Learning to Edit!
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Shayes2, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Adam and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.
I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

You have an overdue training assignment.
[edit]Please complete the assigned training modules. --Dr Aaij (talk) 23:48, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- Shayes, I moved the "reliability" questions to User:Shayes2/sandbox. I'm glad you did the exercise, and I am glad you are taking notes in class, but I wish you had done it before class. Thanks, Dr Aaij (talk) 17:21, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Citation tags
[edit]Hi Shayes2. I see you've added a sound inline citation to Suva. That means you can remove the "citation needed" tag. Best of luck with your assignment! Haploidavey (talk) 16:30, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
- And I saw that your minor addition to Archery was reverted; I agree with that removal. That also means that you still have not fulfilled the "Critique an article" and the "Copyedit an article" assignments. It is better to receive partial credit for a late assignment than no credit at all. Dr Aaij (talk) 17:25, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Potential articles
[edit]Alabama Wildlife Federation https://www.alabamawildlife.org/
- That is not a bad idea--this is the outfit that set up Lanark? That should have some coverage in the news, and since the club itself exists since 1935 you should be able to find some material on it. Visit the library, and if I were you I'd want a bit of adventure: go downtown to the State Archives (Alabama Department of Archives and History, on Washington). That would be really cool. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:40, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- OK--there is more content in my note above than in your entire draft. Time to get to work. Dr Aaij (talk) 02:42, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
Old Alabama Town https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Alabama_Town
- That one exists already, but it's an easy target for the "Add to an article" exercise, where you only have partial credit. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:36, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:56, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Did you know
[edit]Did you know that there is the Alabama Wildlife Federation located in Millbrook, Al. It is also called Lanark which is the headquarters of the Alabama Wildlife Federation. There is also the Alabama Nature Center located on the same property. The ANC is used for school groups to teach young children about native wildlife and conservation. Shayes2 (talk) 14:17, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- Please see WP:DYKHOOK--you need something shorter, and it needs to be exciting. "Did you know this exists" isn't... Also, I hadn't seen this before because you didn't ping me. Let's make this a bit more exciting. Dr Aaij (talk) 17:58, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
I don't think you should write this article. It's a young woman who died a few years ago and had a book written about her--but she's not all that famous, and reliable sources in print (books, journals) seem to be lacking--such sources were indeed the requirement for the next article. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:00, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Ms Hays, it's two weeks later, and I see no second article. Dr Aaij (talk) 01:42, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
A page you started (Rosa Parks Museum) has been reviewed!
[edit]Thanks for creating Rosa Parks Museum, Shayes2!
Wikipedia editor Reb1981 just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:
Good start on page. I did some improvements while I was reviewing the article.

- Just wanted to drop a note that the article needs more independent, reliable sources. You can use WP:PRIMARY sources to back up basic details, but you should also have secondary in-depth sourcing as well, as only those can establish notability. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:46, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
Training module
[edit]Hi! I just wanted to let you know that you have a training module to complete, on Peer Review. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:39, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
