At the time, Suri was less than 10 days old, and the ultimate verdict was to turn the article into a redirect to her mother's page. Since then, Suri has become much more notable in her own right as a toddler fashion icon, with over 13 million hits on google image search. After getting an administrator to lift the protection on the redirect, I recently restored the article as a stub, but an editor who believes that "6 year olds are not inherently notable" has again requested deletion. If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate your making your opinion known at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Suri Cruise (2nd nomination) Warren Dew (talk) 07:38, 26 February 2012 (UTC) Two serious questions for u:[edit]

My purpose in adding Naga Chaitanya's last name, Akkineni, is for viewers to know that he is the grandson of the famous 1900's actor Nageswara Rao Akkineni and the son of actor Nagarjuna Rao Akkineni. Dav subrajathan.357 (talk) 19:45, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Birthnames[edit]Though Akkineni, the surname/last name of Naga Chaitanya, is not needed, I think it should still be included in the birthname. What do you think? WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest[edit]Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it. As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012. If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so. You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way. ssriram_mt (talk) & AshLin (talk) (Drive coordinators) Delivered per request on Wikipedia:Bot requests. Hello. You have a new message at PhnomPencil's talk page.
Renaming Lee Kuan Yew's wiki[edit]Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible to rename Lee Kuan Yew's wiki to Harry Lee Kuan Yew instead of Lee Kuan Yew. You see, his birth name, the name on his birth certificate and degree certificates is Harry Lee Kuan Yew. That is his only official and legal name. He was known as Harry Lee for the first 30 years of his life. After entering politics, in public, he began to drop the 'Harry' and used only 'Lee Kuan Yew'. His close friends still call him Harry Lee. So I think, it is more accurate to rename the page to Harry Lee Kuan Yew, which is his birth name and official name, since he is an important figure no doubt, and accuracy should be achieved. This appeared in an article in a Singaporean broadsheet once, I read it. You can view that particular article in this blog, it was written by Harry LKY's daughter, Lee Wei Ling. http://flowerprint.blogspot.com/2010/03/no-need-for-uneqqee-nam.html Smilingfrog (talk) 07:13, 17 March 2012 (UTC) Hello[edit]Hey Andy! A tag has been placed on User:Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. I've also seen you around other China-related topics, so thought you might be a good person to ask for some feedback. That page is currently listed as a feature article, though it's been through several iterations since it attained that status. In the last week alone, hundreds of edits have been made. Since this is not the same page as passed FA review several years ago, there seems to be a need for reassessment. However, I'm not sure what the process ought to be. Should it be relisted for review right now (and likely fail on account of instability and unaddressed problems), or should involved editors identify and discuss changes to be made, establish a timeframe for resolving the outstanding issues, and then seek reassessment? Also, as a general comment, if you'd care to just keep an eye on the talk page, that would probably be good. It is not a bastion of civility, and would benefit from more people collaborating. Homunculus (duihua) 16:24, 4 April 2012 (UTC) Your request[edit]An editor had incorrectly quoted me in WP:ANI; as a response, I corrected it and stated that such incorrect quoting could be deemed as "defamation and lying". Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Desmond Choo. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:13, 17 May 2012 (UTC) The article Desmond Choo has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. joe deckertalk to me 06:07, 18 May 2012 (UTC) Mail call![edit]Hello, Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington/Archive. Administrator policy[edit]Regarding your recent semi-protection and use of rollback at Donald Tsang, I'd like to remind you of WP:INVOLVED, Wikipedia:Rollback_feature#When_to_use_rollback, and Wikipedia:Protection_policy#Guidance_for_administrators. You have taken a clear stance on this issue, so it appears to be conflict of interest for you to be using administrator tools to favor a certain version of the page. Semi-protection is used when all parties involved in an edit war are unregistered or new editors, not to favor registered users in the content dispute over non-registered users. I suggest that you undo the page protection and request another administrator to protect it if you believe it deserves protection. I don't think it does, since there is no edit war.--Jiang (talk) 22:59, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

What just happened at Talk:Burma?[edit]I'm very confused. I see the section above, but it's not really making things clearer. Did you relist the debate? Did you make a co-request? Was that place "reserved for a comment" for you or for Marcus Qwertyus? Why highlight certain oppose arguments over others (under "Reasons for not moving")? Is it really a counter proposal if you're just saying no to the original proposal? I admire your efforts to make this daunting discussion more accessible, but at least in some parts, and at least to me, the result has been fairly confusing. --BDD (talk) 05:05, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
I place a "reasons for not moving" section header into this debate because the debate appeared to start as an RfC which I retro-fitted an RM. Before I added the RM, there were at the top of the section lists of evidence for and against. As it happens this issue about biased RfC has just been discussed on the RfC talk page and a new bullet point (which I helped to draft) added to the wording of the RfC policy: If you feel an RfC is improperly worded, ask the originator to improve the wording, or add an alternative unbiased statement immediately below the RfC question template. Do not close the RfC just because you think the wording is biased. So I put in the RM added a section for the proposer, and moved what I thought were the initial complaints, into a new subsection called "Reasons for not moving" (in line with the new guidance in the RfC) --Simples! -- PBS (talk) 16:03, 23 August 2012 (UTC) Once in Ireland when asking for directions I received the classic reply "If I was going there I would not start from here" (meaning it is complicated to give accurate directions). In this case because of a withdrawn RM, an RfC and a malformed reopening, of the RM, it was not at all clear to anyone new to the conversation what was going on. Hopefully now that the new RM is in place with a clear nominee, it will now go through to completion without any more procedural hiccups. -- PBS (talk) 16:08, 23 August 2012 (UTC) India Page[edit]Hi, I have reverted you edit on the India page, AFAIK there was a consensus not have Bharat Ganarajya rendered in Devanagri but not to remove it. You have helpfully reverted my edit, time after time, and directed me to WP:UNDUE. Now, I thank you for that warning and the heads up, but I still don't understand. After re-reading UNDUE for innumerable times, I don't think WP:UNDUE has even any relevance to the current issues (regarding LKY's birthname), simply because WP:UNDUE addresses issues pertaining to the inclusion of minority viewpoints. I stress that term. Lee Kuan Yew's given birth name, Harry, is mentioned in almost ALL of his memoirs, biographies, etc (usually in the front sections). That is not a view! It is a fact... How do I put it? A viewpoint is very different from a fact. And not to mention it is not someone else writing about this fact, it is Lee himself who mentions it... In what way is that even a view? One example of a viewpoint:
One example of a fact:
If possible, every biography starts with the name, birth date and birth name, if different from the subject's current name. It is not about weightage, it is about WP:BIRTHNAME. I hope this makes sense to you. Thanks. Bonkers The Clown (talk) 05:07, 21 October 2012 (UTC) |
