Best, Phil — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.47.184.141 (talk) 06:14, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

@163.47.184.141: Hi, and thanks for your response. I do agree that the statement in the article had undue bias could be phrased more neutrally. I don't think the statement in the article should carry her own bias, either, though... putting a two word phrase in quotes gives the "air-quotes" impression, if that makes sense. I'm going to take a shot at making it more neutral. Give me a second for the edit and feel free to adjust things if you still feel it could be improved. Skeletor3000 (talk) 06:19, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

I hope you get this message - not all that frequent an editor on here. I agree - nice change and feel it captures the true essence of the article. Best wishes. Phil — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.47.184.141 (talk) 06:38, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

Jeff Sullivan (musician)

Please help and advise on how to make article less misleading. The interview referenced in your AfD only interviews Jeff Sullivan. No other band members are interviewed. The subject matter of the article is from his personal experience and discusses his personal life and projects outside of his work with Drivin N Cryin. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dncac (talkcontribs) 21:10, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

@Dncac: You're right about him being the only one interviewed! I was mistaken about that. Still, the interview's primary subject is the band and their activities, not Sullivan himself, even if he does mention his own life at some points. The more misleading uses of references (and far more important regarding his notability) backed statements about Sullivan being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Yes, his name is there, but he wasn't inducted independently, and there's a big difference there. I changed the statements in the article already, but it did read that he received all the honors named at the end of the career section rather than his band.

The main issue with his notability is that these sources do not refer to his music career as an independent musician. All focus on his band (except for the 3D-related ones, which aren't backing why he's notable), and therefore, that's the context in which he should be mentioned on Wikipedia. I hope that makes sense. Check WP:BAND, especially the text at the end of the section about members of bands. Thanks. Skeletor3000 (talk) 21:51, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

@Skeletor3000: Thank you for your prompt response and for clarifying your assessment of the entry in regards to notability. Though, in my opinion this musician has passed the independent Notability bar with his referenced session work outside of Drivin N Cryin with other Notable artists such as Peter Buck, Warren Haynes, The Black Crowes (where he is also referenced here and here) and Nikki Sudden. As well as Composer Notability with 36 composer credits to his credit including 2 for Major Movie releases. Please reconsider the AfD status, given his meeting Notability Criteria and in context with the individual pages of his bandmates and peers for which his Notability and references exceed. If the article is too promotional in tone and more encyclopedic page can be developed. Thank you.

@Dncac: I'm just not seeing significant coverage of his roles as an independent musician. It's true that some coverage may not be digitized, but it's rare for score composers to receive coverage unless they receive an award for the score or there's some other special circumstance. I'm glad you posted this info to the AfD discussion, though, because I think it should be available for others to review and discuss. I hope some other editors will respond to your comments and weigh in, and if nobody responds to what you've added, it seems fitting that an admin might repost the discussion for another week. I also think you should weigh in further if you're compelled to by editing your comment there and making it a Keep vote (as long as you have no external relationship with Sullivan). That could sway the admin to wait for more discussion, since consensus is the goal. Skeletor3000 (talk) 16:14, 12 December 2019 (UTC)

Digital model railway control systems

@Skeletor3000: Hello, I'm one of the founders of WiFi Model Railroad LLC. Being the pioneers in bringing the Direct WiFi Control to market, we thought it might be worth mentioning that there is something out there that is latest in technology and implemented as well and not just in concept. There's no denial that it helps us advertise ourselves through the Wikipedia platform but it does not seem like it changes any information in any way. The other reason we considered it valid was because there are many other manufacturers mentioned as well on the page not to mention the references to their proprietary systems. I hope that including our link will not only enhance the world of model railroading to use the latest in technology but encourage the younger readers to consider this as a hobby of the 21st century. Regards, 2601:644:8400:35:174:4257:863D:F407 (talk) 09:52, 16 December 2019 (UTC)Peeyush Garg

@2601:644:8400:35:174:4257:863D:F407: Thanks for explaining your intentions. While other manufacturers and their systems are mentioned, there are currently no external links in the body of the article, and adding any is strongly discouraged (see WP:ELNO). Also, adding links or info specific to a company you represent constitutes a conflict of interest (see WP:COI). However, I don't disagree that mentioning the technology your company offers could appropriately improve the article. I'd recommend that you post to the article's talk page, clearly stating your conflict of interest, and suggesting information for inclusion that could improve the article.
