ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

ReferenceExpander cleanup

Hello, and thanks for volunteering for what really isn't a nice job...

Couple of things you need to remember when doing it. RefExp habitually dropped valuable content from the citations it expanded, such as authors, explanatory notes, basically anything it didn't understand, it dropped. We have to go back to the original citation and return any such content to the version we're repairing.

And if the original citation had died and redirected to the front page of the target website, the script just formatted a citation to that front page and carried on; so we end up with links to subpages of that website all given the same citation, which later scripts would merge to one named citation for what should be several different ones.

I happened to look at Ken Pomeroy, which you'd repaired but hadn't restored the authors to the affected citations. I've done that myself now, but you might want to check over any of your earlier ones to see if there's anything you missed. Hi, thank you for the heads up. I think I was a little too inexperienced with referencing when I came across the project, but I've got the hang of it now. I've taken a look at my earlier ones and added some stuff I missed. Specifically, I re-fixed up Karl Barry Sharpless, Beyond Good and Evil, Willow Grove (added author names); Brave New World (minor date addition) and COVID-19 Pandemic in Australia (changed from cite web to cite news).
