Hello. You previously voted in the 2006 AfD for Suri Cruise. At the time, Suri was less than 10 days old, and the ultimate verdict was to turn the article into a redirect to her mother's page.

Since then, Suri has become much more notable in her own right as a toddler fashion icon, with over 13 million hits on google image search. After getting an administrator to lift the protection on the redirect, I recently restored the article as a stub, but an editor who believes that "6 year olds are not inherently notable" has again requested deletion.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate your making your opinion known at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Suri Cruise (2nd nomination) Warren Dew (talk) 07:38, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two serious questions for u:

[edit]
  1. What type of, where, n how this Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington is a ghost?
  2. What does Nearly Headless Nick mean??

Alright. I haven't read those books as the textbooks of Guj State Board is enough to make u sick. But i have seen all Harry films, I remember that there was a ghost who was with portable head! I think his name was also Sir Nicholas. Yasht101 18:02, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you explain your changes to Abdul Kalam, Kocheril Raman Narayanan, and Ramaswamy Venkatraman? The pages for these people are supposed to include their native language and Hindi (optional, since it is the official language of India). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dav subrajathan.357 (talkcontribs) 27-02-12

(talk page stalker) Thanks for your contribution but You were adding transliteration scripts in different languages to a bunch of articles. This is not proper. It is kind of Vandalism according to me, so stop it ASAP or you can b blocked. And if you want to know: There is no rule of so called 'Native Language'. Thank You! Yasht101 19:10, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yash, this is not vandalism specifically. The India community has agreed not to add transliterated scripts to articles as per discussion on WT:IN. Dav has been previously asked not to do that, but they continued without discussion. There is an ongoing discussion thread on the India noticeboard. Feel free to leave a comment or two. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 19:23, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but isn't the thing that Dav is doing rather wierd n should be stopped from doing it? Yasht101 19:33, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My purpose in adding Naga Chaitanya's last name, Akkineni, is for viewers to know that he is the grandson of the famous 1900's actor Nageswara Rao Akkineni and the son of actor Nagarjuna Rao Akkineni. Dav subrajathan.357 (talk) 19:45, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dav, i think that it would be better if you add that thing in the description, prolly in 'Early Life' section, if there is any. Thank You! Yasht101 03:14, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Birthnames

[edit]

Though Akkineni, the surname/last name of Naga Chaitanya, is not needed, I think it should still be included in the birthname. What do you think? (asking because you removed the entire birthname) Dav subrajathan.357 (talk) 21:42, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yash. I have removed the speedy deletion template from the page. For now, you can edit it freely. Please see our general notability guideline which you will be required to fulfill to establish the notability of the committee. I don't think that would be too difficult. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 15:05, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes sir, but i have my board exams, so i come on wikipedia for only 5 or 10 odd minutes just to get refreshment. I'll wikify and make those articles notable on the day exams are ending i.e., 19 March. Till then i wont b able to do that. Sorry sir for that! Yasht101 23:36, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Regarding reverting done by u on the page of Mukesh Ambani

[edit]
  1. I really dont understand why you have reverted my contribution on the page of Mukesh Ambani.
  2. He is the president and chairman of our univerity. I have mentioned at least three very much reliable references, than also u have deleted that!!!
  3. What's the problem. you tell that everybody should contribute to wikipedia and when i am doind that you are discouraging me without going through the right information.
  4. Do you have even visited the official website of PDPU??

Please dont do that again and observe the references.
--Rajeevsingh007 (talk) 09:35, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, Rajeev. The reason why I reverted your edit is because including information about PDPU in the lead section of the Mukesh Ambani article is not proper as per policy. See Wikipedia's guidelines on lead sections and reliable sourcing. Mukesh Ambani's chairmanship of PDPU does not qualify for a reference on his own biography page but it might be worthwhile to mention on PDPU's article lead. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 09:38, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Than tell which type of reference do you require to appear that thing on his biography, because he is serving for the university past 5 years and government has extended the tenure for next five year in from 2012, by passing a bill in legislative assembly.

Renaming Lee Kuan Yew's wiki

[edit]

Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible to rename Lee Kuan Yew's wiki to Harry Lee Kuan Yew instead of Lee Kuan Yew.

You see, his birth name, the name on his birth certificate and degree certificates is Harry Lee Kuan Yew. That is his only official and legal name. He was known as Harry Lee for the first 30 years of his life. After entering politics, in public, he began to drop the 'Harry' and used only 'Lee Kuan Yew'. His close friends still call him Harry Lee.

So I think, it is more accurate to rename the page to Harry Lee Kuan Yew, which is his birth name and official name, since he is an important figure no doubt, and accuracy should be achieved.

This appeared in an article in a Singaporean broadsheet once, I read it. You can view that particular article in this blog, it was written by Harry LKY's daughter, Lee Wei Ling.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Yasht101 :) 10:08, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Procedural question + request for comments

[edit]

I noticed that you edited and commented on the page Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident yesterday. I've also seen you around other China-related topics, so thought you might be a good person to ask for some feedback. That page is currently listed as a feature article, though it's been through several iterations since it attained that status. In the last week alone, hundreds of edits have been made. Since this is not the same page as passed FA review several years ago, there seems to be a need for reassessment. However, I'm not sure what the process ought to be. Should it be relisted for review right now (and likely fail on account of instability and unaddressed problems), or should involved editors identify and discuss changes to be made, establish a timeframe for resolving the outstanding issues, and then seek reassessment? Also, as a general comment, if you'd care to just keep an eye on the talk page, that would probably be good. It is not a bastion of civility, and would benefit from more people collaborating. Your request

[edit]

An editor had incorrectly quoted me in WP:ANI; as a response, I corrected it and stated that such incorrect quoting could be deemed as "defamation and lying". As per WP:NLT, "defamation" is grounds for being a legal threat. Though there is a clause that mentions that other editors are supposed to ask the speaking editor about the intention of the statement (and I was not asked). I hope this clears it. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 12:58, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you link me to those diffs? Thanks. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 13:02, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the entire discussion that happened at WP:ANI (the discussion is currently archived in Archive 745). ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 13:06, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone through the discussion on the administrators' noticeboard and here is my observation: I do not endorse Ankitbhatt's recent conduct, however to construe a word such as "defamation" as a legal threat may be taking things too far. All libel is defamation, but not all defamation is libel. Libel is an actionable claim, defamation is not always actionable. Defamation happens to be a generic term which refers to vilification, and often not anything else. On the other hand, a legal threat has to be explicit: "I will report you to the police" or "I will file a suit against you." Therefore, it is pertinent and courteous to ask an individual user of their intentions before criticizing them on that particular point. I understand that there are many other issues around this user's conduct which may have justified administrative action, however "making legal threats" is not one of them. This comment should not be construed in any way as a criticism of the blocking administrator. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 13:16, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I admit that my behavior was hardly satisfactory. Though I believe that the reason for me being blocked was basically because of violation of WP:NLT, among other things. I suggest you inform the blocking administrator of your queries; perhaps he can clarify better. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 13:21, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here it is stated the ways that how to assess by adding various parameters like, history, sports, geography, etc: [1]

But when you add them in the talk page of a article, it is not appearing. For e.g., I tried to add History parameter in this talk, but it is not appearing: [2]

WP Pakistan Template is protected so I cannot edit as currently I don't have mop. But I thought that you can fix the problem. Thanks! Yasht101 00:48, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You removed verified, sourced and cited information from the article. When you did so, you had not responded on the talk page for 3 days, abandoning discussion. Your edit summary suggests that you have still not looked at the source, yet you demand other editors do your work for you. So, have you looked at the source? Gimmetoo (talk) 21:23, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, I have not. It is not a resource which is available on the internet. The onus lies on you to provide the text of the source so that the discussion participants can, in good faith, resolve the issue. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 05:55, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
According to what policy is it required for4 editors to not only provide a citation, but also the text of the source? Unfortunately, you have removed sourced information from an article without participating in discussion, and if you cannot be bothered to look at the source, then it is difficult to see how you could contribute in an informed manner. Gimmetoo (talk) 10:24, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did not participate in this discussion? Maybe you did not see my request above in the thread. Please review. Thanks. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 15:58, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion had ended for some days when you made your unannounced and undiscussed removal of sourced information. You had abandoned discussion. All your "request" demonstrated is that you have not looked at the source, and so you are in a position of ignorance. And you have elected to act on that ignorance destructively, by removing sourced and cited information. Gimmetoo (talk) 16:09, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You or someone else included the citation into the article without explaining where you got it from and what the source actually says, so the burden of proof is on you, not on the users who oppose its inclusion. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 16:15, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What are you talking about? What is "it" in "where you got it"? It was gotten from the source. If you think that some fine point of the text in the article does not accurately reflect the cited source, then you can try make that argument, but you can't make that argument without looking at the cited source and providing details. Nor can you remove cited material because you are unwilling to look at the cited source; that's disruptive. Gimmetoo (talk) 16:42, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that you start addressing me appropriately, there was not anything remotely "disruptive" about my edits. I do not have access to the book, and we do not know the context in which the assertion was made. I am looking for a policy-based resolution here (see WP:BURDEN), and so if you wish to have that assertion re-included in the article you have to produce the specific evidence I have asked for. I am, in good faith, willing to accept your brief reproduction of the content as proof. Again, please assume good faith and focus on the content. Thanks. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 17:46, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that I don't see your removals as having any policy-based justification, and since you have not been discussing, it is difficult to guess what you might be thinking. Specifically, it is inline cited (per WP:BURDEN), and I see nothing else in WP:BURDEN that authorizes you to remove this material. As such, please cite specifically from WP:V justifying your removals, with the appropriate evidence required. If you need to, you may purchase book in paper or ebook form. Gimmetoo (talk) 18:04, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please take this discussion to the talk page of the article. I do not wish to discuss this with you further over here. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 18:24, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[3] It was my understanding here that you agreed to engage discussion on a policy-based level. I do not find the end of your edit to be policy-based; Indeed, it appears to be a threat. If you wish to engage discussion on the level of user behaviour, then we will discuss that here. Gimmetoo (talk) 16:31, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I guess we will discuss it here. [4] Your implied threat is highly inappropriate. Please refrain from such in the future. Gimmetoo (talk) 18:52, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore Airlines

[edit]

You recently edited Singapore Airlines and removed some content without explanation. Next time please explain something If it is not vandalism. Thanks Qantasplanes (talk) 09:57, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What he removed was irrelevant. List of companies, airports or Malaysia airlines if not kept in the article is better thing to do. They don't relate to the airline so not a vandal edit. Yasht101 10:25, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So your saying that it is "irrelevant". I'm not sure anyone will agree with you. And who said it was a "vandal" edit? Think before you speak son.Qantasplanes (talk) 10:31, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is irrelevant till some extend. It is debatable. I would prefer if you disscuss this with someone who has been editing that article or airlines related articals since long time.
If you call someone son, you indirectly say that you are better then them which is not a good faith thing to say
Next time please explain something If it is not vandalism - clearly states that you considered their edit as a vandal.
Happy editing! Yasht101 10:36, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How long is a long time? Qantasplanes (talk) 10:38, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice, Qantasplanes, I will keep that in mind. I thought the removal of those links was fairly uncontroversial given that the subject is an airline so I didn't see how the links to "List of airports in Singapore", "List of companies in Singapore" and "Malaysia Airlines" were directly relevant to the subject. Next time on, instead of reverting an established user, please leave a message on their talk page so that they can address your concerns, so that it saves us all some time and effort. Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Desmond Choo. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:13, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Desmond Choo has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. joe deckertalk to me 06:07, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Neutal noticeboard post

Just a courtesy note to inform you that I removed some wording that I felt was not neutral and ought not to be used in such an instance. I am sure you would want to avoid all accusations of canvassing. Thanks for your attention. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 14:59, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I'd really appreciate it if you explain yourself before reverting my edit on the article. This is the second time you removed my addition without providing any rationale in your edit summaries. 220.255.1.92 (talk) 04:17, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Since you are on a dynamic IP range, I will respond here. You cannot add content (including categories) to biographies of living persons without using reliable sourcing to back up your claims. Moreover, you seem to be acquainted with Wikipedia given your editing style, so please discuss on the talk page of the article. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 05:22, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator policy

[edit]

Regarding your recent semi-protection and use of rollback at Donald Tsang, I'd like to remind you of WP:INVOLVED, Wikipedia:Rollback_feature#When_to_use_rollback, and Wikipedia:Protection_policy#Guidance_for_administrators.

You have taken a clear stance on this issue, so it appears to be conflict of interest for you to be using administrator tools to favor a certain version of the page. Semi-protection is used when all parties involved in an edit war are unregistered or new editors, not to favor registered users in the content dispute over non-registered users.

I suggest that you undo the page protection and request another administrator to protect it if you believe it deserves protection. I don't think it does, since there is no edit war.--Jiang (talk) 22:59, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't come here to defend WP:POINTy edits made by random IP users. Perhaps you should take a look at their contribution history before lecturing me on administrator policy. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 23:03, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
219.78.16.8's contribution history is indeed problematic, and I even reverted one of this user's edits earlier in the day, but that does not justify your actions at Donald Tsang as 219.78.16.8's edits to that particular article did not constitute vandalism. Even if it did constitute vandalism, it would not justify semi-protection, which usually requires repeated vandalism by the same or multiple IP addresses. Here, there was only a single edit to this article by this IP.
Perhaps you ought to warn 219.78.16.8 instead.--Jiang (talk) 23:12, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Given my extensive experience as an administrator on this project, I have a good reason to believe that it is an involved user editing from a random IP address for some WP:POINTy fun. I cannot help but feel amused at your propensity to ruleslawyer in every given situation. Please do not encourage disruptive behaviour by coming to their defense. I hope you have better things to do. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 23:20, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did not come to you to defend 219.78.16.8. I came here to request that an unnecessary and inappropriately implemented page protection be undone. It would be just as bad form for me to do so without consulting you first.
We all make mistakes sometimes. Sometimes the best thing to do is to accept them and move on.
Are you going to object if I undo the page protection?--Jiang (talk) 23:31, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I would object. Given that (i) there is an on-going BLP content dispute and (ii) the fact that we have witnessed several IP users edit-warring with established editors, the likelihood of further abuse is high and in that context the semi-protection is justified. It does not however, as you should note, obstruct demonstrably inappropriate editing by established users. I do hope you will apologize and undo the change made. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 23:45, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania

Hello again - we talked a bit previously about a scandal in Indian politics. Are you coming to Wikimania? If not, who from the India chapter is? According to the time line lodged at Talk:Burma#Requested move (Burma → Myanmar) August 2012 you [re]listed the requested move if you dispute the time line then post a message to my talk page.

If as it seem you are the editor who [re]listed the requested move. Add the a move request proposal to Talk:Burma#Reasons for the move before you make any more edits (other than to my talk page) or I will close the request on a technical close. -- PBS (talk) 18:38, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have posted to PBS's talk page. I don't believe that any action or inaction by either you or the original proposer Marcus Qwertyus can unilaterally determine the closure of an RM that already has more than one supporter. By analogy, consider speedy deletion criteria for articles: G7 "sole author" speedy deletion no longer apply after there is more than one contributor. Similarly, it is not up to the original proposer (or "reviver") to unilaterally withdraw an RM after at least one other person has indicated support. Just as there is no ownership of articles that have more than a sole author, there is no ownership of RMs that have more than one supporter. We should let the RM run its course. — P.T. Aufrette (talk) 19:20, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the note, PBS. I will comply with your request shortly. Thanks. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 03:24, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What just happened at Talk:Burma?

[edit]

I'm very confused. I see the section above, but it's not really making things clearer. Did you relist the debate? Did you make a co-request? Was that place "reserved for a comment" for you or for Marcus Qwertyus? Why highlight certain oppose arguments over others (under "Reasons for not moving")? Is it really a counter proposal if you're just saying no to the original proposal? I admire your efforts to make this daunting discussion more accessible, but at least in some parts, and at least to me, the result has been fairly confusing. --BDD (talk) 05:05, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, BDD. PBS insisted that since I re-opened the debate after Marcus closed it prematurely, I ought to leave a rationale at the top explaining why I think that the page ought to be moved to Myanmar instead of the current name. The "reasons for the move" section is simply procedural - since that is where a nominator leaves their commentary appealing to the community to make the change. I am not so certain about the "reasons for not moving" section, which has been created by BritishWatcher, possibly as a response to Marcus's nomination. Please feel free to point this out under the "procedural comments" sub-section. Thanks, — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 07:20, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I guess the reasons for not moving had always been there and I had just noticed. When you're referring to Marcus closing it prematurely though, that was, I want to say the day of or the day after the initial request. Did Marcus close it again more recently? --BDD (talk) 14:03, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I place a "reasons for not moving" section header into this debate because the debate appeared to start as an RfC which I retro-fitted an RM. Before I added the RM, there were at the top of the section lists of evidence for and against. As it happens this issue about biased RfC has just been discussed on the RfC talk page and a new bullet point (which I helped to draft) added to the wording of the RfC policy: If you feel an RfC is improperly worded, ask the originator to improve the wording, or add an alternative unbiased statement immediately below the RfC question template. Do not close the RfC just because you think the wording is biased. So I put in the RM added a section for the proposer, and moved what I thought were the initial complaints, into a new subsection called "Reasons for not moving" (in line with the new guidance in the RfC) --Simples! -- PBS (talk) 16:03, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Once in Ireland when asking for directions I received the classic reply "If I was going there I would not start from here" (meaning it is complicated to give accurate directions). In this case because of a withdrawn RM, an RfC and a malformed reopening, of the RM, it was not at all clear to anyone new to the conversation what was going on. Hopefully now that the new RM is in place with a clear nominee, it will now go through to completion without any more procedural hiccups. -- PBS (talk) 16:08, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding recent reversion of my edit at the LKY page

[edit]

Hi. Regarding ur recent reversion of my edit to the lee kuan yew article, could you tell me why you did so? I believe you should have a reasonable reason and I wish to hear it, as a learning point.

Side note: LKY is a dictator, and hence it should be okay to mention that fact in the lead section of the article. But I guess maybe there's a reason why it should not be included. Bonkers The Clown (talk) 14:28, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I didn't expect such a reaction (so you are the administrator) but i just undid the revision, i didn't add him first. Harry? Or not

[edit]

Hi, Nearly Headless Nick, this is with concern, once again, to the Lee Kuan Yew article. You have helpfully reverted my edit, time after time, and directed me to WP:UNDUE. Now, I thank you for that warning and the heads up, but I still don't understand. After re-reading UNDUE for innumerable times, I don't think WP:UNDUE has even any relevance to the current issues (regarding LKY's birthname), simply because WP:UNDUE addresses issues pertaining to the inclusion of minority viewpoints. I stress that term. Lee Kuan Yew's given birth name, Harry, is mentioned in almost ALL of his memoirs, biographies, etc (usually in the front sections). That is not a view! It is a fact... How do I put it? A viewpoint is very different from a fact. And not to mention it is not someone else writing about this fact, it is Lee himself who mentions it... In what way is that even a view?

One example of a viewpoint:

  • I think that Lee Kuan Yew's given birth name is Harry.

One example of a fact:
Actual text from one of LKY's memoirs

  • I decided after my studies to stop using the name "Harry" which my paternal grandfather, an ardent admirer of the British, had given me. (Does this sound like a viewpoint in any way to you?)

If possible, every biography starts with the name, birth date and birth name, if different from the subject's current name. It is not about weightage, it is about WP:BIRTHNAME.

I hope this makes sense to you. Thanks. Bonkers The Clown (talk) 05:07, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
