Adminship nomination

[edit]

Thanks so much for letting me know about that. I've posted on the page. ♥purplefeltangel 20:28, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Scimitar/Archive 003. Thank you for submitting an entry to the pre-round and/or participating in round one of WP:MIND. I sincerly hope you enjoyed it. Round Two, which I have made a bit more difficult than round one, will open at approximately 2 PM EST, Sunday, July 24. In addition, the voting for pre-round has also been extended until the end of round two. I hope to see you at Round Two, so prepare for some WikIFun!!! The bible

[edit]

Firstly let me say that I am sorry to have to bother you.

Secondly, I wish to let you know that a recent VFD that you took part in has closed. The result was that 32 people voted to keep all individual bible verses as seperate articles, and 34 voted that they shouldn't (2 abstensions, and 3 votes for both). This is considered by standard policy not to be a consensus decision (although the closing admin stated that it was a consensus to keep them).

Thirdly, the subject has now been put to a survey, so that it may remain open until there is a clear consensus for what appears to be a difficult issue to resolve. You may wish to take part in this survey, and record a similar vote to the one you made at the VFD there. The survey is available at Wikipedia:Bible verses.

Ah, wonderful! I had wondered why my Googling "Lawrence Tribe" had turned up so few hits for someone obviously important. Thanks for letting me know. It's a good article, too. jglc | t | c 19:09, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

PKK butchered ??

[edit]

Everything in the history of this organization is very important. I do not see myself in a position to select which activity is more important and which one is not. How could anyone can see themselves is a mind boiling thing for me. This organization brought financial breakdown, killed the political system (including parlementers), There is no other organization, and goverment in the recent history killed more Kurds than PKK, PKK integrated "terrorism law" to Turkish justice system and Turkey's daily life. If you break the document into sections, I can not accept my name associated with it. AS I have SEEN examples of people breaking the document integrity, and then document turns into a mud. I have also seen these changes performed willingly, to make the document fit one specific idealogy, by assigning importance. If there is one document that will be larger than the "so called page limit". It should be this document. Can YOU protect the integrity of the document if it is composed of multiple pages??

Thanks for your remarks about my writing style, but it does really answer the question that faces right now. The question is how do you put yourself in the postion of selecting one thing over another. And PKK can not be associated with Canada. Canada is a democratic goverment which its military did not kill unborn child, PKK is very sensitive issue, which killed mothers who were pregnant. Anything related with PKK is sensitive. In Turkey, there is a saying "there's a certain way to do things" is associated with Rulers, more than democracies. Canadians are good examples of democratic people.
Simple example for a baise: You put back the APO picture at the main page. I saw another picture yesterday, from a Iraq kurdish web side, that was showing PKK shooting four kurdish villager. I could not look at that picture and I would never promote that kind of visuals but to make a point "Why not include that picture on the main page?? instead of APO." There is a page for APO right? How do you make a decision to include protestors image but not the opposing side?
I always wanted to be fair, but human nature we are subjective beings. I have a side in this issue. I can see how my sentences are baised on one side. I try to make them unbaised, but I feel there is no way I can achive this goal. I will be baised for the values that I think important. I appreciate anyone who tries to keep this system intact, BUT editing requires a lot of responsibilities. It is not a neutral activity. When you drastically change things, that amplifies this effect. I just do not want to discuss this issue. I will think on this, and decide to spend or not to spend my time on this page. Thanks for everything.

I understand you are being frustrated. Please rememember the wikipedia policy: Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers. Understand that extreme views regading PKK is not something uncommon. I am tring to reason with him. You may want to create an article under your userspace temporarily. --Cool Cat My Talk 22:00, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'll just wait a bit before editting. I don't have a problem with extreme views, but this was hardly my decision. I mentioned it on the talk page, nobody disagreed until now. I just don't particularly like being accused of having a pro-PKK bias. If you guys feel I'm doing a bad job, I have no problem backing off. Also, I've read the policy on biting, but I appreciate the thought. All the best. --Scimitar parley 22:13, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I posses some anti-PKK bias, whatever that means. So I need people like you with no to little knowlege/bias to NPOVise the article and improve quality with an objective manner. I frankly cant see my POV. I am not going to comment on what you are doing because I am not watching it too closely, I just glance at the changes. I trust you will improve the article. I do not want to interfere with your edits. --Cool Cat My Talk 22:36, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I do not want to take sides for the sake of evading rever wars and other crap. Contraversial articles are always a pain in the ass. --Cool Cat My Talk 22:36, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I just hope you dont get over stressed. You are doing a fine job under pressure. --Cool Cat My Talk 22:36, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

GNAA FAC

[edit]

I have some comments about your objection. Yes, I listed timecop as the founder of the GNAA and the president of the group. I also listed another member: rolffle. I intend to list other major and some minor members and some of what they have done. The reason why I cannot put real names in the article is that I cannot find such information. However, if I did, I will publish it. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 17:46, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Maoririder issue

[edit]

I honestly think the guy is autistic. He's exhibiting much of the same habits that SuperDude115 did before he settled down. I think it's an excellent idea to tag anything unsuitable as a speedy delete. I've fixed three of his nanostubs in the last twenty minutes...and I'm at work! Slow day, though. Hopefully, he'll realize that he's wasting his time and settle down. I'd hate to see this go before a request for comment hearing, but if he doesn't straighten up and fly right, we may have no choice. Keep me posted, OK? Thanks. - Lucky 6.9 18:14, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cool beans, my friend. I'm doing my best not to lash out since this whole thing is becoming rather frustrating. I think a firm hand is warranted, so don't feel bad about getting on his case. - Lucky 6.9 18:19, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't think he is a troll, he reminds me of some people I have met in peson. They were not autistic, but did have mental health issues. I suspect his social skills are sadly lacking, and he may not be suited for wikipedia, but I think he is honestly and in good faith trying to help, albiet often he is less helpful than he thinks he is. DES (talk) 18:21, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • If he doesn't settle down, yes. An RfC is definitely in order if for no other reason than to stem the tide of these nanostubs. That "Strider" thing has got to go. That wouldn't cut it over at Simple the way it stands now. Gotta cut, but stay in touch. - Lucky 6.9 18:31, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Looks like a short block has been imposed on him anyway. I hope that wakes him up. If it doesn't...well, we have to do what we have to do. Two billion Internet sites and this one's in the top 200. I don't think he realizes the scope of what he's doing or failing to do. - Lucky 6.9 20:32, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Maorider

[edit]

The volume of very low quality contributions from Maorider seems too great to ignore. I am sort of interested in placing a 8 hour block on him, just to emphasize that the Wikipedia community is serious about the guidelines he's breaking. However, I'm not sure that this is considered a legit reason for a block.... any opinion on the use of a block in this case? ike9898 19:13, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

Still more Maoririder

[edit]

I have to say that I'm relieved that he's been blocked for a few hours. As for the Cloverhill Bakery article, I thought I'd at least take a whack at it, but their website wasn't much help. If it is deleted, even with expansion, it might be a good lesson for Maoririder to choose his subjects better. Even so, it's more notable than Andover Elementary School. I'd have voted to speedy that, but the school inclusionists would have had a cow. So, I tweaked it. Still not much. - Lucky 6.9 21:30, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • LOL! Great minds think alike. I'm on the fence where school stubs are concerned. If the article is even remotely encyclopedic, I have no problem with them. It's the "bored student substubs" as I like to call them that really steam my fleckmans. They're usually defended even though they're clearly speedy deletion candidates. Oh, well. We've made everyone happy for the time being. - Lucky 6.9 23:29, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sorry for butting in, but...."steam my fleckmans"? WTF? Joyous (talk) 23:49, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
  • Thanks for asking. I really didn't want to nominate myself and the last two nominations were just grueling. I was still learning the ropes and I let my attitude at the time get the best of me. I got the popular vote both times, but no consensus. I've been thinking of taking another whack at it, though. RC patrolling would be a helluva lot easier. - Lucky 6.9 23:40, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re:Regarding schools . . .

[edit]

I'm doing some of that now, cleaning up after Maorider. Personally, though, I would write a good article on my HS if I were not concerned about privacy (since that would make it obvious where I went to HS) and if I were not afraid of it being VFD'd. I thank you as well, but things look kind of bleak. A few users I've never heard of have come out of nowhere to vote "oppose." Damn. - Lucky 6.9 22:17, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, at least your math is better than mine.  :) Not to worry, though. I have a feeling this will turn out fine after talking to another bureaucrat. I don't know what I've ever done to torque Ed off. Frankly, I've taken a stand in his favor several times on VfD and I've never had a bad word with him. I'll just have to work harder is all. - Lucky 6.9 23:26, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic cleansing

[edit]

Hallo Scimitar, I saw that you reedit my entry on this article. You asked for some sources, and I can bring some, if you are intrested. I can life with the version you established, even when I know that the total amount is 18. million Germans from all reagons of southern and eastern europe - the sources counted so many persons. With the biggest cleansing I meant not the amount of the deaths during this process, but the amount of the people witch had to leave their homes. I know that the Holocaust caused mutch more deaths. Please answer me here in this forum if you are intrested, and I will mail you some sources. Greetings, Volker

  • You would be better off to include the sources in the main article, as I don't have much personal stake in the matter. What research I have done indicates that the number is variable depending on who you talk to, and I merely tried to note that the numbers you used are at least somewhat debatable. The Ethnic cleansing article is fairly debated, because it isn't a subject that's easy to be neutral about; I just strive to help keep it as neutral as possible. Out of curiosity, why don't you get a free account here at Wikipedia? I would have contacted you about your edits before changing them if they hadn't been done anonymously. --Scimitar parley 16:24, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More Maoririder

[edit]

This is getting more and more frustrating all the flipping time. I wish the guy would stop going through his video collection and medicine chest in search of articles.  :) Are we at the point where an RfC is warranted? He obviously means well, but unlike SuperDude115, simply cannot or will not grasp the concept. I'll leave word on his talk page. Let me know what you decide to do and I'll back you up. - Lucky 6.9 17:10, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I left yet another note on his page. Looks like he's been rather busy since the Minkoff article. I'll see what he's done, but I don't have the time right now to expand any. Gotta cut, but stay in touch. - Lucky 6.9 17:19, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just did one called "The Adventures of Piggly Winks" as a redirect to "PBS Kids." All he wrote was, "It is a show on PBS Kids" and then hung stub notices all over it. He obviously watches the show...why in heck didn't he say what it's about? - Lucky 6.9 17:28, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Somehow, I knew what I was going to see on "Budonny" when I saw where you'd redirected it. What a life. Anyway, please do let me know what you come up with. I've already stayed too long and work's piling up. Later! - Lucky 6.9 17:37, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've added my name to the list. We'll just have to wait and see what develops. I hate doing this, but he's being way too disruptive with his behavior. - Lucky 6.9 18:36, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

We can only hope. Don't feel bad. - Lucky 6.9 18:40, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've added my name to the list of certifiers, and added some to the statement, and to the evidence. I would have done so yesterday, but had to log out just as I saw the RfC, and then had a very slow conenction when i tried later. DES (talk) 14:07, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know about the RfC; I've certified the charges. Has Maoririder been notified? Soltak 18:42, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've got nothing to add to what's already on the RFC, though I agree with it all. Not having been involved with an RfC before, is there any benefit to my adding to the list of those certifying? OpenToppedBus - Talk to the driver 13:59, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Great pyramid

[edit]

Scimitar (i'm no longer a number, but a name) Any further comment on my entry to the Great pyramid page? I'm happy enough to cite my own references, but I should point out that the page hitherto had no references (just links to other sites) and is just based on a (widespread but mistaken) opinion. Should these be at the bottom of the page, or proximate to the insertion? Cheers --Genesis 08:52, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

may i also query why my addition has been removed? There was nothing unreasonable, unfair or inflamatory within it. If nothing else it serves as an essential contrast to the 'traditional' but incorrect hypothesis of ownership (of it and the Sphinx) by a later, poorer Pharaoh.--Genesis 09:15, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

The continuous saga of Maoririder

Good idea about following the anon. I just popped by for a moment, caught your message...and checked the contribs. Holy crow. Any idea what's going on with his RfC? It may be time for another time out. - Lucky 6.9 16:20, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure too. That "BNAS" thing did it for me. Jeez. Can we block him for maybe an hour in hopes he gets the message? He thinks like a child; we may need to treat him as one. - Lucky 6.9 16:25, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

De nada; you deserve everything that is being said. Ummmm… I clicked "parley" with some anxiety: negotiating with an enemy was not what I hoped to be doing! Does "parley" have a slightly different meaning in Baboon? —Theo (Talk) 14:27, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're quite welcome; best of luck! --Merovingian (t) (c) 15:07, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

Hey there, he who parleys. (Keep that, by the way — don't listen to these turds ;). It's most cool). No problem at all with the support. For a moment I was worried when I saw your message: it sounded as if something had happened and your RFA had ended up as just an "attempt." But I see all's well, and you've just been getting those little thank you notes out earlier than is usual. By the way, just so that everything's clear, Scimitar, that phrase I employed is David Gerard's: see his comment here. Oilers player Jesse Niinimäki

[edit]

Hi! I created a page on Jesse Niinimäki, an Oilers prospect. If you have anything to add, it'd be very welcome! - Elrith

I think he should definitely get some ice time in Jokerit; after losing two centers and Rita to the NHL, and one winger being injured, Jokerit are seriously short of offensive forwards. I imagine he'll end up as center on the second line. The season starts 15.9., with a preliminary tournament next week, so we'll see. -Elrith

The word around here is that Niinimäki is talented but has an attitude problem; i.e. he plays really well when he can be bothered to play at all. His SM-liiga stats aren't awfully impressive either, even for a low-scoring league like this one, but like the Jokerit website says, he's a promising young talent who Jokerit are hoping to make into a star. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out; if he does start playing really well we'll obviously lose him to Edmonton by next year, but maybe we'll get one season out of the guy. -Elrith
