also i just joined the site to make that correction, this post is clearly in the wrong place. sorry.
did you read the article? and the comments there? its really bad. i wouldnt want someone to read it and believe it, its that bad. ie fantasy. they would then tell other people over a beer, and the lies would spread. not a good idea, especially when these pages pop up alot when googled further spreading untruths.
hi listen that article was stupid, there were numerous fundamental flaws to the entΥire theory, and it was pretty much spreading missinformation. im of the understanding that this site is for facts, not nonsense it should be deleted.

Great Vandal Blocking!

[edit]Hello Shanel/Archive 2,
I wish to thank you for your vote on my RfA. It has passed with a final tally of 59/0/0. If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 03:44, 31 December 2005 (UTC)When protecting a blocked anon's Talk page from them blanking or vandalizing it, semi-protection is usually good enough, as it still allows legitimate users to edit it. If you don't mind, I'll change that page to semi-protected. Owen× ☎ 02:01, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Blue eyed soul
[edit]Can you rollback the blue eyed soul article as well. I see you reverted the talk page for the article. Its not perfect, but that list was what started the debate. Sorry to be an inconvenience, but I don't know how to do that yet.
PS: I removed that dubious long list, but the article really needs to go back to 170.35.208.20. Sorry again and thanks.
Thanks, the newer page discussed the history and whatnot of the music. This page needs watching for wild edits.
Greetings, Shanel! I wanted to sincerely thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with a final result of 55/14/3. Your support means a lot to me! [edit]Thanks for your support on my request for adminship.
The final outcome was (80/3/0), so I am now an administrator. I was flattered by the level of support and the comments, so I'm under real pressure not to disappoint, thus if you have any queries, suggestions or problems with any of my actions as an admin then please leave me a note --pgk(talk) 11:41, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Lewis Hine
[edit]I noticed that you seem to have removed a bunch of stuff from Lewis Hine with the comment "rv blanking". It seems odd, particularly since the removal starts in the middle of a sentence. Did you perhaps revert the wrong version or something? It seems that there were two or three edits that appear to have the same time stamp. I was thinking of reverting the version from prior to the changes on December 9 unless there is something going on that I don't see. Morris 05:14, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit]re: Blocking of IP 199.43.172.254
[edit]Thank you for the note. There has been a distinct and rather severe pattern of vandalism coming from the anonymous users of that IP address. Please either see User talk:199.43.172.254#Vandalism Watch or do your own review of the contribution log. At the time, it seemed that the only possible way to shut down the vandalism and to send the message that this was unacceptable behavior was to block the anonymous user. Escalating warnings were having no effect.
Unfortunately, we still can't block only the anon users from an IP when they start their vandalism. The block stops everyone who attempts to connect from that IP, including users who have login IDs. That's why blocks on shared IPs are always done cautiously and with the recognition that they will inevitably affect some innocents. The decision about when the vandalism is severe enough to justify the risk is a difficult one. I regret that you got caught in that net.
You specifically asked about the timing. I suspect what you are seeing is a result of the somewhat inconsistent way that our systems deal with timezones. When I look at the block log, I see your comment that, by your calculations, "The block should have expired about 3 hours ago." In the log that I can see, your comment is recorded at 14:36, 20 January 2006. My comment from when I applied the block was recorded at 15:04, 13 January 2006. That would mean that the block had another 28 min before it would have run out. I think it's just timezone problems.
You also asked if did "something wrong". There is a general prohibition against unblocking yourself but that's intended as an injunction against unblocking yourself at the username level. Maybe we've just been lucky so far but it's fairly rare that an admin gets caught in an IP-level block. I don't think anyone would argue with your actions in this case.
Given your closeness to the situation, though, I would ask your help maintaining the vandalism watch on the anonymous contributions coming from this IP. Thanks. I hope that helps. Rossami (talk) 21:15, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have not attempted to contact the person on this IP's registration page. I've not had much luck with that as a general practice. Too often, those registrations are never updated. The person is long gone and the email disappears into a dead-letter box. However, if you are from the school, I'd hope that you're much closer to the situation and can help find the right person. I'd certainly encourage you to try. Thanks. Rossami (talk) 01:45, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Work via WikiProjects update
[edit]Hey Shanel,
Thanks for letting me know about completing the WPArts contacts. I just finished the WPHumanities contacts, and we had already done the WPEconBusiness listings. We're making progress! Thanks a lot! Now we have to get going with WPScience, WPHobbies, WPTechnology and WPPlaces. I hope you didn't mind me separating places from science (they were listed as Science -> Geography -> Places), simply because there are so many of them and they seemed distinct to me. We'll also have to recontact some others again, as you said. Thanks, Walkerma 05:04, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Hello again, I posted the update, and I also see that User:Gflores has started helping out (I think he's already listed all of the hobbies WPs for us!). I know what you are talking about now, people like me sayin "I know more" or you don't know sound bad. But this kid is weird. I did the Bomb! (espression) stub and there he is my second editor, I comment on a page half hour later him again, I edit the JLU page (stuff I never did before) and there he is again erasing what I wrote. Due to de evidence, and the fact that he admittet it is far more than obvious that he is becomong a fan, but he is still beggining. However I previously told him to avoid contact. I'm going to control myself but you have my blessing if you tell the other administrators to block me for a day or so if I reply with an attack again in order to cool me down. Before I keep expanding the attack (overexplaining myself, I get the unreal feeling that people are not going to gat my points right so I tend to over-explain myself). Also, can you block me if I ask you to?

Where does one report misleading edit summaries?
[edit]You moved my section on vandalism in progress to the archives saying it was beyond the scope, that is fine with me, since I wasn't sure where to include it and found that page to be the best fit. As you can see however the user in question abuses the minor edit flag, and does not include edit summaries, even though he has been warned about it. I was wondering what the appropriate page to post this would be. It is not an issue for RfC or Mediation since there is nothing disputed. Seraphim 23:49, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Esperanza!
[edit]Welcome, Shanel/Archive 2, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Great Listener!
[edit]Shanel, I award you this mini-barnstar for always listening to my rants and concerns in IRC. You're a great admin, and an even better friend! --lightdarkness (talk) 05:49, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Barnstar
[edit]Thanks!
[edit]Just wanted to drop a quick note to say thanks for making those changes to the image tag template. Much appreciated! ⇒ BRossow T/C 01:47, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

My RfA
[edit]"It's full of stars"
[edit]Wow! what a... wait it really isn't a surprise... Anyways I'm really happy to see that most wikipedians that come in touch with you love you as much as I do!!! hahaha I should get you one of those star things one of these days! Keep it real cutie!! --T-man... ""worst vandal ever"" 03:08, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
...actually
- Keep it real, babe!!
You, like, TOTALLY DESERVE IT!! hahahaha--T-man... ""worst vandal ever"" 04:16, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
The archive
[edit]I wanted to erase it. But NSLE advised me that it wouldn't look good and I should do an archive. I also replaced his name every where on my talk page. The reason for this is to erase reminders of unconfortable times. Then I realized it makes a great source for arbitrators on the RfA. I also placed negative comments done by other people. I just dont wan't negative energy on my talk page. --T-man... ""worst vandal ever"" 05:00, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Is it for real that you are going to me my new monitor? That'd be totally exciting!! I'd be so happy about it!!!--T-man... ""worst vandal ever"" 05:03, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Any ideas? I'd like to avoid no negattion words or mentioning names. "Don't care for:" didn't bother me, it reminds me a very funny sketch of DeNiro on SNL. I was going to move it according to your advice but when it came to rename the page I was in total blank--T-man... ""worst vandal ever"" 05:18, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Done--T-man... ""worst vandal ever"" 05:30, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
5,000!
[edit]Shanel my dear, I just wanted you to have my 5,000th edit. Thanks for all your help in my past 5k edits! --lightdarkness (talk) 03:40, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
So what now?
[edit]Someone blocked me from the vandal channel again. I'm assuming you're still there, so what's the news? Thanx 68.39.174.238 00:23, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm... she's out of town, but I'll go have a look. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 00:35, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
- The channel was set to invite-only mode by a channel operator who apparently didn't notice that the confirmation procedure was changed. The mode has been removed, so you should have access now. // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 01:13, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
User devolution
[edit]I thank you, my dear Shanel, for the substitution upon my "user-page."--Anglius 04:16, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
We missed you
[edit]2 days and I haven't seen you on IRC, you alive and well? Tawker 06:06, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
More vandalism by 205.188.116.71
[edit]Please see my comment on this user's talk page. Apologies if you're watching the page already and I'm just duplicating something I needn't. - nathanrdotcom (Talk • Contribs) 23:21, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- Apparently, he had a little friend who was blocked for vandalising the same article. - nathanrdotcom (Talk • Contribs) 04:09, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Legal threat block
[edit]I saw you blocked 207.61.117.133 for 24 hours for legal threats. The last time I checked doesn't legal threats sustain blocks for 1 month or longer per {{threatban}}? Or is that something that varies from user to user? Moe ε 00:29, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
