[edit]Well, based on this project, it appears WMF could be on the cusp of creating a daily chart that is actually useful. This could put us out of business?--Milowent • hasspoken 17:37, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
Red link intentional?

Next week
[edit]I realize I am out of town Sunday through Wednesday of next week, making doing the report before late Wednesday (and thus later than anyone wants) not possible. Any chance you would be willing to do next week, and I would do the two following weeks? I realize this is an imposition to request, I'm still waiting for an eager newbie to jump in help us sometimes! If you cannot do, I will proceed as planned above. Cheers.--Milowent • hasspoken 23:46, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hey, Seren, I'm still able to do this week as well, since I missed the prior week and had doubled up. I got started yesterday using TopView as a rought guide (User:Milowent/Sandbox3) and plan to finish in the next 24 hours. (Let me know if that doesn't work for you.) Assuming we can fix these issues you noted for Andrew.--Milowent • hasspoken 12:33, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
Seren did you get my email to your hotmail account, and in-wiki email re the external inquiry on the Top 25? if not, email me at milowent at gmail dot com and i'll fill you in. Thanks.--Milowent • hasspoken 15:13, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- The "Sam" person is a real wikimedia person, so I assume the press inquiry is real. But privacy is of course up to you. Do you have a twitter (or facebook) or something? We could easily DM through that to discuss. I'm at https://twitter.com/YanceyMc and https://www.facebook.com/milowent --Milowent • hasspoken 15:40, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
Signpost behind
[edit]The Signpost has essentially skipped a week (the last issue changed its issue date to April 14), so I suggest we combine the most recent top 10 and the one you'll do next into one Signpost article. I'll get the draft started and let you amend once the newest chart is ready. If that doesn't sound OK, let me know. BTW, did you get back in contact with WMF? Am interested to know what comes of that inquiry.--Milowent • hasspoken 11:48, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Serendipodous, just been through this. Thanks for your work; I love the tone of this section on the SP. Do you mind my "M" for million? ... there are a lot of instances, and it's pretty neat for readers, I hope. A few common terms I've unlinked. And you might benefit from installing the dash button, which is quick and easy to install and to use on an article, saving you time.
Thx again. I've sent a similar note to Millowent. Tony (talk) 10:50, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Per [1], next Signpost is delayed until May 15. I'll take a whirl at integrating current To 25 report into your draft Traffic Report for another two-weeker. [edit]Mind if I append new Top 25 to the Signpost draft, like we did last time? Open to ideas. I didn't parse through TopViews very much on mine, but I didn't see any glaring problems in a quick look. I did note that Sinead O'Connor was #28 on the WP:5000, ahead of the Egypt air crash (#28), but the crash was ahead of Sinead on TopViews. That far down though, the numbers are not that far apart.--Milowent • hasspoken 15:58, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

- BTW, if you have new report ready in next 24 hours, you can just append the new top 10 to the draft signpost report, we can really catch up with another combined issue. But if you don't, no worries.--Milowent • hasspoken 19:02, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Top 25 (July 3 to 9, 2016)
[edit]Hi, I see that you prepared the Top 25 list for that week. The footer says that [you] exclude articles that have almost no mobile views (~2% or less) [...] because they are very likely to be automated views based on our experience and research of the issue
. The Earth article actually had more views than 5 other that were included and 7.1% mobile views. Does the same reasoning still stand and you simply raised the threshold? Or did you look closer and confirmed that those were indeed automated views?
I was at first interested in the cause of this surge of views, as it has been going on for a month now. Then somebody pointed me to the very helpful list that you compile. Assuming those views were automated, any ideas about the purpose of a bot that visits one page so many times and for so long?
One redditor noticed that Philippines actually experience a similar bump in "Earth" Google searches, so could those actually be genuine page views?
Thanks! --Jan Winnicki * 20:09, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Sedna tonic
[edit]You deleted reference to Sedna tonic in the disambig page Sedna. It was marketed in Australia for around 30 years, 20 years of which it had a significant cocaine content which was blamed for erratic behavior of some of its adherents who imbibed a little too freely. It was an important sideline of the Seppelts wine company and was the subject of several legal prosecutions against pharmacies in South Australia. It is likely that it had similar histories in other countries where it was sold. The fact that it is no longer available does not make it less interesting. Interview invitation from a Wikipedia researcher in University of Minnesota
[edit]Hello Serendipodous,
I am Bowen Yu, a Ph.D. student from GroupLens Research at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Currently, we are undertaking a study about turnover (editors leaving and joining) in WikiProjects within Wikipedia. We are trying to understand the effects of member turnovers in the WikiProject group, in terms of the group performance and member interaction, with a purpose of learning how to build successful online communities in future. More details about our project can be found on this meta-wiki page.
I would like to invite you for an interview if you are interested in our study and willing to share your experience with us. The interview will be about 30 - 45 minutes via either Skype or Google Hangout. You will receive a $10 gift card as compensation afterwards.
Please reach me at bowen@cs.umn.edu if you are interested or have any questions.
Thank you, Bowen

[edit]- Seren, so Trump got 12,331,880 views -- is that a new record? I feel like we got close sometime earlier in the year but haven't scanned yet for it. Looks like 9 of the top 10 are election related, and we may have a new record for related topics in the top 25. The exceptions appear to all be British royalty-related?! E.g., Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon and George VI, due to The Crown (TV series)?--Milowent • hasspoken 13:45, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
- One could argue we documented the fact that Trump was going to win, see User:Milowent/sandbox6, haven't written up opening explanation yet. Of course Trump lost the popular vote, but if Wikipedia is also measure of voter enthusiasm, he crushed Hillary for the entire cycle. Would love to hear any thoughts you have about the predictive value (anecdotal or otherwise) of what we saw since June 2015.--Milowent • hasspoken 22:20, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
