Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Shaun Bolden. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. bonadea contributions talk 07:54, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

About the article you created

[edit]

Hi Shaun, I understand that the process is a bit frustrating. Still, I'm afraid that removing speedy deletion tags from an article you have created is not allowed even when you are certain you've fixed the issue. The administrator who reviews the speedy deletion request will look at the article's talk page before deciding whether to delete it or not, and so you can make your case there. As a new editor, creating a new article is in fact the most difficult thing you can do on Wikipedia. Not only does the article have to be written in a neutral tone (which can be difficult to see if it's a topic we feel strongly about one way or another), but it has to be about a notable subject, according to Wikipedia's peculiar definition of notability. Basically, you have to find several independent, reliable sources which have written about the company in depth, and convey what they have said about the company - Wikipedia is not concerned with what anybody says about themselves, but what has been reported by reliable sources. If you want help with editing, the Wikipedia Tea House is a noticeboard for new editors, where friendly and experienced editors answer questions and offer help. Please note that since it appears (from your user name and the information in the article) that you are affiliated with the company, you'll need to disclose that, per Wikipedia's policy on editing with a conflict of interest.

It might seem like there's a frightful number of hoops to jump through, but there is help to be had. Again creating a new article is more complex than editing existing articles, and people who edit articles about themselves and their own affiliations can have a difficult time because it's hard to be neutral about such subjects. You might want to consider creating a draft article and submitting it for review by an uninvolved editor. Here is some more info about that.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Zenobia Records Group requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay.
