Question from Lepke99 on User:Lepke99/sandbox (04:14, 12 January 2024)
Hello and Happy New Year for 2024 and Thank You for all your advice so far!!
When I started to work on the article I am still working on, once I have accidentally submitted it as I was so much unaware of how things work with Wikipedia editing and creating new content. It was rejected, and the reasons why were useful information for my work. Mostly it was the lack of references and also the picture I used before was a screenshot picture. Now that I am almost ready I am worried that when I will submit it (again) it will be rejected (again). So I would kindly ask if it was possible to take a look at it and let me know if there might be something seriously lacking, that could be a reason for rejection. The main challenge I am having that this Buddhist Master is very well known in Taiwan and there is a wide array of content available about him in Chinese but hardly anything in English. So most of my references are from one of his English language books that are well written and easy to be used for his wiki article. These sources might not be considered as secondary so I am not sure if these references could get approved. It was also mentioned that it might be questionable that this person deserves a wiki page. In Taiwan the most famous (late) Buddhist Master is (late) Master Sheng Yen, who also has a very good wiki page. His first student was this person, Master Gouru and he has been active all his life thus I think it would be useful for many people to be able to find information on him through Wikipedia.
As for the content I still need to add one paragraph or two, but my main concern is related to general format, refereneces, and other issues I might not even be aware of...
Thank you very much for taking time for my concern! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have a Nice Day! --Lepke99 (talk) 04:14, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Lepke99: from a look at your draft, there appear to be no inline sources that are not just published by the subject of the article, bar one of them. To have an article on Wikipedia, the subject of the article needs to pass the WP:GNG - which means multiple, non-trivial pieces of coverage in reliable sources. For the referencing issue I would recommend having a look at WP:REFB, and to further improve the article, have a look at WP:YFA. Best of luck! ser! - Thank You very much for the prompt response and accurate information. Will improve the article regarding notability and references based on the links You have kindly provided.
- Many Thanks! Lepke99 (talk) 14:43, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from BinaryBlazer (18:06, 15 January 2024)
Hello! When I want to publish an article about software, I want to include a "programming language" field. Is there a way I can add multiple programming languages? --BinaryBlazer (talk) 18:06, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @BinaryBlazer: and welcome to Wikipedia! To add multiple languages in an infobox (which I presume is what you mean - if not, please feel free to clarify and I can try help you better), you can include them in the form of a horizontal list. There's a tutorial on how to do this available over at MOS:HLIST. Best of luck with your content creation! ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 18:10, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from DSG is over on Museum of Homelessness (03:45, 25 January 2024)
This is applicable to both 27 and 29 of citations, I believe. --DSG is over (talk) 03:45, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @DSG is over:, I believe this would be a matter of discussion for the article's talk page. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 14:25, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
