Hi Serge, Tisquesusa has removed your block message and my personal follow-up message. Their edit summary reads, and I quote, "fuck off with your bullshit". Is that acceptable? soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 07:49, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

List of post-metal bands
This article has been continually disrupted by anonymous users adding unsourced/unreliably sourced bands, could you protect it? ~SML • TP 02:08, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- I don't think it's quite bad enough to warrant protection yet. There's only been a few anonymous IP edits all month. I think it should be fine. Music genre article almost always require constant monitoring/maintenance, because there's always editors coming in and trying to tweak things to their personal opinions. That's probably all it needs for now, just a watchful eye for the occasional bad edit. Sergecross73 msg me 14:57, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Torna ~ The Golden Country
Good evening, Sergecross73!
I created a page for Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country under my namespace. Since I have never created an article on Wikipedia, I would like some feedback on what to do. I'm aware that my page is probably far from perfect, so is there anything I can do to bring it up to standard? --MomoQca (talk) 02:20, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- It’s actually looking pretty good for the most part. Content-wise, you’ve found some good stuff. (Didn’t realize it was part of the 2015 pitch for X2 - interesting.) It just needs a little bit more in the way of third party sources. Try using more of you Gamespots, IGN, Polygon, etc. Make sure all ideas are sourced. Do that, and I doubt you’ll have any opposition in making it be a stand-alone article. I won’t oppose it’s creation, and if you add more sources, I’ll defend it if others contest it. Sergecross73 msg me 02:33, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Done! I tried to find articles for the Gameplay section, but couldn't find anything from reputable websites. The only thing I could find was this video from Nintendo of America's YouTube channel, which is as official as it can get. The problem is that I don't know how to properly source it. --MomoQca (talk) 03:43, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- You can just do it how you source anything else for now, others can clean it up. I think its ready for the mainspace. You can move it whenever. Notify me when you do, and I'll try to help maintain it. (Though I'm currently pretty busy currently, so I probably won't be able to add to it substantially for the time being.) Administrators' newsletter – August 2018
News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2018).
- After a discussion at Meta, a new user group called "interface administrators" (formerly "technical administrator") has been created. Come the end of August, interface admins will be the only users able to edit site-wide JavaScript and CSS pages like MediaWiki:Common.js and MediaWiki:Common.css, or edit other user's personal JavaScript and CSS. The intention is to improve security and privacy by reducing the number of accounts which could be used to compromise the site or another user's account through malicious code. The new user group can be assigned and revoked by bureaucrats. Discussion is ongoing to establish details for implementing the group on the English Wikipedia.
- Following a request for comment, the WP:SISTER style guideline now states that in the mainspace, interwiki links to Wikinews should only be made as per the external links guideline. This generally means that within the body of an article, you should not link to Wikinews about a particular event that is only a part of the larger topic. Wikinews links in "external links" sections can be used where helpful, but not automatically if an equivalent article from a reliable news outlet could be linked in the same manner.
- The WMF Anti-Harassment Tools team is seeking input on the second set of wireframes for the Special:Block redesign that will introduce partial blocks. The new functionality will allow you to block a user from editing a specific set of pages, pages in a category, a namespace, and for specific actions such as moving pages and uploading files.
You are invited to join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga#Regarding film production companies. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 17:23, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
Deletion Of Mic Diggy
There is a new reliable source which the active participants in the AFD agree's with [1] It's always seemed to me that WP:MUSICBIO criteria 11 Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network.
is the strongest claim to notability. [1] does seem to provide some sourcing for such a claim (and also MUSICBIO criteria 2, though there's no currently accepted chart for Zambia)Vicmullar PS i was given the go ahead to recreate the article and cite the new references. See the artcle and see talk pages of active participants
- Vicmullar You presented that same info at WP:DRV today, and the DRV closed as delete after you presented that, the same as the 2 AFDs prior. Its very clear the consensus is to delete the article. No editor has the right or ability to over-ride that consensus. It's failed 2 AFDs and a DRV. Its time to drop this for now. Sergecross73 msg me 19:23, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
No no no you are mistaken. See their talk pages. That is new info.Vicmullar (talk) 19:27, 14 August 2018 (UTC) The source is reliable. Check their talk pages and their comments. Ps when i presented that, dicussions went on on talk pages. Vicmullar (talk) 19:29, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know who you're referring to, since you have not linked me to such a discussion, but it doesn't matter, no one editor has the right to just override an AFD or DRV like that. We don't recreate articles that just failed 2 AFDs and a DRV. Period. That's not how Wikipedia works. Sergecross73 msg me 19:32, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Sergecross73
- is this all because i left you out? See, Barkeep49's page Strike and the rest, I will escalate the issue if need be.Because there is a new reliable source that actually counts and every one agrees, and i reached out to the closer too. your opinion is not wikipedia. I don't know why it was deleted in the first place because i didn't see the first version Vicmullar (talk) 19:40, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- No, this is because it failed 2 AFDs and a DRV, and you recreated the article hours later. That. Is. Not. Acceptable. Even if this source is reliable (I'm not certain it is), most people still require more than 2 sources when deciding if a WP:BLP meets the WP:GNG. Having 2 marginally reliable sources does not equate to an automatic "keep" conclusion. Also, I've been looking through your edits, since you continue to refuse to link me to any of these conversations, and all you're getting is some wishy washy "Hmm maybe it's reliable but I'm not sure" or people saying they don't want to argue with your further. No one else besides yourself is clamoring for this article to be recreated. Sergecross73 msg me 19:43, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

There are more than 2 sources, the ZDM is reliable too. Look i get if you don't want to help me, you don't know how frustrating it is tp work on something for weeks and you finally get to finish it and people treat it like shit without even checking the evidence you provided. Its cool tho. Bless Vicmullar (talk) 19:49, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- Not a single person has agreed with the sentiment that all 3 sources are reliable. Look, I'm sorry it was a time-sink for you, but you shouldn't have taken on the project of creating an article without understanding how the website works. I've reviewed your comments in these discussions. No offense, but its clear you don't understand many of the website's core concepts. I recommend doing more learning before taking on big projects like creating articles, and hopefully next time you'll put together an article that won't be found to be failing the website's standards. "There’s way too much in universe summary stuff in here right now."
Give me some specific examples of "way too much" of "plot" in an article where the game appearances are condensed into a single sentence or 2-3 sentences at most. --SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 04:09, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- For starters, the first and third paragraphs in the “Appearances” section, for example. Just because you didn’t name it the “plot” section doesn’t change that it’s excessive in-universe description of her. Sergecross73 msg me 10:55, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Really? The first paragraph isn't even about the "plot" of any game, it's character backstory and official characteristics. This is taken mainly from online material and books (especially New Legends of Project Soul), as cited in refs, you can play the games without learning much/most of it from "plot" (not even the adventure modes or endings). And what exactly parts you deem "excessive"? By "exactly" I mean it. --SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 11:20, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Why does that matter? Why would content not even present in any of the games somehow be exempt from trimming? That aside, I can gladly go over things that should be trimmed, if that’s what you really want. I’m not getting that vibe though, this all feels very combative and aggressive, all over the backstory of some fictional fighter in a video game. It’s not that serious. Please step away and calm down a bit before discussing further. Sergecross73 msg me 11:43, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Because it's only shown in the games, not told. For example, she's shown forging Mekkimaru, but the game is about fighting and she's creating her weapons (all of them) in between fighting and it's not gameplay. You can see her being cold and even sort of cruel (really rather ruthless) from her before/after lines, but not told about it. The article isn't only for those who played the games anyway. And this is what you learn about her backstory from the "Plot" section of Soul Edge, if to try any of that "plot" there: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Edge#Plot_and_characters (spoilers: you learn LITERALLY nothing). And you know what "feels very combative and aggressive" to me? This: [2] without any provocation or previous interaction (then followed by [3] and more). I've complained publicly, repeatedly, no one did anything about it. And now you want to talk about me being "very combative and aggressive" in response to more from the author of this shit that everyone ignored because the guys apparently has buddies and feels like he can do it (and can do it, apparently)? SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 12:03, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter what the format is or where its from, its excessive fictional detail. I also have no idea what those links about TheLongTone have to do with our exchange right here. This why I'm asking you to calm down and come back when you've had some time to clear your head. You're not making any sense. Sergecross73 msg me 12:26, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
So you told me I'm "very combative and aggressive", but you too (of course, like everyone) have nothing to say about me being told I'm "cruising for a bruising" by him? Should I told you there you're "cruising for a bruising" (instead of my "OK, I'm sorry)", so as not be "very combative and aggressive" and for you to say nothing about it, and for me to make "any sense" about the situation? Maybe I should act like him, like, I don't know, let's say delete the newest article about some locomotive (there are thousands of these) and write preemptive threats on a talk page of a random autistic fellow busy writing about them trains right now? Because it's evident no one cares about this kind of behavior in the least. Would be also be ignored? SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 12:39, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- I was not aware of that interaction, and I'm not sure why you think I would be. Do you this I'm omnipresent, watching over every thing that happens on Wikipedia? Do you think I watch your every edit? I don't. He shouldn't say things like that. I can give him a warning if you like. But you're both being rather rude and aggressive in your writing, and neither of you have received any real repercussion for it, and it has nothing to do with our talk about the Taki article. Sergecross73 msg me 12:45, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- OK, I was snippy & should not have been. But it was a response to a gf reversion to a redirect which I encountered while new page patrolling; snake's response was to instantly revert the edit & accuse me of vandalism. It clearly wasn't vandalism, as I pointed out.TheLongTone (talk) 13:02, 20 August 2018 (UTC).
- And that part is correct, as long as it was a good-faith move by you, then its fundamentally not vandalism. I wish you'd both stop with all of this before it escalates to ANI. Both of you. Make short, direct, succinct comments about the article, not about editors. Stop with all the nonsense in between. Sergecross73 msg me 13:12, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

I don't care about any of your supposed girlfriend problems. Still thinking of taking it to ANI since you refused to go away and began stalking me and and my work here, extremely disrespectful as ever. Also you just lied again (the attack came out of nowhere before I ever learned about the erasure. And the fact you too accused me of vandalism, perhaps even first, and for merely reverting your destruction of my work-in-progress ([4] - yes, I checked, you was the first to talk about "vandalism"). Hope you don't need an "English translation" of any of that. But you can still apologize and leave me in peace. I'm giving you that's one last chance. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 13:40, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Pretty certain "gf" refers to "good faith", considering the context, not "girlfriend". Other than that, you're both using the wrong definition of vandalism then, and I explicitly asked both of you to stop talking about editors, and focus on content. I'm not going to ask again. Sergecross73 msg me 13:59, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
I've officially asked him to apologize to me and the others. Meanwhile, since you're ready to trim plot related stuff, and I'm not being ironic, I've got something tagged to be done: [5] I did shorten it a bit but it's way too long, needs to be really summarized without missing key details (like not erasing names of travelling companions and such). Something in the style like the other sections. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 14:20, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

I pretty much asked that of him multiple times here, both in regards to myself and with LongTone, without any effect. I just saw from your edit summary that you have a draft of it, can you publish your draft into the main article, I'm sure it is notable as there are a lot of editors can help if there's an error. - My draft is here. I don’t think it’s ready to be published, but feel free to edit it if you like. In general, Wikipedia requires you to write more about “out of universe” content. - Yes, I saw that, and appreciate it. Let me look it over and see if there’s anything I can add, and I’ll move it to the mainspace in a couple days. There’s no rush to get it published, but it is important to get it right - there’s a lot of experienced editors that edit in the video game subject area, and many who move to get rid of character articles if they don’t meet the standards. It would be good to finish it soon though, so it can exist for the releases of Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Sergecross73 msg me 02:16, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

- I’m about to be offline for the night, but if you don’t understand the GNG yet, you can read up on it here. It might help you understand where I’m coming from here. Sergecross73 msg me 02:29, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- ow, alright thanks for the info and for working for this article to be published. Riosk69 (talk) 02:27, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Reviewers really only confirm that articles aren’t complete hoaxes/vanadalism/garbage, they don’t really confirm whether or not sources meet the WP:GNG, which is the ultimate standard we need to clear here. Sergecross73 msg me 02:25, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- One reviewer marked it as reviewed before it was reverted, alright Thank you for that. (update) I just suddenly interests to her because of her appearance in super smash ultimate. Riosk69 (talk) 02:22, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Apologize as i copypasted it, i made some rush, I did make some changes on your draft User:Sergecross73/Lucina, Btw i have nothing to add more, can you check it our, so you can maybe published later on, thanks. Riosk69 (talk) 01:49, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Look, I’m trying to work with you here, but you can’t just steal my work and copy/paste it into the mainspace like that - we need to show WP:ATTRIBUTION. Also, it’s still not ready. Stop rushing this. You’re very new to Wikipedia. You need to slow down and figure out how this all works. Sergecross73 msg me 01:46, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Let me look it over when youre done, and I’ll do a search and see if there’s anything else I can add too, and maybe we can give it a shot with publishing it... Sergecross73 msg me 01:16, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- I'm sure it is notable, the same looks of article like Captain Olimar and Lucina has receptions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riosk69 (talk • contribs) 00:36, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
FireStorm28
Hey, I'm pretty sure that User:Fireball24fire is evading his block as a new user, User:FireStorm28. I've been watching his edits and, while he has been benign, his upload history confirms his identity. He has uploaded at least two unnecessary non-free images (Mario Kart 8 for example); this is the same behavior he was blocked for 4 years ago. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 06:48, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, the more I look into it and remember this guy, the more parallels I see. Today, he tried to force a Mario Kart 8 image on an article that didn’t make any sense, something he did in the past. I agree, it’s him. Sergecross73 msg me 03:03, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. I immediately suspected it was him from his name and his editing patterns a couple weeks (months?) ago. The sudden tinkering of images was the smoking gun. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 07:06, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yup. His reaction to being blocked - randomly blanking his entire talk page and saying something incoherent like ""This is my edit!" - is also the sort of thing he did when he was blocked under his old account too. Sergecross73 msg me 12:36, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Either that, or list the names of the people who wrote the musicOMH article. Which do you find better? dannymusiceditor oops 15:15, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- I generally don't mention reviewers/writers names, as I feel like most of your average readers don't really care unless its a particularly well-known writer or something, and they kind of clutter up the prose sometimes too. Considering other writer's names aren't included in that section either, it'd probably be best to go the "re-ordering the sentence" route, unless you particularly care one way or another. Jill Valentine
Hi Sergecross73. You might recognise me from various discussions at Talk:Nine Inch Nails, this unpleasantness, and a bunch of other places I can't recall. I know you only commented briefly at FAC2, and ended up pretty much just giving a 'neither' vote, but I was wondering if you'd be interested in giving Jill Valentine#Reception a quick read and seeing if there's anything else I can do before I renominate the article again? I've been working on the article for several months at this point, so am pretty happy with it, but would be interested in any feedback from any user who previously commented on the article. I've already tried contacting SlimVirgin/Sarah about collaborating, but she didn't wanna get involved, so I understand if you don't either. Thanks. Homeostasis07 (talk) 00:58, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- Oh man, sorry things got heated last time. I had honestly forgotten about it - I always remember you more from music articles. Anyways, yes, I’ll try to look at it some. Feel free to prod me in a couple days if it looks like I forgot. I’ve got a busy week ahead, so I very well could. Sergecross73 msg me 01:13, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- No worries. In all fairness to you, I was being a bit of a whiny tool during that "unpleasantness". ;) And take your time getting back to me. Of all the 20-something people I've contacted about this article, you're actually just the 3rd or 4th person who hasn't either ignored me or said they're not touching it with a bargepole. So I appreciate it. Homeostasis07 (talk) 22:00, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Deathrash
Could you redirect this to Death metal#Deathrash? ~SML • TP 20:05, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, though please engage in discussion if anyone ends up objecting to this change. Looking through the page history, it seems like this was once a controversial article. But I feel comfortable in helping as long as its just creating it as a redirect. Sergecross73 msg me 21:02, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

- Following a "stop-gap" discussion, six users have temporarily been made interface administrators while discussion is ongoing for a more permanent process for assigning the permission. Interface administrators are now the only editors allowed to edit sitewide CSS and JavaScript pages, as well as CSS/JS pages in another user's userspace. Previously, all administrators had this ability. The right can be granted and revoked by bureaucrats.
- Because of a data centre test you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for up to an hour on 12 September and 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time. The time when you can't edit might be shorter than an hour.
- Some abuse filter variables have changed. They are now easier to understand for non-experts. The old variables will still work but filter editors are encouraged to replace them with the new ones. You can find the list of changed variables on mediawiki.org. They have a note which says
Deprecated. Use ... instead
. An example isarticle_text
which is nowpage_title
. - Abuse filters can now use how old a page is. The variable is
page_age
.
- The Arbitration Committee has resolved to perform a round of Checkuser and Oversight appointments. The usernames of all applicants will be shared with the Functionaries team, and they will be requested to assist in the vetting process. The deadline to submit an application is 23:59 UTC, 12 September, and the candidates that move forward will be published on-wiki for community comments on 18 September.
Wii u intro paragraph
I get why you reverted my edit, I thought I was seeing the same statement on the Wii u having a weak lineup and no clear vision brought up again in the next sentence but paraphrase but I can see your point on my change is not necessary. Also this might sound obvious but what is your opinion with the brought up praises and criticisms in the intro paragraph being referenced, because if I think about adding any more sources to them, others might not approve because there might be a limit to it or they do not need to be sourced in that paragraph. I am asking you this question because those already used sources do not source to the other praises and criticism it got. Hkw002 (talk) 11:06, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi there. No problem. And to answer your question - it kind of depends. The opening paragraphs of an article are called the WP:LEAD. The lead doesn't need to be sourced, but that's because everything written in the lead is supposed to be a summary of what is covered later in the rest of the article. So, in theory, the lead doesn't need sources, because it should already be sourced in the body of the article (like the reception section.) Does that make sense? Sergecross73 msg me 16:10, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- I think I understand your meaning, I've checked both the lead and reception paragraphs again and it seems that makes the references to the wii u's criticisms in the lead paragraph redundant since those criticisms seems to be covered the reception body but with different sources. Hkw002 (talk) 11:06, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's a little weird that difference references are used, but as long as they're accurately verifying the content, it's not really an issue. Sergecross73 msg me 12:44, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was not talking about using different sources, I was just wondering do you think it would a good idea to leave the mention references in lead paragraph alone, even though it seems to be redundant, because I remembers in the linked page about lead paragraphs you mention seems to says that editors should balance the desire to avoid adding redundant sources in the lead paragraph or perhaps I missing the point. Although it not a big deal that something should done something but I am wonder if more people might add more sources to support the praises and criticisms in the lead. Hkw002 (talk) 11:06, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- I apologize, it can be a little difficult to figure out what exactly you're alluding to in these comments sometimes. Short version: I don't see any glaring issues, so I think the article is largely fine. If the article were in perfect shape, the sources in the WP:LEAD would be moved down to the reception section where the respective content is discussed there, but this isn't really an urgent, high priority fix, as long as all the content is relatively well sourced and correct. Hi there again, sorry I had took me a while to responded, I have been busy. It is kinda hard to be more specific on what I have been discussing so I do not mean to sound gibberish, but on said I do believe on you said is true if it was redundant it would have been moved, I was just thinking if it would hurt if I too add references to what still unsourced up in the lead paragraph since people have added sources to its criticism and sales history even though it is expanded below. I was just being cautious on adding anything so people would not have to worry. Anyway I appreciate your advice you gave me the last week and i will make sure I do take in to consideration what you mention since I find it helpful. Hkw002 (talk) 02:41, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
