[edit]Hello, I'm Alpha Piscis Austrini. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Moe Brooker have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Thanks. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 15:38, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Alpha Piscis Austrini. Thanks for your input, but I always use my Sandbox. In fact, I write my articles in Word on my computer after I research them, then copy & paste to Sandbox & then to a wikipedia page. I try to be as thorough as possible, and I'm not experimenting. I am new to this & I'm still learning, and I appreciate helpful info. I am writing mostly about African American artists who only lately have been receiving coverage and acknowledgment, so I have to dig deep to find background info on them. Thanks, Sherryleehoward. Sherryleehoward (talk) 14:17, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- I understand that. The reference list was...unusual, to say the least, and I think there were also errors in your copy and pasting as well (referring to the edit I reverted back in February). But I appreciate your hard work on the Wiki regardless. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 14:20, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- When writing about Black artists, I have to rely extensively on Black newspapers because they were the only ones writing about these artists. In a few cases, white newspapers mentioned them. So my references will never be book/anthology heavy, until you get to the latter part of the 20th century and into the 21st century. btw, can you take a look at an article I just completed on Reba Dickerson-Hill with comments from other wikipediers. I'm not sure about what they're asking for. Thanks. Sherryleehoward (talk) 14:28, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

Did You Know feature
[edit]Hi Sherryleehoward
I don't create many articles but when I do I always nominate them for a DYK on the main page, as this gets huge numbers of readers (thousands rather than dozens). See my own Talk Page for the templates that the process adds when they get accepted. The nomination process is a bit arcane but I'm very willing to help. New articles have to be nominated within 7 days of their entering Mainspace, so you've got until 18 May for Reba Dickerson-Hill. The place to do the nomination is Template_talk:Did_you_know, so read that carefully and ping me here on your Talk Page if you need assistance. Good luck! Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:10, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mike. Will do. Sherryleehoward (talk) 16:14, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Mike, I just posted an article on William Henry Dorsey that I think would be a good nominee for DYK. I've taken a look at the nomination process but unclear on what or how long the hook should be. Any suggestions? Thanks. Sherryleehoward (talk) 15:54, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for contributing to the article Reba Dickerson-Hill. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, your own website, websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight, expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature, or that rely heavily on rumors and personal opinions, as one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. Kuru (talk) 01:02, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Kuru, thank you for your comments. But I'm at a loss because all of the issues you mention have nothing to do with the Reba Dickerson Hill article, which I wrote. It is sourced with verifiable and reliable sources, has no website references, and the facts were checked (that I learned from being a journalist for 30 years). I'm new to wikipedia (i've written about a dozen articles about Black and white artists), and a member of wikimedia in DC reviews all of my articles & this one was approved by her. As you'll see, much of the source info is from Black newspapers because they were the only ones writing about Black artists in the early 20th century. Sherryleehoward (talk) 16:19, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Sherry, the article looks great overall - nice job! Kuru's note is specifically about one of the reference sources (Prabook.com), rather than the article overall. Unfortunately, Prabook isn't a reliable source for use on Wikipedia. Its content is a mix of information scraped from other sources (which often aren't reliable themselves) or contributed by other users (which would be considered user generated content). It looks like the main claim was attributed to Prabook was her education, so hopefully there's another, reliable source that can verify the information. Politanvm talk 21:06, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. I wish the writer had been more specific. Your explanation gives me a place to start. I will find another reference & avoid prabook.com in the future. Sherryleehoward (talk) 15:40, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

Your biographies
[edit]Hi there, Sherryleehoward. I've just been looking through your well researched biographies, most of which are now rated B-class. I see you suddenly stopped editing in January. I hope you are still around and will begin contributing again soon. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:58, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi lpigott, I dropped out to work on another project. I'm a volunteer at the Paul Robeson House & Museum in Philadelphia & we just completed a major celebration of his 125th birthday. So, now I'm getting ready to head back into it. Thanks for noticing. Sherryleehoward (talk) 20:57, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Ipiglott. hope you are still around. I'm back with another wiki article on an artist named Bettina WitteVeen. i tried moving the article from my sandbox to wikipedia, but it looks like something went wrong. When I tried searching for it in wikipedia, the article does not exist. I did find it under Wikipedia: Bettina WitteVeen.
- I apparently did something wrong. Could certainly use your help. Sherryleehoward (talk) 22:00, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
