ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, ShakespeareFan00. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File:Modern Mongolian Language Example, 2016.ogv

[edit]

Hi, I'm contacting you because you're the only experienced user who's been involved with File:Modern Mongolian Language Example, 2016.ogv and because I have no idea how the file namespace works. This file has been marked as suitable for commons, but I don't think it really is: it apparently contains a commercial for Huawei (I don't understand the language so I don't know if the whole video is such a commercial or not, but there are bits near the start and also at the very end that clearly are). That seems to make it unsuitable for use anywhere on the English wikipedia, but also I'd imagine that, as a commercial, it's likely to be subject to copyright. What do you think? – Uanfala (talk) 20:24, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, You might want to raise the issues at FFD. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 21:04, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings.

Notice

The article Designer Castles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Little indication from cited sources or from source searches that Designer Castles passes either the software notability essay or the general notability guideline due to a lack of significant coverage in multiple, independent, reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. This is User:AstroHurricane001, although I've been unofficially semi-retired for many years. I just listed the author of the image as myself. I have been editing semi-infrequently for the past three or four years as an IP user.

If you want confirmation, you can click on "email user" for AstroHurricane001 and I will reply to you by whichever means you prefer. As you can see from my IP, I live in Kitchener-Waterloo, the same area where University of Waterloo is located (I am now a recent graduate of that university). I hope this can be a valid means of confirming the authorship of that image. If you do email me, please be patient as I don't often check that email.

The image used to be listed on one of the snowstorm articles. Now it's not, but I'd have no problem with it being uploaded to Commons as soon as we can confirm my authorship. Thanks!

Sincerely,

YW (AstroHurricane001) 2607:FEA8:1DE0:7B4:C4F3:4596:81B2:A579 (talk) 02:16, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Accidental rollback

[edit]

Fyi, didn't mean to rollback you. Finger slipped when scrolling on mobile. I've reverted myself. ♠PMC(talk) 19:41, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, you don't need to apologise.. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:42, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not suitable for Commons

[edit]

File:Justin Time logo.jpg

This file is not suitable for Commons. Mike2213 isn't the author, the date is wrong, the license is wrong, the source has no URL and the image has too much compression. Now it's tagged as "no source" on Commons. - Alexis Jazz 03:13, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I actually want to delete this file, but I don't know how to do it. Rick21784 (talk) 19:44, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:Singer Porsche DLS.jpg

Hello, I am Swaghousebuoy. I now have rationale for File:Singer Porsche DLS.jpg. Please check out my rationale. You can contact me at Swaghousebuoy (talk) 17:48, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Although I have no objection to this file deletion, I cannot see how I would object to the SD from the notice you placed on my talk page. Please tell me how it would be done, right here for anyone to see.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 13:30, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have objected, by means of leaving a message here, you can also mark the file concerned as {{hangon}} to object to the speedy deletion, and leave a message on the file concerened's talk page. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 15:17, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Copy to Wikimedia Commons reviewed by ShakespeareFan00 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   — Jeff G. ツ 11:08, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I assume you tagged this image for speedy deletion in error, as it is flagged with {{KeepLocal}}. Cheers, Fish+Karate 11:09, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Disambig of duplicatively titled media"

[edit]

Hey there, I'm a file mover! You seem to be quite a prolific requester when it comes to files (I have appeased many of your previous file move requests) and now I see that you've made even more (exhbits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). While most of them seem to be quite reasonable, I take issue with your most common reasoning: "disambig of duplicatively titled media". In future requests, do try to provide links to other files whose names might come into conflict with the file in question. And also, please request in the correct extension (a .png file cannot be moved to a .jpg file, as can be seen in exhibit 3). Regardless, these requests have been accomplished. Thank you for your contributions :) Esmost let's talk 12:18, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:Mu-metal cable.svg

[edit]

You want the file format changed to .jpg ? or is this just a typo ? - FlightTime (open channel) 12:32, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Same on File:Permalloy cable.svg. Also, you have asked for "loaded" in the name of one but not the other. They are both loaded cables. SpinningSpark 16:10, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I will get to File:Mu-metal cable.svg and make the requested move a little later, but I'm not able to change .svg's, besides I'm quite sure it was just an oversight. - FlightTime (open channel) 16:15, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just noticed the change to the request, thanx. Hope you're feeling better (I've been there many times :P ) - FlightTime (open channel) 16:39, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FlightTime, You might want to read what happened at meta to understand why SF00 has left. RhinosF1(chat)(status)(contribs) 06:48, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@RhinosF1: I had no idea, I was thinking just stressed out, thanx for the heads up. - FlightTime (open channel) 14:27, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FlightTime, No problem, I believe the situation has become too much at the moment for him. RhinosF1(chat)(status)(contribs) 16:58, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@RhinosF1: No doubt. - FlightTime (open channel) 16:59, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
