Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! - Hi - with this edit you added material to the Bon Aire article which is copied directly from the University of Virginia website. Wikipedia is very strict on the use of material with is copyright, it is not allowed in almost all circumstances. Please be conscious of not doing this. Kind regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 23:54, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Hi - apologies for all the messages, but given your statement on my talk page, it's important you are familiar with Wikipedia policies which are quite relevant in your case. By claiming to be the owner of Bon Aire, you have a conflict of interest. It is probably best at this point that you do not continue to edit the article. You can read what is the accepted practice in circumstances like this at WP:COI. This is another area where Wikipedia is very strict; it ensures that Wikipedia remains independent and neutral. I hope all of this is not too discouraging and I am happy to assist as I can. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:04, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- It looks like I need to do a deep dive into what Wikipedia policies are before I add any more content. Newbie mistake. Skatingtoolman (talk) 19:28, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- Technically, I do not own the property yet. We are under contract to buy it, but we do not own it. In this case, we found 100's of pages of historical data on Bon Aire. If I do not edit the page who would take the time to do so? If this was an article about myself, I can see how that would be a conflict of interest, but this is a historical piece of property. - If I give you the content, can you add it to the page? If not, who would bother to take the time to do it? Skatingtoolman (talk) 12:39, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
