This should be common knowledge for someone who’s been on Wikipedia for 12 years that you NEED to include a source with any information you are adding on here... just because you believe you saw it years ago on Billboards website doesn’t count, nor does having a Pollstar account. Make it make sense that anybody can edit on here, anyone can change the numbers at any time. If there’s no source then how do we know which is correct and which isn’t? Again, make it make sense. But then again you only have 300 some edits on here. I will be reaching out to an admin. Pillowdelight (talk) 16:46, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- You can look at several tour pages for big artists that have no source for the attendance and revenue numbers. Check out Beautiful Trauma World Tour by Pink for instance. Do you see any sources there? Other than for the total revenue which had it's own article all these attendance figures are posted when they became available. Either through Pollstar or Billboard. They are not available for long though and Billboard has them behind a pay wall nowadays. Yet somehow the figures are valid and also added when they become available. skaschep (talk) 16:53, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- That page literally includes the sources to the box score. I don’t know why you are making this difficult. Pillowdelight (talk) 16:57, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- I see that now. But you do need a Pro Billboard account for that now. The attendance figures are not widely available and I also know that there are several tours where this is not so nicely captured with archive sites. For instance this one Wonderful_Crazy_Night_Tour. So are you going through all those sites as well to remove the attendance? In 2009 they probably didn't think of archiving this. The figures are right though based on the Pollstar info I have. In 12 years nobody felt the need to remove them except you. skaschep (talk) 17:04, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
I have been asked to have a look at this, and can offer the following advice: Just because one person can verify the information now, it doesn't mean it's acceptable. Any information needs to be easily verifiable at any time by anyone, which is why we need to ensure the attendance figures are properly cited to a source. And yes, if there is unreferenced content in Beautiful Trauma World Tour, that needs to be looked at as well.
If Billboard have recently hidden certain figures we rely on as sources behind a paywall, it's possible the Internet Archive will have a cached copy that can be used instead. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:09, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- Attendance figures are only available nowadays if you pay for them. They used to be available freely but would also disappear as the page would refresh with the new info. So unless people made an archived page of that, the source is gone. There seem to be archived pages of the billboard box office data, but good luck going through thousands of archived pages to see if the info that was posted on tour pages was taken from that specific page. It's probably not traceable anymore on which date the info was taken from billboard in the past. These figures got available on the moment the venue would report them. That could mean months after the concert was done. Even years some times. If you want to remove data from wiki just because someone wasn't smart enough to archive the box office page from Billboard go ahead. You'll lose a lot of data on a lot of pages then. Making the info on wiki incomplete and not reliable anymore. skaschep (talk) 17:19, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- The problem comes along in, say, three years time when somebody decides to vandalise the article, falsifying all the attendance records. Without a source, how do we tell it was vandalism or a good faith correction? How do we know what the real values are? If sites are actively hiding off information (and this is nothing new, The Times paywalling, followed by the Daily Telegraph has caused source rot), then it brings up serious problems. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:25, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- I’ve tried explaining this to them as well. They need to be removed if there’s no source.
Pillowdelight (talk) 17:33, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- I do understand what you are saying and yes that can cause a problem, but there are so many tour pages without complete sources from big artists also. Are you really going to remove all that data? skaschep (talk) 17:34, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- If there’s no source or an archived source then yes, it’s appropriate to remove it.
Pillowdelight (talk) 17:47, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- I concur with Pillowdelight. Skaschep, unless the information can be verified, what's the point of adding the figures to the article? As Ritchie333 told you, anyone could add a random figure to the page in future and you won't be able to show if it's correct or not. If you see the tour pages of some other artists- 24K Magic World Tour, Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour, The 1989 World Tour, Harry Styles: Live on Tour, all attendance and revenue figures are sourced using archived links. So yes, sources are available somewhere and have been probably archived. We just need the time and patience to find them. Until then, I suggest you remove the percentages from the page. Ashleyyoursmile! 17:52, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- The figures were there already. They were added on 24 July 2010 when the data became available, which you can track back by going through the changes on the page. It's not like I added them on a whim in 2021. So you will put a source above data that will be lost forever. Good luck on going through all the tour pages then. Especially the older ones from all the artists that don't have sources. The info was taken from Billboard or Pollstar. You can verify the data by buying the tour data from an artist. Which is 25 dollars. Like on this page the data was added in 2015: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Face_to_Face_2010&diff=prev&oldid=686482352. Nobody questions it. So far nobody has remove it in 6 years, but there is no source. Billboard box office archive pages go only back to 2013 from what I can see. They changed URL at least once after that. It could be that they changed it in 2013 as well, but I can't find that yet. The info came from somewhere. The Idols Tour 2008 page has no source either except Billboard / Pollstar. So I guess you need to delete that as well. skaschep (talk) 17:58, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- I challenge you to remove the data from Fearless_Tour from Taylor Swift as well then. It's also a tour from 2009-2010 which is not sourced. So far I am not able to find archived pages from that period that work. skaschep (talk) 18:12, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- I found some more articles without traceable sources. Some of them were all properly sourced back then, but now the source doesn't work anymore. New_Kids_on_the_Block_Live, Funhouse_Tour, Leonard_Cohen_Tour_2008–2010, Jonas_Brothers_World_Tour_2009 & KylieX2008. So far I have found no tour from 2009 that has been properly sourced. So go ahead and go through the Category:2009_concert_tours to remove all the data from these articles. skaschep (talk) 18:35, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on American Idols Live! Tour 2009. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Ashleyyoursmile! 04:19, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- You are supposed to add sources to support any changes you make so that it does not violate our WP:V and WP:OR policies. Three editors have already told you how your edits are problematic. Referencing to other similar articles is not at all persuasive. --Ashleyyoursmile! 04:23, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- I didn't add anything to those articles. I just put back what was removed. And I put in official sources to some of the removals already. Which were now removed as well again. I don't understand what is wrong with those sources. I tried to explain on this talk page already why I think it is wrong to remove data which has been in an article for over 10 years already. You are accusing me of things I didn't do. I guess you didn't even look at what I put in as sources. Just like you are accusing me of adding unsourced things to this article. Which I didn't do. If you would even read what I said above you would know that. skaschep (talk) 17:43, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
